- Disneyland’s Forgotten Country Bear Jamboree - History, Secrets & Remnants
In the 1960s Walt Disney and his Imagineers were working on a ski resort called Disney's Mineral King Ski Resort. Walt wanted to offer guests more than just skiing so him and the Imagineers came up with an idea for a bear band show. During the development of the ski resort and bear show, Walt passed away and the ski resort project was put on hold. Marc Davis and the other Imagineers continued development of the bear show and eventually the Country Bear Jamboree opened at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in 1971. A few months later the Country Bears opened at Disneyland where they remained extremely popular for many years until Winnie the Pooh started selling more merchandise than the Country Bears. Eventually it was announced that the Country Bear Jamboree would close on September 9, 2001 and would be replaced with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Even though the Country Bear Jamboree is closed forever there are still some secrets left at Disneyland including the heads of Melvin, Buff and Max. Come along and join us as we go check out the secrets and remnants of the Country Bears that are left in Disneyland.

What happened to the actual Country Bear animatronics that were used in the show at “Disneyland” like the Five Bear Rug, Gomer, Henry. Liver Lips, Swinging Teddi Berra, Terrence. Ernest, Big Albert, Wendell. The Sun Bonnets & Trixie?
Hmm good question. They probably got scrapped for parts or sent to WDW or Tokyo to be used as back ups in case one of the bears there breaks

Is it true that the “Country Bear Jamboree” is closing at “Walt Disney World” and being replaced by a “Woody’s Roundup” animatronic marionette puppet show?
The country bears are probably one of my favorite attractions. I'm still in shock that Winnie the Pooh took over. Big Al. #reskinned. 😉 I was curious of all the things you found that was leftover from CBJ. Good finds Ben. I think you might have missed one. Unless it just didnt make the video.
Megovskk I love the country bears as well 🐻 glad they are still at WDW and Tokyo. Right!? I with they found a way to do Pooh and the bears. I still think they bears should move over to Grizzly Peak 🤔 Yeah there is so much bear stuff left, it’s like why aren’t they still there!!! Thank you! It was hard tracking them all down. I know this is old but I’m not upset that Winnie The Pooh took it’s place. It’s been a long time coming and Winnie is a classic Disney character, so having his own attraction was a necessary change. Awesome video by the way, thank you sir 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

I can imagine hardcore fans of the Country Bears at Disneyland protesting to save their favorite attraction in the early 2000s before it closed like how Mr. Toad fans protest to save Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disney World in the late 90s.

Pooh was a poor replacement designed to shift merchandise which the Country Bear's didn't, a bad decision by the management at the time. I have never noticed all those little touches still remaining, let's hope they don't get removed, the sign behind the counter is fantastic, the word "vittles" always reminds me of The Beverly Hillbillies as the grandma always uses that word.
Yeah the Pooh merch sold better than the bears :( definitely a bad decision to replace them with Pooh, sale for toad in WDW. The little nods are awesome though!!! Haha too funny!
@@BenLaurence from memory it was done in the Paul Pressler days when everything at Disney was being cheapened and the focus of the company turned more to selling merch and filling every store with the same junk.
Yeah I believe it was. Disney’s kinda in the same place now except they’re spending money but producing subpar products and attractions. It’s all about the money $$$

The heads aren’t from the country bears jamboree, they are from the mil long bar Disneyland resort. The heads in the jamboree that sort of resemble the heads on the wall names are buff Kevin and Henry but the ones from the mile long bar names are buff Melvin and max and the ones in the ride are the same names from the bar.
HaydenOfficial they are all the exact same heads. It’s hard to pinpoint whether they came from the mile long bar or country bears.

I know that there the exact same heads from the attraction, not the mile long bar. Bro the mile long bar ones from DL are much huger and the exact same ones in WDW version but the ones in the attraction in DL is the ones you see in Winnie the Pooh.

i think the heads on the winnie the pooh dark ride are not from the country bear jamboree they are from a unknown bar in disney but those heads you see from the country bear jamboree then on the ride those are the ones but its from a bar.
Actually for the guardian of the Galaxy mission breakout the thing that's in the cage is actually from another attraction I think from another park

So I’ve figured out that the set of Max, Buff & Melvin on “The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh” are not the animatronics from “Country Bear Jamboree”, they’re the statues that hung on the wall at the “Mile Long Bar” & when it changed to the “Br’er Bar”. So where do you think the animatronics of Max, Buff & Melvin from the “Country Bear Jamboree” in “Disneyland” are?

Not the animatronics that we’re used in their “Country Bear Jamboree”, but a little fun fact, if you wanted to go to a “Mile Long Bar” that had Max. Buff & Melvin as animatronics, you’d have to go the one at “Walt Disney World’s: Magic Kingdom” to their “Mile Long Bar”.

I understand Disney is supposed to be FOR KIDS but honestly they took out a good ride and replaced it with a less impressive one. Most of the things in the Pooh ride AREN’T really animatronics. And Disney is KNOWN WORLD WIDE for their audio animatronics being legendary. So to me, the Winnie the Pooh ride is a step down.

I think the boys up on the wall are actually animatronics, if not they’re the heads from the mile long bar.. I don’t think big al is oogie, I just kind of threw that in there for fun.. it’s funny to see other channels run with that rumor haha!! A lot of the stuff was shipped off to WDW for back ups/spare parts.. sad Disneyland doesn’t still have the bears

Which one did he forget?
During the ride you come across brer bears house where you can hear him snoring. This was in bear country and was repurposed and put into splash mountain.
Oh yeah the Rufus the bear snor.. it’s not really a Country Bears reference so he left it out of the video. Believe it our not the snoring Audio is actually repurposed from Snow White and the seven dwarfs 😃
