My son was tree planting in the area and had to drive thru Jasper for a camp move shortly after the fire. Your images capture what he described and then some. Devastatingly sad and very moving.
It's hard to believe that back in early May, my husband and I took a drive to Jasper, and it was such a beautiful day. Who would have known that Mother Nature could change all that beauty in a heartbeat😢.
I feel very heartbroken for Jasper and it's residents. Also greatful to have memories of the town before this disaster. It was so beautiful. Hope the people displaced can rebuild. Thx Forest for reminding us.
When we visited last summer on our way to Alaska the town was so lively and vibrant. It brought tears to my old eyes to see ot now. It will rise again, I'm sure of that, but I pray for those who lost so much. As it's been a while since it happened, I don't recall anyone losing their lives so that's a blessing. Anyway thanks again Forresty.
That was a hard watch. My partner and I stayed in Jasper for a few days many years ago. It was as close to paradise as anywhere I've ever been. Sad times.....
This may have been a difficult video for you to make. Thank you for the care you took shooting and editing it. It is heartbreaking to see the place I once called home like this. Jasper has a strong community and they will recover.
Gut wrenching. Crazy how the houses across the street look untouched right next to complete destruction. I am sure those other houses had damage as well just such a juxtaposition. Thanks for taking the time to do such a video.
Glad I am not the only one who was having a moment, the astro van at 1:46 ..just wow, glad everyone made it out safe but so many memories and so much history..
The summer of '77 my brother and I drove from Wisconsin to Jasper. Traveling the Icefields Parkway is the most stunning drive in North America, imo. So sad to see what happened to Jasper.
You definitely have a knack for cinematography. The before and after shots really brought a sense of the tragedy home that unfolded there. I think if you didn't make it on TH-cam you could have actually been a very good camera man for movies or documentaries. Who knows maybe that's still in the cards when you're getting too old to walk.
Glad that you were able to visit Jasper Alberta sir, very sorry that you found it in this condition. I know Jasper will repair, rebuild, and move on. Just very sad that they have to show Canada, and the rest of the world what 'Alberta Strong' means. You handled this video brilliantly!
Been wondering about Jasper. It's amazing how quickly an area can get devastated. Dealing with that now in Western NC. Thank you for sharing, prayers for Jasper.
It's amazing how you found beauty in destruction. What a tragedy. You might consider making a photo book of stills from the video, and sell it to profit those in need. I'd buy it! Thank you for sharing.
I stopped on the Henry House lookout (hwy 16, Jasper) a few days ago. I was heartbroken and then a male elk bugled across the Athabasca, and 3 females were there too. a few seconds down the road showed the place the herd gives birth and holds the new born elk had been untouched by the fire. There is hope, life and perseverance.
Thanks Moresty Foresty. From a FireSmart standpoint, it is interesting to note things that do not burn, but melt. Poly doesn't burn, PVC lattice does not burn.
Heartbreaking. In the months following hurricane Sandy, every street I walked down in my town was piled with this kind of debris. It felt like the ghosts of people's former lives. In many ways it felt harder to deal with than the storm itself, which almost felt unreal.
Sad story. We all need to encourage more fire safe construction methods and removal/control of flammable growth in urban areas. Jasper suffered a fire storm here but we see there were survivor structures. With the rise in climate/ forestry management errors we will see more loses. Helene is another example of the risk to life and property. Add earthquakes and tornadoes and you get a tough road to hoe. Nice nice on the video, you have a good heart. Bob
There is a strange beauty in the burnt rusted metal reflecting the season's autumnal leaves almost as if Jasper is providing the missing colour of the devastated nature.
Went by Jasper last week on our way home to BC. We did not drive thru town as last year in the Shuswap, our area was devastated by fire, we were evacuated from our farm and many of our neighbours lost everything. Out of respect I could not bring myself to view the pain and loss the people of Jasper are going thru
It’s truly hard to believe what has happened here. I was in Jasper in January and we had dinner at the L&W restaurant that you see at the end of the video. It was a great place to eat and had such a unique atmosphere. I truly feel for the residents and I hope that everyone is making out ok despite the challenges that lay ahead. Sending ❤️ and hope from Edmonton.
I'm schedule to perform a concert at Alpine Summit Retirement in April, a show I look forward to very much. Should we ever cross paths, Foresty, the coffee is on me.
Oh so sorry for the kind residents of Jasper, spent (2) summers; 1976 and again 1977 staying in Jasper and working at the Chateau Marmot. I am guessing the fire ran south out of town along that fire road that followed the C&N tracks maybe it got to that area that was known as the Jasper Free Camp along the Maligne River?
This is a chilling and sad video but I appreciate that you took the time to film and edit it for us. Thank You!
I never thought I would cry watching one of your videos. Thank you for posting this. Prayers for those who had their lives upended by this.
Hard to watch Simon, but thank you. Jasper has always held a special place in the hearts of my family.
This is devastating! Those poor people! Great capture! 🌺🌸🌺
Wow. No narration necessary. My heart goes out to the people of Jasper.
Thank you for this sober and respectful look at the power of a wildfire. Devastating - it must have come through so quickly.
I lived in Jasper for over a decade. This just breaks my heart 💔
Oh my that is heart breaking.
This will be the only Foresty/Moresty video I will watch only once. Too much sorrow and sadness.
Our infrastructure is not permanent.... Wildfire and fires have burned homes since humans have built them. Its best not to hang onto nostalgia.
Incredibly sad but very respectful. Thank you
My son was tree planting in the area and had to drive thru Jasper for a camp move shortly after the fire. Your images capture what he described and then some. Devastatingly sad and very moving.
Glad he’s safe, my brother was a tree planter too in his university days.
It's hard to believe that back in early May, my husband and I took a drive to Jasper, and it was such a beautiful day. Who would have known that Mother Nature could change all that beauty in a heartbeat😢.
We were there in June. Not something you can imagine.
well done, foresty. you've skilfully side stepped the polemics + politics that often accompany these things. Thank you
My heart goes out to all those affected. This is truly a tragedy.
Visited from the UK a few years ago, the people living there are so great. Hope the recovery goes swiftly.
Heartbreaking to see my home town like this. But I know it will come back stronger than ever.
❤#JasperStrong
Heartbreaking, lives turned upside down. But they will come back, and we can help by supporting businesses as they return. Thank you ☮️.
Thank you Simon. That had to leave you drained filming such devastation. May God bless...
So sad thanks Foresty 🛠️🇨🇦
I feel very heartbroken for Jasper and it's residents. Also greatful to have memories of the town before this disaster. It was so beautiful.
Hope the people displaced can rebuild. Thx Forest for reminding us.
The irony of the flowers growing in all that destruction
Heartbreaking. I could almost hear the children playing with their bikes. Amazing editing, thank you.
Thank you for sharing this. I would have never seen it otherwise. Prayers for all who were affected.

