    Thank you so much for this tip! I got a tabletop bonnet style hairdryer from Sally's Beauty for $30 & it works great! Even dries my acrylic paint pour tumblers in just a couple hours vs a couple days - it's a real game changer!!!! Just thought I'd share about the hairdryer since so many people commented about not being able to find the heater too. Thanks again! 🙂

    I was super excited to try this because my garage gets super cold in the winter . So far it has worked pretty well but I feel like my white glitter on one of my cups has yellowed a little . Has anyone else had this problem ? I use amazing clear cast epoxy .

    • @KristisCustomCreations
      @KristisCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The yellowing would be from your Epoxy turning yellow. Pretty much all epoxy will yellow some over time but heat can sometimes cause it to yellow a little faster. I now use Tumblerpoxy and don't have any problems with my epoxy yellowing. I hope this helps answer your question.

    I've seen this tip from several of you pro tumbler makers and I thought it was exciting. I got the fan with attachment from Amazon and I tried it. After the first hour, it melted my pvc pipe! Then, instead of drying my tumbler it ended up SUPER sticky. Why is that? Help! I would love for this heater trick to work but I'm lost as to why it didn't work for me. Thanks so much!

    • @KristisCustomCreations
      @KristisCustomCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh my goodness! I use it with my PVC pipe all the time and never have any issues. I have found that I can't use it with any 3D printed turner attachments though. The heat shouldn't make your tumbler sticky, are you sure that the epoxy mixture was correct? Maybe try doing it on the low heat setting and don't let the air blow directly onto your tumbler, just let it heat up the box.

    • @craftnmomster
      @craftnmomster 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KristisCustomCreations weird right?? I did have it on low and pointed away from my tumbler so I think it was just the heat in the box over time. Maybe I need it to be a bit more open. But I have seen people crated amazing heat boxes for their tumbler turners that are completely closed up so idk. Also, when I found this had happened it was about 1.5 hours into it being heated and I had been checking it about every 15-20 minutes. When I stopped it and let the cup sit out like I normally do for curing, it dried fine and wasn't sticky so I don't know why I had the sticky issue with heat. I'm going to try again with some adjustments at some point and see how it goes before I give up on this trick. Thanks for responding and doing your videos. I love your creative results!!

    • @craftnmomster
      @craftnmomster 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @K M I tilted my box a bit more and it has been fine. It did still soften some parts of my pvc since the weather has gotten warmer in TX, but it didn't completely melt and bend the pvc like the first time.

    • @KristisCustomCreations

  • @lisa.ecklund.meinholz

    I have a newbie question......do you wait for a while after you first epoxy to set your heat box up? I'm just curious because I know that heat on a freshly epoxied item, makes the epoxy move. And one last question.....I only have a double turner and a single. So I think the set up I would use would be to put the box upside down on top of my 3 turners. Do you think that would be to much heat without a really good vent like what you have? Thank you Kristi! You are a very talented lady!!

    • @KristisCustomCreations
      @KristisCustomCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't usually wait too long before putting them in the heater box. Maybe 30 mins or so while I work on other projects. With the cups spinning, the epoxy usually stays on without dripping, even under the heat. If you were to have your heater box upside down, it may be a lot of heat for your tumblers but I would at least give it a try. If it turns out to be too much heat, you can always cut a vent in the box for the excess heat to escape. :) Thanks for watching!!!

    • @KristisCustomCreations

      Be sure to wear a respirator when working with epoxy and try to ventilate the garage if possible. I would let it stay in the container until it's dry to the touch. Technically, the epoxy is no longer considered toxic after 72 hours.

    I’m new to this and having an issue with the epoxy being sticky. I’ve tried adding new layers of epoxy over the sticky layer, with drying 6-12-24 hours on a spinner between layers and making sure my measuring resin/hardener is precise. Any suggestions??

    • @KristisCustomCreations
      @KristisCustomCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if your Epoxy is staying sticky then it's not going to help by putting more epoxy over it. Your cup will remain toxic from the toxins in epoxy because it won't ever properly cure and the epoxy underneath can actually Leach up through the other epoxy layers that you have put down. My suggestion would be to strip the cup and start over. You don't want to risk anyone getting sick or the cup never hardening like it's supposed to. One coat of epoxy that isn't mixed properly or measured properly can ruin the whole cup. What kind of epoxy are you using?
