A great collection of images Jason for 2023. The Crescent is particularly spectacular. Look forward to seeing more shenanigans at alpha scorpii in 2024. Clear skies
Wow Jason, you got more hrs than you thought! Excellent images, nice collection mate👍 I especially liked the Dark Shark, Lagoon Nebula and wow on the 33hr Crescent 😀 Looking forward to your 24 collection! I haven’t done a 2023 collection video due to the fact the weather has been crap and I really don’t have much to show! I’m hoping, like we all are, for some clear skies in 2024 and so I can get more acquainted with Nina😀 Clear skies Jason!
Hey Jason I love your T shirt that pretty summed up my 2023 lol, you managed to get some fine images there so hope you & your family have a happy 2024 & clear skies my friend
Good Job Jason! Thanks for sharing your images and nice shirt 😊 By the way, my 294mm pro is about to arrive, I hope to take images similar to yours. Greetings from Monterrey Mexico and clear skies.
So excited for your 294MM! it is a great camera. I love the fact that at Bin2 you have 4.63 pixels, and at Bin1 it is basically a 183mm at 2.31 pixels. super versatile camera for both long ang shorter focal lengths. Just remember flats around the 3 to 4 second range is the sweet spot. and ignore the wierd gradients with your S H & O filters when taking flats.. it is very normal. CS
@@AZ4Runner Hi Jason, I hope you are doing well. My Asi 294 mm pro camera already gave me the first imagest. I captured M42 from sky B2. I followed your flats recommendations...I use APT and I used the assistant. I used RGB (between 4 and 5 seconds per flat) and Ha (7 seconds per flat). My RGB looks good but my Ha doesn't, in the master there are some very noticeable gradients. The strange thing is that they also appear in the individual shots. My Ha filter is an Antila 31mm unmonted 3nm. Did you have the same problem? In my Ha flats there are some strange shapes but it is what you had already mentioned to me and that is normal in narrow band filters. I don't know if it's my calibration shots that are wrong. I used to calibrate my masters: Darks, Bias and Flats. I would appreciate any advice you have please. Thank you very much again for your support. Clear skies.
yes, this is exactly what I was talking about. this is normal from everything that I have read with the NarrowBand filters. here is something off the ZWO website regarding the 294. This also relates to the MM camera as well. 1. I noticed amp glow present on the corners of my dark frames, how should I remove it? Please don’t worry about that. The amp glow is pretty normal actually. You may learn “What is Amp glow and how do I manage it?” here: astronomy-imaging-camera.com/faq 2. I’ve heard there might be strange patterns on some ASI294MC Pro stretched images, does this mean the camera is defective? NO, it is not a defect, and it is just a characteristic of the sensor. The pattern calibrates out of the light image with proper flat frames. A proper flat frame is a capture using an evenly illuminated light source, dimmed down to achieve an average ADU value of 24,000 (this is up to the user and their setup - recommended the histogram peak at 1/3 to 1/2 from the left, as shown in the figure below), a 5-second exposure, captured with the same gain and focus point as the light frames.

Hi Jason.
Nice review. That Red Cat is a great scope. I'm looking into that. Happy 2024. I sure hope you are not as hot as it was in 2023 for you.
