I dont have adhd and dont know it well, but as a person living with depression it is so good to have people see how you feel and just help the best they can - this means so much when you just cant handle yourselfe sometimes.
Thankfully my ADHD isnt bad enough to give me breakdowns like this, just the struggle of focusing, or grabbing a soda then going straight back to like dark souls or sonething then you find the tv on and u sit there for like 40 mins watching it, then remember "RIGHT, SODA, DARK SOULS", for me the most "break down" is when someone gets pissed at me for being severely colorblind and not being able to see greens at all, affliction wise, but when im glad ethan has friends like mark and tyler for him, last tind i actually did have a breakdown i only felt better because of my girlfriend, i forgot what my original point was but when you have a mental affliction like a actual case of adhd or depression, its always good to have people who care about you at your side Edit: also i feel you on the fact you almost cried, i did too and its hard to make me cry from a video

Ethan in this video is like the perfect example of an ADHD episode and what it looks like when you get really overwhelmed. I’m glad he was okay with them posting this, because honestly it’s one of the best examples of overstimulation and not being able to pay attention that I’ve ever seen with a popular TH-camr. They even gave him extra time, like children with ADHD usually get in school and you can clearly see him struggling to grasp his ideas or focus on what he’s doing. Even in the beginning when they first get their items you can see him grabbing and touching things but with no real purpose because he can’t focus but he wants the stimulation. This. Exactly. In elementary school we did things like this and I would get so overwhelmed and just cry, and since no one knew I had ADHD at the time they didn't know why I was crying. When I'm put under time constraints I break down and just cry. Seeing Mark, Tyler, and Amy supporting Ethan through this warmed my heart because I wish I had people like them to help me when I was younger.
I have super bad adhd, and I relate so heavily to Ethan during this. Adhd + a time limit is super hard to work with, because you can never really get your ideas out, it feels like a class project, where you only have like 1 day to work on it, and go through 3 ideas and can’t get them out into paper and then eventually just give up.
I sometimes have this but I can also have the opposite of this when I have like a few weeks to finish an assignment and it's really hard to start working on it
I love this a lot, Mark usually teases Ethan a little, but he could see he was upset so he toned it down a lot, Mark was really positive to Ethan, and they were both talking about how they hope he gets it, they were all really supportive of Ethan and his mistake, they tried to make him feel better every chance they got, even though Ethan was really bummed out, he was very positive toward his friends, and I think Ethan handled the situation really well (In my opinion). I'm very proud of these guys, and I'm happy they all have each other, they always seem like better people when they're around each other.

No because I truly hate how genuinely I understood Ethan and literally felt for him in this video. Having severe ADHD myself, my heart always hurts for him and at various points I feel like crying for him when watching this video, even 3 years later. And even on the flip side, it also makes me emotional to hear Amy keep checking up on him and how all of them, really, reacted to the whole thing. It's really lovely to see people who understand and are just genuinely sweet, supportive, and caring. I really do feel for him, watching how he reacts to/handles the situation, and I'm glad he has really good friends.
My respect for Mark has gone up something fierce. Ethan is clearly having an ADHD episode. He can't focus, everything is overwhelming, instructions are not understood and he fixated on the shock mount idea. And Mark recognised that Ethan was clearly distressed and toned down the teasing and directed any antagonism to Tyler. ADHD is incredibly overwhelming to live with and Mark was incredibly empathetic to Ethan's situation. Thems good frems.
It's so sweet to see how, usually, everyone is making fun of each other (in a joking manner, of course) but when Ethan is genuinely sad, they're as nice as possible.

What I see in this video is that as soon as Ethan becomes even slightly upset or sad Mark and Tyler go straight into father and brother mode- like Mark becomes the caring and supportive father and Tyler tries to comfort. It’s the cutest thing- 😭😭💖

Re-watching this after being diagnosed with ADD, and having experienced sensory overload myself, I really feel for Ethan, because I could 100% see myself in him. It feels like your head is just stuffed full, to a point where you just can't take anything else in. Sound, smell, vision, everything feels overwhelming, and you just want to lie down and be able to flip a switch on your head to turn it off completely. It sucks.
as a person that has adhd myself i could see that from the start ethan was already having problem attending to everything and throughout the video it kinda got worse. its like i see myself in class in ethan in this video. We could of course never know what was going through his brain but it looks like he was having a meltdown,,,

