The development of Wing Chun in Macau began in 1966 with the establishment of the Overseas Chinese Macau Wing Chun Fitness Academy. Master Ho Kam Ming, the academy’s founder and a disciple of the renowned Grandmaster Ip Man, trained many students from all walks of life for over half a century. From its origins as an “east meets west” commercial port, Macau has flourished into the vibrant city it is today. In recent years, through the actions and enterprise of Master Ho Kam Ming’s students, the federation has both fostered and participated in several landmark community initiatives. By building ties with local and overseas martial arts groups from various disciplines, it has played an integral role in increasing the profile of Wing Chun, benefiting countless students and practitioners and furthering the spirit of martial arts.

I've always had a strong interest in martial arts and it's good to hear the Chinese government is supporting Chinese martial arts.
There is a rich history of cultural tradition that live on through the federations and associations . The lineages of many traditional styles like hung gar , bagua , jow pai , and drunken style to name a few , are seen today for the treasures they are
As there is much interest nowadays from the states and other countries. As a martial arts I never stop learning , and I've been at it for over 20 years and I feel like I've just touched the surface.

Is there a connection between Wing Chun and the color yellow? I have watched many different TH-cam videos from organizations all over the world, and it appears that many of them have yellow shirts or have yellow stripes on their trousers or lots of yellow in their school logos. There seems to be yellow everywhere. Is there a reason for this?

    Great video!
Only something overall (not specific for this video, just overall):
To write the chinese names in 3 single names is a little bit outdated.
Today in 2021 the western world has adopted to writhe cantonese and korea names with hyphen, and mandarin names together. From today´s standards, Wong Shun Leung should be written as:
Wong Shun-leung or Shun-Leung in cantonese and Huang Chunliang in mandarin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wong_Shun-leung)
Same with other names like Shan Wah-shun or Yim Wing-chun (mandarin Yan Yongchun)
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yim_Wing-chun
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chan_Wah-shun
Not important but maybe interesting for some people.

I am looking for a sifi, Winnipeg I here David Cliff can teach this. What bothers me is there is a million placed to learn “mma” but not one single place devoted to Wing Chun in Winnipeg. So few understand how practical WC is and how it relates to many other aspects if life. I will keep working on Sim Lim Tao, bit of course do use my feet in shadow boxing which I do sometimes on wooden columns, and use a large tapered pole to do sweeps and kicks on as well tan sao and foos sao. Need a wooden dummy and finding a chi sao partner here is going to be nearly impossible. I still do a little tiger style and added in crescent to kicks to ear area, which I now added a second strike, as my foot comes down onto what would be the knee or shin. Feel that is balanced and is a close quarter kick very unexpected. I stand 6’2” and practice hitting points on the columns at my height. Never had to fught anyone as tall or taller then me. But likely in a real fight would keep grounded and use the lower safe kicks and sweeps. Wish I had a tail tiger sweep kick, but maybe just to fancy away. I like to keep it simple and effective. My biggest worry in this city is disarmament of a knife. Can not have enough practice at that, very stabby city.

@@XxxXxx-fm3wo Thank you for your reply and your training you are doing. To tell you the truth my Friend you need to do your research because every instructor has their version of wing chun so there is always be a difference between there way of teaching. I have been through hell learning wing chun from numerous instructers dvds books etc. They all contradict each other at some point. And came to a conclusion that you don't need nobody to teach you wing chun. So best method is to search on utube from all wing chun and other styles and make it work for you. Boxing is closest to a street fight. What you really need to do is ask yourself what are the common attacks you will come across and find the best Techniques to counter the attacks which works for you. Like Bruce Lee said observe whats useful and reject whats useless. The Best Instructer in the World is your SELF.
If Bruce Lee followed wing chun and never questioned what he learnt he would never have achieved World Fame for his way of thinking about Jkd. Hope this helps you my Friend. Best of Luck in your Training and be the Best you can be !

Wow Crestentwood CC, I missed that one. I agree Wing Chun is different from one to another in certain regards. I try to remember that it is principle based and use what works and reject the rest. I an tall, not the best upper back, people assume I look off balance doing things but I know when I am and not. I ride a lot of bicycling, it is my main mood of transportation and have decent balance and leg strength. I always loved to kick but do not use them well in actual fights, so want to keep them effective, hard to pickup and safe as possible to use. I have fast reflex and always had been good at blocking others strikes as I was the younger of two brothers and became naturally defensive. I took pis after my last fight and the bruises indicate I use my forearms a lot. This is a bit of me giving myself away here but I naturally grab throat, and use a claw like grab onto airway, but this sets people off worst if they are very angry to begin. I rather break that bad habit and grapple them down effectively. I seen some Wing Chun that uses grabs that pull the head downward and seen how the leg then goes up and over the back of neck and pushes the opponent down to ground. As well other techniques that use arms to snake around to back of neck. As in a move that is a tan, hans, a trap of wrist with that hand, an elbow strike to tricep with inside arm, then snake that same hand quickly to back of neck or with a hit to side of neck then snake around the neck and pull them over, knee to sternum, and switch the trapping hands and siding the one that was holding wrist to back if shoulder and push them towards ground, and place that outside leg onto there back. Can then hold them or get away. I know writing out a move is hard to follow but you may have seen this. I have practiced it and slowly tried it on a will guy, and in theory seems to work. That type of grappling I feel is within Wing Chun, and want to learn oractical takedowns. I am not out to harm people of course, just want moves that protect and cam be used even in security situations. Sometimes even dealing with people I know who may loss it and go iff but I do not want to injure them bad, just subdue them and then calm them. A bit of an Aikido principal I say. Can harm or just bring down depending on the situation at hand. Thanks you for the feed back and direction.
