I remember watching these shows when I was little!I loved them then and now.i always watched the ones where he would go and entertain the troops.ih my!my brother was over in Viet nam in the 60s.thank you so much for the memories.merry Christmas to you and your family and may God bless you and your family.👃❄️👼🎅🤶☃️⛄👍👍
Brian Bosworth and Bo Jackson should've had Hall of Fame careers. Bo could've also have entered Baseball 's Hall of Fame. I'm glad both had some success in acting.
Bob Hope did over 270 specials for NBC over the decades. His writers wrote most of the 'jokes' and probably struggled for timely material that was actually funny. Even when they originally aired, many of the monologue jokes were lame. But Hey! It was a Bob Hope special. Always good entertainment, back in the day.
To the naysayers you wished you had his talent and timing and could work into your nineties. Of course he had writers just as presidents have speech writers but he had final say on the material and was a perfectionist. To be one of his writers you had to be the best in the industry and willing to work long hours and be on top of your game all the time . He was one in a million and didn't settle for mediocrity. He was intelligent and didnt need writers to spontaneously make jokes at the dinner table or at holiday events. He worked long hours and never complained. He travelled the globe to bring holiday cheer to our service men and barely missed being killed on more than one occasion on those trips to war torn countries. He supported his family and found time to help me with my school work even if it was on the phone and he was 3000 miles away. Thanks to him I made honor roll when we wrote a paper for English class on the behind the scenes life of an entertainer and thier family. Comedy is the hardest form of entertainment. Actors have scripts they memorize and singers have songs but a comedian has to have new material and timing and be on top of thier game all the time when they perform. For specials from overseas there were hours and hours of tapes to cut and I went once to the studio to watch an overseas Christmas special being made and never wanted to go back again. About half way through it Danny Thomas stopped by and rescued me and took me home. He was also a comic and had a huge heart as is evident today with the st.jude hospital he founded and Marlo keeps his legacy going. My uncle bob adopted 4 kids and then took me in and raised me when the others were grown. He was 62 when he accepted the challenge and I lived and learned from him till he died af home at 100. I was not an easy kid to raise as I was independent and he had me tested and said my iq was higher than Einstein and I was horse crazy so the bills there would put most of you in the poor house but it was my hobby and he had his golf and it kept me safe and grounded when he was away working. He and Aunt Dolores were my legal guardians from age 12 on and they were my world my life my everything and I miss them very much. Each Christmas I play his old shows and listen to a c.d.. both made together. All the entertainers of his era went through the depression and grew up poor and worked darn hard to be successful and earned thier money the hard but honest way and to this day no one has ever been able to replace them. They were legends who gave of themselves to others making others lives better even if it was just for an hour. Heaven's gain 8s humanity's loss.
This is my childhood. Being an 80’s kid was so great.
Being an 80s kid was *awesome*!! I would give anything to go back and re-live it!
I miss Christmas specials such as this, as well as Andy Williams, Perry Como. Used to watch with the folks.
There's a channel called GET-TV that may still run loads of them. If not there's no shortage of them here on TH-cam...
Me too....every year we would watch them and never hardly missed them
Tv has become crap.
I was 9 years old when this aired and I can remember watching it live. The good ole days
Good old Bope Hope ! I miss his Christmas shows!
I remember Bob Hope. I would get excited when NBC announced his specials.

Who is "Bope" Hope? "The Bope Hope Christmas Show "
he is a great guy
My very first Christmas..
I'm surprised at how much taller Brook Shields was than Bob Hope? I never thought of him as particularly short? Or her as especially tall?
R Blakehole Mr. Hope was 5'10" and Brooke is 6' and was probably wearing heels.
@@tessdurberville711 I never realized she was that tall. But, the entertainment industry has been disguising actual heights for a LONG time.
That "MIAMI VICE" skit.
Anymore please
I can see Brooke brought her twin caterpillars eyebrows with her.. lol
@40:00 "Silver Bells" which first appeared in "The Lemon Drop Kid".... (1951)
Emmanuel Lewis is still alive and in good health at age 50.
I remember sitting through these specials as a kid bored to tears waiting for the days to pass so I could open up my fucking Transformer presents.
💙🔥💙🎄🎅🎄
I miss the toilet bowl neck braces on football players
@sboudreaux27 The neck rolls were mostly for show. Fell out of favor.
WHO IS THE ANNOUNCER
The one and only JOHN HARLAN!
Who is the announcer
Brooke Shields only has 7 years on Webster... they both in their 50s
lol
Introduced by John Harlan.
Good clean jokes but they had more than a little innuendo.
i found the brain the boz
It's kind of an SCTV parody of itself, isn't it?
Announcer
This might have been nice to watch, shame its all the wrong shape.
Bope Hope?
Bope Hope
I would like to hear Bob Hope's monologue without the laugh track and the applause after every joke. I'll bet it would fall flat.
I laughed at the Carter peanuts joke.

ah you are just jealous he got all those goodlooking broads to sing with like i dream of jeannie !!!
Hope was in top form when I saw him live in 1977. Absolutely the opposite of his lame Specials.

It looks sooooooooooooooooooo cheap!
Bope is not funny
Bob could have ended his specials here and had a great run. Or, twenty-years before this time.