Many people have also pointed that out and I think it's the case. It's slightly better to think about though knowing that once Mark realized it was happening, he was supportive and trying to help Ethan through it. Being a person with ADHD, it really made me feel better knowing Ethan has a friend there for him.
Flashbacks to forcing myself to read a long passage when my brain was not getting stimulated at all and I read the first sentence over and over for 30 minutes absorbing nothing. Frustration cries HURT not fun
It's amazing how much has changed in just a couple years but if we can at least take one thing away from this video it's that despite how much poor Eef was struggling in this video it showed a lot of people that ADHD is no joke. This shit is ROUGH when it flares up like it did for him and it can be incredibly detrimental to our mental health if it's not handled correctly. Thankfully Mark also has ADHD/ADD so once he finally realized what was going on he changed his tune towards Ethan's panicking or this could've ended in a full blown panic attack or depressive episode. Also, almost 2 years later and Amy is still such a sweetheart towards Ethan in this one when she could tell he was getting frustrated.
7:55 - you can see Ethan's disappointment and it honestly is heartbreaking. But I noticed how when Ethan said "next" at 8:38 , Mark immediately went back to the camera. I saw Ethan wipe his eyes after that, so it was like Mark was really trying to distract from the fact he was damn close to proper crying.
While I have ADD and not ADHD, I really get the frustrated crying even when you don’t want to. It’s embarrassing, and it makes you upset that you’re upset. Not being able to focus on something no matter what you do is so tough. I broke a led pencil in half because I couldn’t focus on my homework, but then was like “fuck that was my only pencil”

My dad has ADD it's not severe enough to make him just crying but when he focused on something he is really focused on that thing and if you try to talk to him while he's focusing on something he doesn't even know you're talking
As someone who also lives with ADHD, I feel Ethan’s pain 100%. I ran out of meds on a school day and couldn’t get a refill until the next day, unfortunately, this was during my math state test, I could not focus at all and everything was just gibberish. Somehow by total luck I passed the test with a 64% (in Ohio, a D is a passing grade.) I should not have passed that test but I’m not complaining because I graduated thanks to that 64
I think most people watching this don't realise but it's clear Ethan was struggling from the very beginning. I have ADHD and I know this exact feeling, and it's really hard to describe if you've never felt it before. Basically, you start to get frustrated because your brain is working ever so slightly out of sync with your hands/body, and the harder you try, the more frustrating it is, and the more the disconnect grows. Assuming this video was filmed after they filmed the Markiplier Makes Pie video, then Ethan has already been struggling to successfully complete a task. You can see how distracted and distant he is in the beginning of the video while Mark is talking. He gets more and more frustrated with himself as the challenge goes on. If you have friends with ADHD, or suspected ADHD, then please take note of this video. He's not upset because he's going to lose the challenge, at least not entirely. He's upset because he can't get his body to do what's happening in his head. If your friends ever struggle like this, please dont pressure them, or make fun of them. Just comfort them and give them some time to calm themself down and reorganize their thoughts. It's difficult trying to work under pressure like this, but having a friend there to help, like Mark in this instance, really does make a difference.
the second prt is very true. i have adhd (not as severe as it could be but still it hinders me at times) and especially in one of my classes where we were more active it was the worst for me as it always triggered my adhd and id just have to sit there on the floor in the corner because i PHYSICALLY couldnt do the work even if i really wanted to. its hard to see someone else go through the same thing.

sometimes i feel like i have add or adhd even though i am a typically smart person and I haven't been this way my whole life but today I was doing schoolwork that required a lot of reading and taking notes and at the beginning I was fine but then I started skipping words in my reading and when taking notes I would skip letters in like all the words and I didn't know why I was doing that bc I am a good speller as well, it's confusing :(

No because I truly hate how genuinely I understood Ethan and literally felt for him in this video. Having severe ADHD myself, my heart always hurts for him and at various points I feel like crying for him when watching this video, even 3 years later.
And even on the flip side, it also makes me emotional to hear Amy keep checking up on him and how all of them, really, reacted to the whole thing. It's really lovely to see people who understand and are just genuinely sweet, supportive, and caring.
I really do feel for him, watching how he reacts to/handles the situation, and I'm glad he has really good friends.
My respect for Mark has gone up something fierce. Ethan is clearly having an ADHD episode. He can't focus, everything is overwhelming, instructions are not understood and he fixated on the shock mount idea.
And Mark recognised that Ethan was clearly distressed and toned down the teasing and directed any antagonism to Tyler.
ADHD is incredibly overwhelming to live with and Mark was incredibly empathetic to Ethan's situation.

I really feel Ethan’s pain in this video, I don’t have ADHD, but I’m autistic, and when something like this happens to me I either just completely shut down, or start to cry, because I’m overwhelmed, and feel like a failure

Re-watching this after being diagnosed with ADD, and having experienced sensory overload myself, I really feel for Ethan, because I could 100% see myself in him.
It feels like your head is just stuffed full, to a point where you just can't take anything else in. Sound, smell, vision, everything feels overwhelming, and you just want to lie down and be able to flip a switch on your head to turn it off completely. It sucks.

as a person that has adhd myself i could see that from the start ethan was already having problem attending to everything and throughout the video it kinda got worse. its like i see myself in class in ethan in this video. We could of course never know what was going through his brain but it looks like he was having a meltdown,,,
Exactly, he seemed to have trouble focusing but turned upset later on when he couldn’t do stuff and realized how bad it was.

