Thank you to every tech out there that takes their time to teach a little bit of knowledge out here on you tube your time and experience it’s much appreciated.
Man thank you for this vid! I’ve been wrenching on chillers for the past 9 years and have been left behind in the light commercial equip. Just got sent to install a 20 ton trane split heat pump. I opened the condenser and stared at the new Symbio board like a hog staring at a wrist watch. No more rtrm boards huh? I like this new feature and thanks for the quick run down of the app.
Yep, rtrm are going away and will soon be replaced in the RTUs also. I wasn’t sure if I liked the symbio system, but after I gave it a shot, I really like the features.
I got 6 ton symbio CU and 7.5 ton odyssey AHU with VFD blower and i got error code 83 on the yellow display, CU starts but I cant get the damn blower to start. Trane wont help me because i havent taken the class, any idea what is happening? I need help, this thing is driving me nuts.
I’m about to change a 10 ton condenser that currently the older version of this. It’s a 2 stage straight cool. Question is can I run the existing control wires off the old TTA120 to the thermostat terminals on the new symbio controller and configure through blue tooth and it run? Or do I need to jump wires around to get it up and running. Supposed to do the job new week.
Are you changing out the condenser only? If so, then the wiring is fundamentally the same. Except there is no need to run the twisted shielded wires, because you won't have a board to communicate with on the inside. J21 plug on the symbio condenser is all input or command signals. You really only need the blower output on J18 if you are using an E-stop signal for a smoke detector or some other device.
@@Hvacoffroad Yeah just the condenser that has the reliatel controls. I’m assuming that what the old one has anyways. So i would still need to configure it through the app though correct? Or should it be just plug and play? It’s a straight cool with electric heat only. Thanks for the reply, find this info is pretty vague sometimes.
@@2purplemartin1 most of the condenser settings will already be configured from factory. You’ll have to tell the app what kind of indoor unit, single speed, blower type ect. Make sure it’s configured for a thermostat or BAS, whichever one you are using and remove the filter runtime reminder. I’d check all the settings to be safe.
@@Hvacoffroad We installed that unit to a different airhandler today and it had two Rib relays for the first and second stage AC condenser. You’re right, I didn’t even go into the Symbio controller and it fired right up and staged too. Thanks for the help again!!
Installed an Odyssey Symbio 700 with a BACnet controls and I’m having trouble having them communicate. I have installed this system before just not with a BACnet. the AHU and CU wired correctly just can’t get a startup
Sorry, I've never dealt with BACnet controls. This may be helpful to you. support.trane.com/hc/en-us/articles/5569927480589-Setting-up-Symbio-Bacnet-IP
Got question, I install split system symbio 700 I ran wiring the same way you did and my blower motor did not came on got a warning 017 code can you help please?
I have a dual circuit 20 ton Symbio condenser paired with a constant volume Symbio air handler. No indoor options/heat board. Conventional t stat. Why would both circuits energize with a call from only Y1? I have 2 exact same setups and they both do it. I changed in the app from BAS to conventional thermostat.

Not for vfd configurations with 2 condensers.
It would depend on the air handler that you are using. You would still send the g signal out of J18-1 to the blower signal on the air handler. I you need 24v hot and common, that would come from J15-1,2. Then, if you need y's, w's or an o, you would get that signal from j21 on the condenser.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, a straight cool condenser works fine only for 3 days and than stop working, until i reset the board
Are you getting a fault?
Thank you very much for your great Video !!!
Yeah man, you're welcome!
Thank you 👍

I also my heater kit has 2 wires which the Airhandler has 3 wire hook up?
You have a single stage heater. (2 wires). Connect it to the plug on the right.
Got question, I install split system symbio 700 I ran wiring the same way you did and my blower motor did not came on got a warning 017 code can you help please?
Do you have a VFD air handler? If so, you'll need to run additional wires to get the blower to operate. This video was for a single speed blower.

Is it a heat pump or cooling only? Did you select “staged” under the configuration and specify two stages?
Did you ever figure out why it was doing that and how to fix it? Because I'm having the same issue.
Can we check refrigerant pressures on the app?
I wish we could. But unfortunately, they didn't add pressure transducers to these systems, so we can't.
Can I put backup on a laptop that has Tracer Tu software?
The paperwork with unit doesn’t show 5 or 7 on the dial switch at Airhandler that you recommended for 5 and 7
Yes you need to address it for 5, &
7 if you are using it for electric heat.
So what to do with a Z pairing?

What if you Airhandler is Not Symbio!?!?
It would depend on the air handler that you are using. You would still send the g signal out of J18-1 to the blower signal on the air handler. I you need 24v hot and common, that would come from J15-1,2. Then, if you need y's, w's or an o, you would get that signal from j21 on the condenser.
how to connect an overflow switch
You can break red to the thermostat or use the e-stop terminals on the outdoor. Just depends on how many wires you have available.
I have to reset every 3 days
Compressor proving fault?
by the way its a 10 tons
