I played this for my Northern Flickers and they were confused and then figured it out. They pooped on my MacBook Pro. Guess I shouldn't have left it in the driveway playing the sounds!
It's funny they pooped on your Mac! Just like saying "You get our s#!t on your stuff for fooling us!" Sometimes the birds pooped in my coffee, so I now keep the cups covered. And then one day a slug (of all things) fell out of the tree and into my container of bird seed! I will NOT sit under a tree again, I would rather have bird poop than a slug!!
Thanks for helping me finally identify this bird. I hear them calling where we live all the time but rarely see them so I had no idea who was making that beautiful sound.
Thank you so much for this! I've had a feathered friend rattling my eaves for bugs when the weather draws in a few years now, but it's incredibly hard to catch a glimpse of. I had red underwings and a bit of brown to go on, this cements it as something I've heard in the forest. I just hope I can see it with my own eyes at some point--our apartment complex forbids birdfeeders, so it's nice that we're feeding them anyway. Cheers to ya!

I just noticed some medium sized ants making hills in one area of my yard. Not too long after, flickers arrived and were drilling holes in the area. End of ants.
I truly enjoy listening to this on Bluetooth speaker and it’s as if I am having a Flicker party in my front yard. They live in an oak tree in a neighbors yard 2 houses down.
I don't know if anyone will see this, but I'm trying to find this bird that I hear somewhat often in the woods but I have never seen what's making the noise. It kind of makes a sad lower pitched call with only one note, but it does it 7 times. Then it stops for 20-30 seconds and does it again. I'm pretty sure the bird is usually high up in the trees. It's just been bugging me because I've been trying to find out what it is, but I can't find it. I live in Pennsylvania.

I played this at .25 speed and you can hear a flicker way off in the distance answering the calls. Amazing.
I could hear that without the speed reduction. That's an awesome idea to play in slow speed though!!!

this guy was out cleaning my storm gutters. I was blaming the mess on squirrels. had to find the sound thank sounds this worked!

I don't know if anyone will see this, but I'm trying to find this bird that I hear somewhat often in the woods but I have never seen what's making the noise. The bird in the background is a black-capped chickadee. I hear them singing that two-syllable call to each other in the Spring.
