- On s'est demandé à plusieurs reprises ce week-end, qu’est-ce qui faisait qu’à l’écoute de ce 5ème album de Baxter Dury, nous nous sentions toujours aussi proches, intimement touchés, par les histoires parfois farfelues, souvent très réelles du plus français des chanteurs anglais ?
Forcement, la voix, la manière de fredonner, de chanter, de pleurer de Baxter Dury doit y être pour quelque chose, et c’est d’ailleurs là la définition même du crooner : provoquer des émotions, susurrer au creux de nos oreilles.
Mais, pourtant cette unique raison ne me comble pas. Il y a autre chose. Baxter Dury a ce talent particulier de nous raconter des histoires de mecs simples, parfois un peu loser, souvent très romantiques, avec une nonchalance et un humour sans pareil. Des albums qui parle au mec tout en touchant les femmes, parce que oui Baxter Dury arrive à révéler la douceur des hommes, leurs failles, leur sensibilité, en restant digne, élégant, en toutes circonstances. Ce n’est d’ailleurs pas un hasard si la pochette de son cinquième album, Prince of Tears, le montre en costume immaculé tentant de gravir une dune de sable. S’enfoncer sans jamais tomber.
Ce nouvel album, est de loin le plus abouti, de la superbe pop made in Baxter toujours accompagné de ses multiples chanteuses, parce qu’aussi Don Juan des temps modernes soit il, il sait comme son idole Gainsbourg, mettre en avant les femmes qu’elles se prénomment Francesca, Lisa, Isabel, Claire ou Margot et toutes les autres.
Prince of Tears, le 5e album de Baxter Dury, est sorti sur LE LABEL [PIAS]. Niveau live, il sera en concert le 1er décembre au Trianon, Paris.

The woman standing at the mic is Madelaine Hart. She's a long-time collaborator with Baxter. Leslie Bourdin is on keyboard and vocals. They both have their own music on TH-cam and elsewhere; all three of them very different from one another. You should check them out.

The first time when I hear Baxter Dury , his name and voice sounds familiar, not having link to Ian. I like this stuff. The voices in the song and the bringing it all together guitars. First life performance vid I have seen and as cool as I expected.