Sorry to see this. From the UK and I don't bother with the news nowadays, so this passed me by, I hope all are OK.
My heart goes out to all ❤

Just heartbreaking, thank you for sharing this sad reality on a more personal level than i have seen on the news
Between wildfires, hurricanes and whatever else nature has in store for us, mobile vanlife is looking pretty pretty good.
wow, makes u thankful
Gut wrenching. Crazy how the houses across the street look untouched right next to complete destruction. I am sure those other houses had damage as well just such a juxtaposition. Thanks for taking the time to do such a video.
So sad…. We fondly remember visiting there 8 years ago. 😢
Oh my, so sad, my heart goes out the people of Jasper.
Glad I am not the only one who was having a moment, the astro van at 1:46 ..just wow, glad everyone made it out safe but so many memories and so much history..
That is truly heartbreaking. I remember seeing the Slave Lake fire aftermath in person 😢
Heart-breaking. Thanks for sharing.
The devastation is heartbreaking 💔
WOW!
I was just there...
Powerful.
It was so hard to watch this. My heart goes out to the folks of Jasper. I don't understand how some humans don't believe in climate change.

Glad you were sensitive with this video
You even capture devastation beautifully! 🖤🌱
Been wondering about Jasper. It's amazing how quickly an area can get devastated. Dealing with that now in Western NC. Thank you for sharing, prayers for Jasper.
They lost every thing but their lives - and those kind of endings lead to new beginnings. ☮🍀♥🙏

Though the circumstances are sad, I'm happy to see you in my typical hiking spot. Appreciate the video and hope you're well :)
This is heart breaking , I feel so bad for these people. I hope that they are okay and can rebuild.
Knew what was coming the only Foresty Forest video that I began with a long sigh.
Thanks Moresty Foresty. From a FireSmart standpoint, it is interesting to note things that do not burn, but melt. Poly doesn't burn, PVC lattice does not burn.

Oh my god. Poor Jasper I’ve been to this beautiful town, a few times. I just didn’t have the heart to look at the destruction, until now.
😢😢devastating. 🙏🙏praying for everyone🙏🙏

thanks for showing this.
So sad. Our neighborhood lost 30 homes to fire last month. It’s such a shock😢
Speechless... Just speechless.
So sad. Thanks for sharing
I loved Jasper when I visited years ago. So sad to see all that destruction.
Heartbreaking
All these structures has so much charm. This hurts. I really hope the stories live on. Yikes.

That is insane
Horrible, thanks for sharing a respectful vantage point... Take care!
Crazy to see this when i was there a couple weeks before the fire on my way to the Yukon
Wow. Those poor people.
I'm schedule to perform a concert at Alpine Summit Retirement in April, a show I look forward to very much. Should we ever cross paths, Foresty, the coffee is on me.
Great video, Mahalo for sharing.
Everyone watches and then checks their fire alarm
No words...💔😪😮💨
Welp! The woodpeckers will be happy but theyre the only ones. What is so absurd is that some houses were fine and others burned to the ground 😢
Must be so surreal for the people in those houses that survived the fire, to look out their window at the destruction😢
So sad and will never be the same.
Devastating 😢
I had t heard about this fire. That’s sad but well filmed
We live in a fire area also, two years ago we had a doozy. It’s heartbreaking.
Damn. Thats so sad. 😞
Devastating, just went through that here on Maui 🙏🙏
So sad,it will take years but jasper will come back
hitting "like" felt wrong 💔
Such great memories at L & W restaurant, and from all over the Jasper area. Hard to see pictures of it all since the fire 😢
Wow! That's so scary.
Devastating. My heart breaks when I see this. I hope everyone affected by the fire can find comfort again.
So tragic!
Sad state in Jasper.
The great thing is... we will rebuild and be stronger and better than ever
So very sad and traumatic.
It's sad to see all the homes and memories destroyed🥹
Very sad. I've always loved Jasper
THIS LIFE IS SHORT....
Jesus Christ is the Way....
Heart breaking.
so very sad
so much loss
Devastating.
