- Seitz Op.12 is one of my all time favorite violin concertos. 😍 I wanted to play this for a long long time and I finally got the chance! It's named as a "student" concerto but I don't agree with that. It's more beautiful than most "adult"(?) concertos for me, but it's mostly played by very young students and they naturally lack the maturity that is necessary to bring out its beauty. And most professional virtuosos don't record it because it's seen as a "student" concerto. I have listened to a lot of performances but only liked one of them (it's the only other professional recording of this piece, by Hyejin Chung) and it had differences from my score so I decided to record it the way I want it to be played. All the versions by young players make this concerto sound either extremely boring and bland or simply bad (no offense) because they make the students play very slowly so they can manage the various techniques in this concerto. It's the fault of the person who gave the title "student concerto" to this magnificent piece. Hope you enjoy! I will play the other movements too. The fact you got all this memorized, in perfect dynamic and intonation, and even got the tempo just right is breathtaking. I could never nearly play this good in my entire life. Outstanding.

Actually one you just listen to it a couple times, you have cues in your mind that tell you what is next so it’s pretty easy to memorize

I absolutely agree with your comments about this being a "student" concerto. The title gives the impression it's not worth it for more mature players to work on it. I hadn't known this piece before but looking at all the techniques used and just the general musicality of the notes I want to play it myself. I WAS looking for something for my student to play but now I'm in my own rabbit hole haha

Love it ! I agree, this is not a "student" concerto. I bought the music score for all of Seitz "student concertos" (1 to 5). I worked on the 2nd and 5th ones so far. Then I watched a student played the 3rd one and thought "that sounds really nice !", then proceeded to give it a look and sightread the first bars... oh boy !! 😂😂 That's not easy ! I've tried in 1rst position only, it's super awkward ! I guessed with some shiftings here and there it would flow more naturally, but I'm too young of a student to write down my own fingering (you've already help me with that by the way,I'll try you're fingering, looks quite natural 👌 Do you by any chance have a music score with your fingering written down on it ?)
My son is just starting on this piece. After looking through the various recordings on TH-cam, I’m using this as reference for him! Thank you so much. Wonderful playing and interpretation! I really like the intensity.
Hey for your son, I am playing this as well and it can be good to know how you can play it but do not make the same mistake as I did: I played way too fast and It didn’t sound nice and was just....
@@emmagranger1249 Thanks for the caution. it’s not likely that he’ll play too fast. He’s only 7. We are rather methodical with our approach. We always use metronome, especially since this piece has lots of unusual triplets. He plays slow till all the technical requirement are in, only then he’s allowed to increase tempo. 😀

Tabii bi emek/sonuç açısından da bakmak lazım. Haftalarca uğraşıp ortaya konan bir eser takipçilerin 10'da biri kadar bile izlenmeyince insan oturup video yapmak için bu kadar emek vermek istemiyor. Zaman hem iş yüzünden kısıtlı, hem de izlenmeyecek bir şey yapmak için günlerimi harcamak yerine kitap okumayı, film izlemeyi, gezmeyi, yabancı dil çalışmayı tercih etmeye kayıyor içim. İnsanların çoğu da zaten artık anlık olarak eğlendirecek, şaşırtacak, derinliği olmayan içerikler istiyor. 🤷🏻♂️Kendim için evde hep çaldım ama. 😂
