    Buddy in an 855 with a directional has been running hooked to one of those little winches for a year or so now.Asked him how he liked being hooked to that tiny thing and he said when it gets real steep he steals the other one from the buncher and hangs from both at the same time. Now they have the bigger winch available so hoping he gets to try that one out one of these days to compare. Only thing he really worries about is if that winch comes dislodged it'll be a nice torpedo headed down the hill towards him. So far, hasn't happened 😁

    It's weird they don't just integrate the winch into the 870 like a winch cat especially with all those trees to anchor off of. Also the wear on the cable has to be way more since the drum is at the top going through the dirt instead of laying on the ground and the drum being on the machine

    Why would it be harder to cut trees going down the hill than up the hill when you can place your tractor in the exact same place going either direction.

    • @wantowski987
      @wantowski987  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Because when your above the tree when cutting down, the back of your hotsaw will hit the bank before you can get it low enough to the ground when your on pretty steep ground, so when coming back up the hill cutting, your on the bottom side of the tree and you can cut a lower stump but have to be careful not to cut to far past the tree because of the bank behind it

    • @puzzled4163
      @puzzled4163 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wantowski987 So as you are going down the hill you will pass the tree and then swing the cab around and cut the tree from the downhill side of the tree. Basically you will be backing down the hill and cutting trees as you pass them and then cutting more trees as you go back up the hill. This should increase your daily profits because you are cutting trees in both directions.
      But what do I know, I have never done what you are doing. But it does look like fun.
