He plays the Waltz itself as if it's important and in a Beethovenian style. A compelling idea in itself esp. when one considers the tune itself. Ugorsky haf much to say and has the knowhow to essay great music. His Ustvolskaya,Gubaidulina and Prokofiev sonatas have much to offer. Sorry to hear of his passing Sept.5_2023.
I began thinking he was too original, very startling. But I love it. Each variation has its own personality, and it is very interesting to hear. I think B would have liked it very much.
Ugorski must have loved Gogol. He seems to have stepped out of his pages. So much hardship and still he maintained a humane sense of the absurd. Thanks for posting.
translation: Thanks a lot! I haven’t listened to this piece for a long time, and I want to remember and compare Ugorsky's interpretation with by someone else. Sounded very fresh for me this music is in it performed as if I heard it for the first time. Very clear rhythm, precision of phrases and ringing sounds. Now at me, it's already two o'clock in the morning and it is possible that in the morning - after listening to the recording again - I will perceive it somehow differently - this happens to me. And now, I again want to thank you for Ugorsky. And I thanked him with my smile, looking at him and his hands... 09/16/2023.All the best!
Wonderful. Thank you very much, ADGO. His clarity and singing tone are very beautiful, and I love watching his graceful hands which make me smile. Can’t say I’ve ever enjoyed the Diabelli Variations as much as I have tonight. Will return to this many times.
Totally Sensational.....BRAVO from Acapulco!

R.I.P. Anatol Ugorski
Hans von Bülow called Beethoven's Diabelli variations a complete "abbild" of the musical cosmos. ❤
Спасибо большое!

Bravissimo, sarebbe piaciuto sicuramente a Beethoven
translation : Very good, Beethoven would certainly have liked it
Anatol Ugorski was one of the greatest pianist. He recently passed away, unfortunately. His daughter Dina is also a great artist.

Amazing! Thank you for the upload. Time to rediscover Ugorskij.

51:57 i love this man for his sincerity; But the Diabelli's are over his mental and technical abilities. Too bad ...
