Just catching this now. What a great, simple tumbao rhythm! Many thanks from the Caribbean 🌴
I love how you guys teamed up! My two favorite percussion channels!🔥🔥🔥🪘🪘🪘

"You got to love it"! Love this guy!! Supercrazy lesson 😁🙏❤
Back in the day many of us learned either, if we were lucky, with people of various experiences or with a professional player. In many big cities there were jam sessions in parks and on street corners during the warm months. Now we can refer to the University of TH-cam and pick the many brains that this portal provides for us. Among the most generous are guys like Eric and Kalani. The first class that I took back in 1973 was with Dr Michael Babatundi Olatungi who provided us with his system of drum notation based on sounds from Yoruba. The simplest tumbao was, using that system is go go pa-pa gun gun (notated in a more conventional Western style by Montego Joe in his book on Conga Drumming). Also, we must not forget the great Candido Camero, featured in 70th Birthday group, who is said to be the pioneer in the use of multiple conga drums. He's a favorite of my late father who was fascinated when he heard Candido play Christmas melodies at Jimmy Connolly's in Boston Massachusetts back in the 1950's.
Eric Perez?! The Eric Perez?! You gotta love it man!

Wow, synchronicity. I was just thinking when Eric's last video came out that it would be cool to get some basic conga instruction from him on this channel. Thanks to both of you - gotta love it! ;)
