Have you heard the original? It’s not even about the lyrics to be honest. It’s the lack of energy in this. Heather Chandler was lacking the energy and was singing way too soft, Heather McNamara’s “Fine, go braid her hair” wasn’t emphasized enough like in the musical. The way they randomly added the two other characters; Toni and whoever that other girl was made no sense, the whole song is meant to be sang by the Heathers and the “shut up heather” was an important part because it shows Chandlers attitude toward her side kick and it’s a recurring thing she says throughout the musical.

It doesn’t work. Yes Madeline sounds good but she is singing in her head voice which is usually quieter then her chest voice, unless she’s mixing but this doesn’t sound like she’s mixing. They increased the volume giving it all the sound but without the power.

Have you heard the original? It’s not even about the lyrics to be honest. It’s the lack of energy in this. Heather Chandler was lacking the energy and was singing way too soft, Heather McNamara’s “Fine, go braid her hair” wasn’t emphasized enough like in the musical. The way they randomly added the two other characters; Toni and whoever that other girl was made no sense, the whole song is meant to be sang by the Heathers and the “shut up heather” was an important part because it shows Chandlers attitude toward her side kick and it’s a recurring thing she says throughout the musical.

one of the things that made the original candy store such an appealing song to me is how distinct the vocals of each heather were (dukes alto, chandlers mezzo-soprano, mcnamaras soprano) but in this one they just all sound the exact goddamn same and it sucks

xxblueskies! Yet, the actors can actually sing pretty well, but the producers made them sing a musical that wasn’t even in their range which the producers were aware of so they auto tuned the crap out of them. Also, Casey Cott is a Broadway actor. :)
