By virtue of having shared centuries with Strahd, Rahadin at least knows that Tatyana's appearance is a fleeting thing. Escher doesn't have that understanding yet, hence his fear and jealousy must be overwhelming.

I don't mean a song primarily about Tatyana, although she is at the root of the fall of the von Zarovich line, but about the other things that while being less obvious nonetheless reveal much about Strahd. How he feels about his bond with Rahadin and Escher, how he feels about having killed Sergei (in the novels, Sergei came to him as a stranger. He was born after Strahd left for war, but Strahd was definitely becoming fond of him just before Tatyana crossed their respective paths), even about the mixture of love and resentment he harbors toward his parents (he idolizes them on one hand, but also resents them because Barov sent him to war when Strahd was about 15 years old, and it was for the old king that the young son won battle after battle, never allowing himself a rest until he stopped one day and realized that his youth was gone and while he was still a mighty man in his prime, even that prime was approaching an end. And he had very little to show for the sacrifice he had made. A valley, beautiful as it was, the title of a count (not that much for the firstborn son of a king. A man who should have by all means been made at least a double duke for his achievements) and a mother who had grown enstranged because he was a fearsome warrior, unlike his younger siblings who had stayed at home and had never known the sufferings of war. And another idea: a song in Sergei's POV. Being a ghost, he would know the events that happened after his death, and he has hopes and yearnings of his own. Also, there is the matter of his relationship with Strahd. Sergei loved him and looked up to him as to a war hero. Does he love him still? Pity him? Despise him? I myself am not certain, but given that Sergei is a gentle soul, I like to believe that he has forgiven his brother the crime, especially given that Strahd has gone through heaps of misery since. And, oh, you asked about the lyrics in the video: for me it is a better option than having the lyrics in the comment section, and I think that other people who don't have English as their mother tongue would also appreciate having the lyrics in the video - it makes a song much easier to follow :) This is quite a wall of text :) Sorry about that! Im a dungeon master for a CoS campaign and I fell in love with Escher, and I'm looking for inspiration on how to play him so my players will fall in love too C: I have no clue what to do more with his character when it comes to more details. How will he act at dinner? What are Strahds feelings about him? Would he care If Escher was harmed? I'm trying to base him of less damaged Astarion from bg3 but we will see