Many people have also pointed that out and I think it's the case. It's slightly better to think about though knowing that once Mark realized it was happening, he was supportive and trying to help Ethan through it. Being a person with ADHD, it really made me feel better knowing Ethan has a friend there for him.
Flashbacks to forcing myself to read a long passage when my brain was not getting stimulated at all and I read the first sentence over and over for 30 minutes absorbing nothing. Frustration cries HURT not fun

It's amazing how much has changed in just a couple years but if we can at least take one thing away from this video it's that despite how much poor Eef was struggling in this video it showed a lot of people that ADHD is no joke. This shit is ROUGH when it flares up like it did for him and it can be incredibly detrimental to our mental health if it's not handled correctly. Thankfully Mark also has ADHD/ADD so once he finally realized what was going on he changed his tune towards Ethan's panicking or this could've ended in a full blown panic attack or depressive episode.
Also, almost 2 years later and Amy is still such a sweetheart towards Ethan in this one when she could tell he was getting frustrated.
7:55 - you can see Ethan's disappointment and it honestly is heartbreaking. But I noticed how when Ethan said "next" at 8:38 , Mark immediately went back to the camera. I saw Ethan wipe his eyes after that, so it was like Mark was really trying to distract from the fact he was damn close to proper crying.

It’s embarrassing, and it makes you upset that you’re upset. Not being able to focus on something no matter what you do is so tough. I broke a led pencil in half because I couldn’t focus on my homework, but then was like “fuck that was my only pencil”

I have super severe ADHD, and it causes me to go into little episodes of not knowing what to do, or not being able to focus, and it's pretty overwhelming and it can cause me to go into fits of crying or mad sobs- I know how that feels and what ethan is going through in this video is so r e l a t e a b l e -
My dad has ADD it's not severe enough to make him just crying but when he focused on something he is really focused on that thing and if you try to talk to him while he's focusing on something he doesn't even know you're talking
I'm so glad that by thinking outside of the box and using an unconventional method, Ethan got an egg to live. He deserved that victory.
As someone who also lives with ADHD, I feel Ethan’s pain 100%. I ran out of meds on a school day and couldn’t get a refill until the next day, unfortunately, this was during my math state test, I could not focus at all and everything was just gibberish. Somehow by total luck I passed the test with a 64% (in Ohio, a D is a passing grade.) I should not have passed that test but I’m not complaining because I graduated thanks to that 64
I think most people watching this don't realise but it's clear Ethan was struggling from the very beginning. I have ADHD and I know this exact feeling, and it's really hard to describe if you've never felt it before. Basically, you start to get frustrated because your brain is working ever so slightly out of sync with your hands/body, and the harder you try, the more frustrating it is, and the more the disconnect grows. Assuming this video was filmed after they filmed the Markiplier Makes Pie video, then Ethan has already been struggling to successfully complete a task. You can see how distracted and distant he is in the beginning of the video while Mark is talking. He gets more and more frustrated with himself as the challenge goes on.
If you have friends with ADHD, or suspected ADHD, then please take note of this video. He's not upset because he's going to lose the challenge, at least not entirely. He's upset because he can't get his body to do what's happening in his head. If your friends ever struggle like this, please dont pressure them, or make fun of them. Just comfort them and give them some time to calm themself down and reorganize their thoughts. It's difficult trying to work under pressure like this, but having a friend there to help, like Mark in this instance, really does make a difference.
As someone with pretty bad ADHD it's good to see that I'm not alone and to finally have a good explanation to how I'm feeling.
the second prt is very true. i have adhd (not as severe as it could be but still it hinders me at times) and especially in one of my classes where we were more active it was the worst for me as it always triggered my adhd and id just have to sit there on the floor in the corner because i PHYSICALLY couldnt do the work even if i really wanted to. its hard to see someone else go through the same thing.
Alex Stewart I don’t have add or adhd but I’m decent at reading people’s movements and emotions. When I went and rewatched I noticed that at the beginning he seemed off compared to how he usually is.
sometimes i feel like i have add or adhd even though i am a typically smart person and I haven't been this way my whole life but today I was doing schoolwork that required a lot of reading and taking notes and at the beginning I was fine but then I started skipping words in my reading and when taking notes I would skip letters in like all the words and I didn't know why I was doing that bc I am a good speller as well, it's confusing :(
