    Hi Mike. You did a great job demo-ing this. I've been using mine and it's a big help. The bolt head does not have anything on it so there are no marks left on the wood. This works great on bottle stoppers using a screw on mandrel in the headstock. I used the bolt for end support which left only a very small end to finish off. No mark left, so no parting off. Thanks for a great video.

    Hey Mike. Thanks for posting this review. I know it is a few years old but it is still a viable post. I have been sitting on the fence about getting this kit and after watching your review I have decided to pull the trigger.
    I knew this system was versatile, but did not realize how versatile it could be.
    I would order it through your Amazon store, but they don't deliver to Canada.
    Thanks again for the incredibly fun and educational videos. Keep up the great work.

    Excellent demo Mike. I use one on my Nova DVR XP which is very versatile as you demonstrate and I use the Oneway live center on my 2436. The Oneway is a bit more beefy for large stuff in my opinion but the Nova certainly has more options for support mounting. Good stuff and keep up the good work, thanks!

    very helpful, Mike. Found this after noting your comment on Mike Waldt's site. As a Nova chuck user, I'll look into buying one. I just recently purchased a Beall spindle tap and have made some spindle mounted wood faceplates and glue blocks. This live center will come in handy as you say for many projects. One is to hold the bowl reversed up against the Nova Cole jaws when I'm finishing the bottom. Thanks again.

    Looking for which way to go for a live center with options of using 3" or 4" cones. Was going to go with the Oneway or Savannah 7559 thinking the Nova 5015 wasn't the way to go. Thank you for the good explanation of it's options. I was trying to stay with the Nova chuck options & abilities. Instead of having a large mix of brands in the tool box.

  • @erouse666
    @erouse666 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got mine about 3 years ago. I use allthread instead of hanger bolts cause it's cheaper. Cut off the length I want, drill a hole and epoxy it in, then shape it to what I need and it's always ready when I need it.

    Great review, this Nova system works well just keep track of the parts and make copies of their manual for quick reference and ideas. Now, I wish Nova would offer more jaws for their Infinity chuck.

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Gallagher
      Teknatool, like so many tool manufacturers, make their manuals available for an easy download. An option is using any existing jaw set with the retrofit kit. Also, you can use the Record Power or Sorby Patriot jaws with the retrofit kit.

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning

    Hey Mike. On the hollow cup center, how do I remove the point? It says it is demountable, but I cannot figure out how to 'demount' it.
    Thanks for any advice you can offer. Your videos are so helpful!! Take care.

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can not remove the point from the MT attachment it is part of. By demountable, they mean you can remove any accessory from the live center.

  • @TheDistur
    @TheDistur 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Mike. Would you still recommend this set? Thanks.

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes because I have not found another one that is as versatile. The one con is the basic point and cup has an overly large point. I could reshape it on the lathe with a HSS scraper but have never bothered because tI can still use the center that came with my PM3520 or grab my cheap cone center. I could use the cone tip from this set but find it faster to just grab the other $20 cone center. When I need a special tip like the open cone or longer 1/4" point or using a DIY "soft touch", this one is great.

  • @petehalsted1622
    @petehalsted1622 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did they change the design of the Hollow Cup accessory? In your video, and in the instructions that came with mine it says it has a 5/16 through hole, and the tip is removable. You show in the video doing this so you can use it as a guide for a drill bit. But my hollow cup accessory doesn't have a through hole. I am wondering if I could drill the hole or if it is actually solid now and now 2 separate pieces.

    Hi Mike very interesting video I went on to buy a nova live Chuck system after watching it.
    I find it very versatile but I am unable to find the correct size hanger bolt I only seem to be able to find M 8
    I contacted Teknatool but they have not responded I wonder if you could tell me the thread on the machine screw end of the bolt
    I would be very grateful as I need to purchase five or so

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning

      It is documented in their user manual as a 5/16". I do not know if you are in the USA. I have bought 5/16" threaded rod from the home development center as well as 5/16" bolts. It is not metric.

  • @kmcwoodwork

    Great system I wish it had threading on the other side of the hub so when it’s in the headstock side you could use a drawbar

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keith, perhaps you are overthinking this. The live center will always be under some pressure against the turning so can't work free. That is why no live center I have ever seen is threaded for a drawbar.

    • @kmcwoodwork
      @kmcwoodwork 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not the live center itself but the center part that is already threaded it could be threaded on the other side like a Jacob chuck or drill chuck and you then could use a draw bar to keep in the headstock my dad is a machinist might get him to make me one

    I would have been nicer if you could have presented the live and dead centers if the camera was pointed to your hands instead of your hole body. Not enough close ups, Only close ups were when it was in your tail stock.
