- The plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant. However, the defendant threw her out and won't return her security, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant claims she evicted the plaintiff because she was always short on rent. The defendant used the plaintiff's security to cover some of the unpaid rent and damages. The defendant is countersuing for additional damages, rent owed, and legal fees.

Agree. Idk why people think they don't have to pay rent because they're being evicted. You're still living there. I know it can be hard to come up with the money to move but that's how it is.
This was during covid. Some ppl couldn't work bc their work was shut down. Most places that were shut down those workers live pay check to paycheck. So even if they were only shut down for a few paychecks those paycheck to paycheck ppl were going to be in a bad way for a while.

@@humansparkler The plaintiff used her government payment for oil to pour into nature instead of giving it to the landlord. It wasn't just tenants who suffered. Duh. She got what she wanted, free living, whilst ruining the defendant. So stop YOUR judgement.

It's absolutely shocking that the Plaintiff is talking about this whole thing as if nothing she was doing was wrong. That she had a right to live there without paying rent. That using the courts to prolong her stay AND GET FREE RENT is absolutely normal and her right. Infuriating.
I feel so bad for the Defendant, she looks absolutely shell shocked and bewildered that she lost. Almost like, "What the h3ll just happened?!?"😂.
The defendant really did look shocked. I felt bad for her. The plaintiff should have only received $20 for the2 blinds the defendant couldn’t prove was damaged.
But the problem the owner will face in many states. What I understand if you start the eviction process but then accept $$$ from the tenant that can stop the eviction. That's why tenants will try to give owners rent money after the process has started they will refuse it. Also most states weren't even processing evictions. Sounds like she volunteered to move out.

She's not smart enough to be a liar. She's lost. Her father showed nothing about his personality.... accusing him of her behavior has no merit. The camera showed him for a quick second, and I thought the father looked at her like "wow, you're my daughter, but you're not making sense-- how did I not see this before?"

Landlords got so screwed during Covid and that’s a big reason rents are sky high now.
We paid our rent the whole time and our landlord has come in clutch and hasn’t raised rent in the 6years we’ve lived there. I can’t imagine not paying rent and thinking we could get away with it.

I paid my bills, but I understand there were a lot of ppl hurt by not being able to go to work. When ppl who live paycheck to paycheck barely making a livable wage go without a few paychecks I am sure they're in a bad way.

$950, unfortunately, is quite reasonable. $700 is better than nothing but one still owes the rest unless a landlord allows you to slide. Get it in writing if she/he does!
I love that the defendant took the money knowing she was not going to proceed with eviction. I would do the same. Late so many times. Landlords have bills to pay.
I recently had to put out a tenant and she’d only lived in the building for 6-7 months. She was late every month but one, and always paid bits at a time. Yes, $700 is better than nothing, but my tenant’s late and partial payments really hurt me financially. We can be forgiving just a few times, then it’s a problem. Glad she’s gone.

What was so corrosive in that oil/grease that would make asphalt melt and crumble ?? The whole driveway was crappy, it had a thin layer of asphalt recoating over the whole surface and it was separating. Not the tenant's fault.

I used to love going to yard sales when I lived in the States, found some amazing bargains. A friend of ours built an amazing 5 bedroom house off the profits of yard sales treasures he would find. Back in the 80s and 90s.

I really dislike certain types of tenants. These are the people that make landlords not want to rent to certain people. This is why you need 40xs the rent, great credit, background checks, paystubs, bank statements, credit reports etc. One bad tenant can ruin a landlords life and cause them to lose everything and the courts let these tenants get away with it.
Plaintiff irresponsible and full of excuses, taking no accountability for her lack of paying rent on time.
