The way Majora's Mask differentiates from Ocarina is the transformation masks. It completely changed the gameplay with being a Goron and a Zora. It was mind blowing, especially at the time of release.
Not to mention it’s set in a whole new setting. It’s crazy to me that it took them 1 year to make MM, which is my favorite game ever, and it took them 6 years to make TotK and it’s SET IN THE SAME MAP!!
it wasn't a direct sequel, though it was a good game imo. It takes place after awakening and the 2 oracle games and it's a different Link set many years in the future.

Let's support Wood and let him couch stream Tears of the Kingdom without the need to look at Twitch's chat. So he can play the game comfortably while we can watch him.
Yeah. I get what they were saying though, but all it would have taken is them watching a breakdown of that particular trailer (and listening to anyone who had read the patents) to know this was not just DLC. There were new enemies, new mechanics, new weapons, very clearly new locations, all shown, but on the surface without much analysis (or maybe attention) its certainly possible you could perceive it as just DLC but again that feels like a lack of awareness. Like Wulf claiming there's only one island completely ignores just how many islands and other objects were shown in the sky, we just didn't see them up close. This mindset they had aged badly before they even said it because the evidence was there already.. I missed this podcast at the time, but looking back its interesting to hear how they perceived that trailer. And frankly, for Nintendo they spent 7 years on this (the same time between Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time) so it would have been bizarre for them to have done very little design and development during that time. The DLC claim just never added up. Even without the trailers, the patents clearly outlined fundamental ways that would have had to make significant changes/additions to the world. e.g. the Ascend ability (as we know it to be called) just wouldn't work in Breath of the Wild because there isn't enough ceilings to even ascend through.
tbh it will probably be very similar visually, with botw. same artstyle, same map with some differences and new locations, but that’s it. botw was basically a sandbox with tons of unexplored possibilities, and I think totk will expand upon the base that botw established. ie an actual story, old school-ish dungeons hopefully, a bunch of new mechanics, an improved weapon durability system, more content, better bosses etc etc. I imagine totk will be for botw what link between worlds was for a link to the past, but on a bigger scale
They've clearly stated Tears is a direct sequel to Breath, in fact before they revealed the name they said it was a sequel. I distinctly remember when they won Game Of The Year they announced the dlc stuff and said they'd like to keep working on the game. I imagine much like God of War Ragnarok, they kept playing around adding more stuff and eventually they just turned it into a full sequel. So yes I think it's inevitable that it looks like Breath, unless they do a whole overhaul which at that point it'd be a new game altogether, not a sequel. Also I think technically the first Zelda sequel was the second game since I think it plays out directly after the events of the first one. There's also Phantom Hourglass which is directly after Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks which is implied to be years/decades after Phantom Hourglass.
Zelda II is 6 years after Zelda I. Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks is at least 80 years into the future from Phantom Hourglass
I think what needs to be stressed is, the devs behind BotW did go on record saying that they had so many good ideas for dlc for botw that they realized it would better to just make a new game and put all of the ideas in it. So in that sense, yea TotK is dlc for BotW but with more added flavor on top of it
Love your Podcast so much! I personally appreciate you integrating the ads into the Podcast instead of giving the feeling that you are just reading down an ad! Also all the Candy and Stuff looks so good
People are entitled to their opinions, but the ads have not bothered me. Yeah can't lie, TotK just looks like dlc. Considering how long they've been working on this, I was fully expecting it to look much more different and the graphics to be at least, a little better. To say I was disappointed with what they've shown, is an understatement.
14:03 There's been a few sequels in Zelda's mainline games: Legend of Zelda(original) -> Adventure of Link A Link to the Past -> Link Between Worlds Ocarina of Time -> Majora's Mask Wind Waker -> Phantom Hourglass -> Spirit Tracks Breath of the Wild -> Tears of the Kingdom

Majoras mask is the closest example out of all the ''sequels'' but again, that one was a whole new place/characters/game/mechanics.
Ngl I gotta agree with Wood, Link being left handed was unique and the fact that they flipped it is understandable but not making it optional to change his stance is dumb
It's a remaster. They didn't remake any part of the game they remastered the assets/textures. If they didn't remake any of the functionality, story, etc. it's a remaster.

Turning that setting off will hide the icon, so probably the person (if they read this, anyways) can try and disable annotations on videos and turn it on only when they want to follow some links in the video (avoiding the static icon burning their panel during long video sessions)

