As far as I can tell the tool is necessary if you are removing the the gear drive from the camshaft. My question is if you are removing and replacing the same camshaft is it necessary to remove the gear? I have to change a valve seal and will be keeping the same cam if it's ok, do I need to use the tool?
Hi i am thinking of doing my valve seals but i want to avoid removing the head.. Did you change the seals? if you did do you have a vid on the process?
Thanks for the video. Small question. I assume you didn't remove the intermediate gear below the camshaft gear? Timing manual says to do so but I've heard many haven't touched it.

No I didn’t change them but you can buy a tool which uses compressed air which hold the valves up whilst you replace them without taking the head off
