  • I chose to delete all of my social media, in the beginning it was supposed to be for only a month but I ended up extended it and I don’t regret it one bit. Here’s how it’s going so far…

I resonate with this. I permanently deleted everything four years ago and haven’t been back. Since then I’ve relocated to a new state, went back to college and got my degree and accomplished so many other things. I’m at peace now and I’m never going back. Thank you for sharing ❣️

I’ve never seen you before and didn’t search for this but I agree. Social media is poison to our society. Life was much better without it. I promise! I’m 40 and grew up as social media was evolving and entering society. It single-handedly destroyed society.

I don't know. Social media is a tool of sorts, an inanimate object. What people choose to do with it determines the outcome of social/societal norms.

It's like saying guns kill people when, in reality, people kill people. But, you are right about the devolving of society. It's easier to connect via an app versus face to face with someone.

@@laterinlife0904 if it were only used for good things, then it would be okay but it isn’t. It does far more harm than good. You never had to worry about anything you did as a teen ending up online for everyone to see to embarrass you or make fun of you or tell you to do horrendous things to yourself. Teens and young adults today are living in a toxic environment with the internet and the mental health issues have skyrocketed in our country. It’s truly sad and I feel bad for teens and young adults today. It’s not a way to live life. Being truly free was what was great. No need to worry about your wild night out with your friends ending up on Snapchat, or IG shorts, or anything like that. We could just live freely. Making our mistakes and learning a great deal from them. Now, people almost seem as if they cannot function normally and having social anxiety in droves. It’s so sad to watch 😢

It is definitely changing us, I agree. Every time I post a comment on a subject, there's always someone who finds fault or offense in what I say. It's like social media has opened that door for people to be ruthless with their words, and not practice the wise saying "think before you speak". They just speak (type)!
There are certain people in my life that I say very little to because I know that their mouth is dirty like a sewer. On social media, I feel I am starting to not want to comment on anything at all because it brings so much confrontation that I truly never involve myself in in everyday life. LORD help us!

Do it!! I been off social media for 6 years , im a fresh 25😬😬 so around 19 I had to leave that shit… a part of it had to do with getting pregnant and then splitting with my babies father and needing a clear mind. We went to high school together and knew everyone like hella mutual friends, etc and it was just TOO much to heal and focus on just myself and my baby but yeah … I haven’t missed it for that long 😂😂 just here to show it’s capable and WORTH it!

I deactivated my twitter and since then I feel calmer and more secure in myself (life decisions, thoughts, etc). People on Twitter are way to open opinionated and I get that that’s the whole point of Twitter is to tweet out your thoughts. But it is really toxic when you constantly see people insulting or attacking people for having different experiences, different thoughts, different feelings, about random stuff that doesn’t even affect them. And overtime I realize that I was internalizing this.

Because some people are public figures & such, some people feel as if they’re entitled to know what’s going on in their life & they’re also demanding. Also, lots of women are changing their looks based on what they see online

I’m always deleting my social media now. It doesn’t even feel like it is used for what it was intended for. Like when IG first started, it was really a social platform where people would just post with more authenticity. However , now it feels like everyone is just watching other peoples perfect lives . Tiktok is more addicting imo, because of how it’s set up. Thats where I get the most information overload. It’s all mentally exhausting & when you delete it , you become way more productive & at peace

As far as social media, I only use Instagram. I recently deleted the app because it is extremely distracting both consciously and subconsciously. I agree with you, it’s just information overload and it can be overwhelming. What’s annoying is I find myself going back to it via the desktop version if I need to look up a restaurant I want to try or a quick piece of info. When I do that, I make sure to be intentional about how much time I spend on it.

This video for some reason popped up on my feed and i felt i had to watch. Mainly because i am someone who uses social media in such a minimal way so its interesting to hear the perspective of someone who did a social media detox.
Im 40 and have seen the growth of social media for the past 12-15 years and i honestly do not get it. I did twitter and literally got off of it after ten minutes. Facebook ive only ever used it to keep in contact with family abroad. You cannot get me anywhere near instagram and tiktok.
The best thing you said and it is something i tell my siblings who are on social media all the time. It is not the real world.
    Cheers!

I agree. It also feels like social media lacks personal art, like everyone is discussing one thing or everyone is just following the trending topics to get views. I cannot explain it clearly. I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong and why social media feels off. But I feel often bored using it right now... And sometimes it feels frustrating that I have to use it for my music, as you must be active for your music to be heard... So it's like you're combining two jobs at the same time, and you don't like one of it. Idk, your video made me write this comment. I just feel like I'd love to spend more time in reality, although every time I post sth myself, I scroll through other stuff. Just tired

If more people were using social media for the good than you’ll see allot of good things from social media. I been posting videos 3 years I’ll say if I was posting beefing with somebody airing dirty laundry year I’ll be noticed more. It seems like that’s what most people on social media is searching for who’s doing who wrong who’s cheating who who don’t care anymore. Or who looks better with nicer things yeah that’s what gives social media a bad name. If you think about it you have power too be a great influencer, motivational speaker on social media than tryna get on the tv or radio too talk. Me though I just wanna be a blessing to a person behind the screen often times our videos can be the closest to a friend a person has behind the screen. It depends on the persons intentions, motivations that make social media a good thing or bad thing. I added this video to my real talk Christian subject playlist I get a blessing each time I listen to them 😇