The two big points that lead me to believe that we will be crafting not only vehicles, but weapons, is the first lie, every single enemy has some weird hat or horn that doesn't look natural. The horns look like Spears or tridents on the bokoblins, the lizalfos horn looks exactly like a katana, and one of the big fat boys literally has an axe on his head And with the vehicles not only did they Pull A Part out of a random Pond or mud pit or something, but all of the vehicles are glued together like we're playing LittleBigPlanet. Literally glowing glue is sticking this car together
I have heard theories that the game will be years in the future where the ruins have been rebuilt and that a lot of gameplay will be done in the areas surrounding Hyrule and obviously in the sky. I assume these beings who put the shrines and towers in Hyrule will be involved in bringing the sky islands and other things meaning this new story will be full of many interesting things. Sorry if I sound dumb, I don't know anything really about Zelda lore.
Haha. 28:48 Wood jokingly talks about how they made Zelda nice and cheap, referring to the $69.99 price point, but then he said $40, and I almost thought he was referring to Breath of the Wild being on sale for $39.99 recently. But no, he was being fully sarcastic.
About ads, they don’t bother me, but I did see somewhere in the Discord that some were annoyed more due to iTunes (or whoever they are listening through) also putting their own in, which I can see would be annoying!
Don't worry Bob. I still haven't finished BOTW yet either. Though for different reasons. I just couldn't get into it myself. It's a gorgeous and wonderful game. I've just gotten to the point where I don't enjoy open world games like I used to. I enjoy open world games still, but just not worlds as big as BOTW because it's too much. I enjoy open world games where I can finish the game in around 25 hours, but can put tons of more hours into if I want to.
To me, considering it just an extension to botw is if they keep the same structure. Can you head toward ganon right after the tutorial? Are there gonna be memories to unlock for story? Just how OoT had a linear story just going from point to point and MM had a 3 day cycle and every character functions on a schedule on that cycle. And every quest is a result of where people are on that cycle. So I'm totally OK with botw+ if they change structure slightly, updates combat and weapon durability, + we're getting vehicles as well
15:55 this whole part wood talks about right here reminds me of god of war Ragnarok. They took the combat and gameplay from the first game and added to it with mechanics and features. So it still feels fresh and familiar at the same time.
The Pokemon franchise can clear this up or add to the confusion, BDSP are called faithful remakes. They are one to one remakes of DP. The art style is different between DP and BDSP Metroid remaster has the same art style as the original
Yes it'll be botw but jam packed and an open world that actually feels like a world like the stone talus with a bokoblin base, the bokoblin mining operations, and dragon carrying the moblin. The amount of playability from world activity variety alone will be par to minecraft.
I don't agree. This is not the first true sequel. The first true games that canonically worked off of each other and even had interlocking events where the oracle games. You had to own both otherwise they would be two separate adventures that had some connecting elements and mentions of the other but where two separate games. It is to this day though the only zelda games that I know of that had an over arching story between them
Ive still not beaten a single boss in BOTW. i think i found how open it was too overwhelming and I could never find good enough equipment. and i hate that everything breaks.
I like to imagine they have cardboard printouts of each other placed off screen so they can stare at each other despite not being together.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Wood had a “waifu” body pillow with Bob’s face on it. 😂
They already said they both have a screen and camera on the side so they r actually looking at eachother while they talk in real time
Come on what is this 1999 or something you use a good 4k monitor 🤣

Haha. 28:48 Wood jokingly talks about how they made Zelda nice and cheap, referring to the $69.99 price point, but then he said $40, and I almost thought he was referring to Breath of the Wild being on sale for $39.99 recently. But no, he was being fully sarcastic.
I don't blame anyone for forgetting that Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to Wind Waker.
Why would Ganons own arm be pinning himself down? Also, why would that same arm reach for link to save him?
About ads, they don’t bother me, but I did see somewhere in the Discord that some were annoyed more due to iTunes (or whoever they are listening through) also putting their own in, which I can see would be annoying!
Don’t know why majingles mask made me laugh so bad 😂
Don't worry Bob. I still haven't finished BOTW yet either. Though for different reasons. I just couldn't get into it myself. It's a gorgeous and wonderful game. I've just gotten to the point where I don't enjoy open world games like I used to. I enjoy open world games still, but just not worlds as big as BOTW because it's too much. I enjoy open world games where I can finish the game in around 25 hours, but can put tons of more hours into if I want to.
Pretty much.
After watching Jordan’s 8 hour video on HEY ARNOLD! I was insulted that wood said it was for jimmy neutron.
The Ad reads are fun! Forget about them.

The art style is different between DP and BDSP
Metroid remaster has the same art style as the original
After seeing the art book leaks. Totk is not botw dlc, this game is ganna be massive.
Anybody know which Megaman video Bob was talking about? Would like to see it
The box behind you literally shows link with the sword in his right hand lol.
Yes it'll be botw but jam packed and an open world that actually feels like a world like the stone talus with a bokoblin base, the bokoblin mining operations, and dragon carrying the moblin. The amount of playability from world activity variety alone will be par to minecraft.
Did anyone else notice that Wood could have turned around for 2 seconds to see if Link was right-handed in botw?
I don't agree. This is not the first true sequel. The first true games that canonically worked off of each other and even had interlocking events where the oracle games. You had to own both otherwise they would be two separate adventures that had some connecting elements and mentions of the other but where two separate games. It is to this day though the only zelda games that I know of that had an over arching story between them
But none of them was a sequel tho. They came out at the same time.
Looks like BotW: Nuts and Bolts. I can’t believe nobody has made that comparison yet.
Ive still not beaten a single boss in BOTW. i think i found how open it was too overwhelming and I could never find good enough equipment. and i hate that everything breaks.
the vehicle stuff looks like banjo kazooie nuts and bolts tbh (which I love)
Waiting for my two favourite people❤
