That was a lot rustier than you would think looking at it from the outside. Looking forward to the "after" video.

I think it's had an advantage as it's lived its life in a dry or mostly dry environment. We had a choice with that panel under the rear windscreen. We could have had it bogged, a 5 year or so solution or we could have had the panel replaced. A new panel was the only option we ever intended to go with.

@@bobby2292 Indeed, the only option. That section was far too far gone for filler.

Yeah that’s pretty rusty round the back. Definitely a replacement panel needed at the back window, once the rear window comes out it will be a lot worse. Mine was pretty bad as well. I’m working on the area above the tail lights at the moment on mine.

I hear you loud and clear. After a fair bit of discussion and talking to people, we decided to keep it as a Calais. I'll be mentioning that if I ever get over to WA to do the post paint video.

my vk had alot more rust than yours and came back looking brand new with new metal in place. hence why theres alot of replacement panels out there for these cars. nothing that cant be fixed by a good panelbeater mate, look forward to seeing your end result
