Man I still listen to Augment every day. What you guys were doing as kids basically, comparing it to the ‘top’ metalcore albums of that time, was utterly ridiculous. The crushing heaviness and the beautiful melodies fused together in spectacular fashion. Just brilliant.
I first heard erra in 2012 when i was a freshman in highschool lol. I remember being in math class. Our teacher at the time allowed us to have our phones/ipods out during classwork and i remember Erra Impulse popped up on my phone while i was searching new metal music and ever since that day i knew you guys would be one of my fav bands for a lifetime. Loved hearing all this back story man. Much love 🤟🏼
To this day, Impulse is one of my favorite albums. Those tracks were so far ahead of their time and still hit so hard today. Thanks for creating something that has influenced my life so much!
I never knew Alan got kicked out of ERRA and that’s tragic. I always wondered why he left and still love the band, but no music will ever compare to impulse and augment. I think the majority of fans feel as though the band hasn’t been the same since he left, it it brought him to the place he’s at now, which seems like a good one and that makes me happy. Alan seems like such a great guy and he’s a great musician
I don't know how practical this is. But I'd LOVE Alan to be back with Erra again. Alan added so much to the sound and I'd love to hear modern Erra with his influence.
It makes me upset that i didnt know who ERRA was back in my highschool days... i discovered ERRA 3 years ago and i love every album, my Metalcore days would have been alot better and different if i discovered ERRA during the Augment Era in 2013.. i felt like i re-discovered what Metalcore was when i learned who ERRA was 3 years ago.
White Noise, Seven, Heart, Impulse opened my eyes, ears, heart and soul. Augment evolved everything from there ... Cannot wait to see what else is to come, amazing to see you in 2022 with this new arc

Erra is the most important band in the world to me dude this video was so good. I found Erra through a "best breakdowns" video back in 2010 that had Of Rare Reform, and I immediately fell in love with the band. Augment and Impulse are my favorite albums ever made, and I can't thank you and everybody else in the band enough for everything Erra made from beginning to Augment.
Wow dude. I found ERRA in 2012 and fell in love. I still listen to the augment and everything before nonstop. This music has been there for me through the best and worst times in my life. Good to see someone else that feels the same.
I was a freshman in high school. I was in a band so while I had any class that involved computer work I was on Spotify the whole time. And one day in December of 2011 I came across a band named ERRA. The album artwork looked gorgeous and I was like alright let’s do this. I hit play on their new album “Impulse” and I hear this melodic build up into this amazing break down pattern with a melodic lead over it and immediately I was in love. From that day on I was a die hard ERRA fan and still am today. When Alan and Garrison left it was definitely a hard transition to become comfortable with. Ian was a giant difference in vibe and feel but the instrumentation and song writing was still very much Jesse and ERRA. When Drift came it started a new era for ERRA that I love just as much as Impulse and Augment. But I have vinyls of Impulse and Augment hanging in frames in my studio because those two albums built me into the guitarist AND person I am today. Thank you Alan for what you did with this band. It wouldn’t have happened without you and I think your talent is second to none. I subbed to your channel hope to see more content in the future
Thank you so much for the support bud! I’m honored to have been part of the reason why so many people enjoyed those records. I’m still speechless to this day and vey thankful for it. I appreciate that sub too! 🤘🏽
Augment and Impulse are the best Erra albums. Probably 2 of my all times favorite albums ever! The albums that followed after are good but honestly just don’t hit the same. Especially without Garrisons vocals. Glad you are doing good brotha! Love what you do with the Artificials!
Alan, your music have reached the islands of the Philippines. That's how awesome you are as a musician. A lot of guitarists here treat you as one of their main influences.
You've probably heard this a million times but Augment is my favorite album of all time for SO many reasons. It is a masterpiece. Thank you for your contribution Alan, you should be proud seriously.
Been a fan of erra and the artificials for over a decade. Met you about 5 times over the years. Getting this inside scoop makes me giddy. Love hearing about the history!
Birmingham native, that damn carvin is definitely in my top 10 favorite guitars I’ve ever seen lol. Took a couple lessons from Jesse back in the day. Pretty sure there is a tabit file he loaded up on my old laptop of isolation blue. Got to hear it in 8 bit form about 3 months before andromeda came out lol.
You never fell off, you only gained a better perspective of life. Great work with Erra but great job at keeping your happiness and peace of mind. Keep it up man 🤘🤘🤘
I discovered ERRA about a year ago from a youtube video from Nik Nocturnal. I was searching for some nice drop A# songs to learn outside of a band called Miss May I that I really like. Funny enough, they have a song called "The Artificial". One of my favorites from them. I was searching for something like heaviest or coolest drop A# riffs. I was keeping tabs open on the riffs I liked until he played that tapping lick from Rebirth. I was like damn, that sounds so techy and tight. I immediately paused the video to search for this song and low and behold. I was greeted with a nice warm melodic piano intro and what would become the best band to pleasure my ears. ERRA is one of the very few bands that I have connected with on a deep emotional level. There has never been another band that I have resonated better emotionally an musically. They have transformed my own guitar playing tremendously. The synergy y'all must've had back then was godly and I don't think it can be topped. Impulse and Augment are my personal top albums of all time. The newer stuff is nothing short of top notch especially the self titled album but I feel my soul warmly touched from the intense passion of Andromeda --> Augment. These were albums that I had to listen to one song at a time several times each because they take time to really break down and feel. The melodies go really deep and the dissonant chords done right just bring out so much emotion. Same song, something new on every listen. IMO Impulse and Augment were far ahead of their time. Every one of those songs are bangers. You know they are when people online cant agree what the best songs are. I Just wanted to say thank you to you and the other band members for guiding me through a difficult period in my life and helping me to transform.
Glad you found our music and how it helped you get through difficult times! Erra is definitely a different beast now, but I appreciate it for what it is.

Your music and playing has great influence on me as listener, guitar player and song writer as well. Here in Russia listeners of prog metal have lots of respect to ERRA.

Erra will NEVER be the same. Impulse and Augment have a special place in my heart. White Noise still remains in my Top 5 songs. Always listening to it in the gym. Garrisons pure, raw vocals and Alan's serene melodic guitar play is what made Erra, Erra. No offense to the boys now but I can't stand the current Erra. Their music is catering to mainstream and they are losing their touch. Thats what made Erra unique they evolved Metalcore with their distinct sound but I feel as if they no longer carry that distinct sound. Really hoping that Alan, Garrison, Alex, Adam and Jesse can play as Erra again. Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable with us Alan. We'll always support you and The Artificials.
wow man incredible to hear things got started. This makes your departure even worse. Quality of Augment will never be reached again by this band, though their selftitled is pretty dope.
Once you got kicked out (which I didn’t realize that was the case), I realized how much I enjoyed your riffs compared to Jesse’s. Augment is definitely one of my favorite metalcore albums of all time
And they've never been the same since you left. You can hear from the later stuff that the earlier work is clearly more influenced by your style of playing. Always preferred it to their new stuff (although the self titled one was their best so far without the original lineup). It was more technical sounding back then. Every ones loving Augment (which is great don't get me wrong) but where's the the love for Impulse? Every song on that album is gold. Didn't they lose their guitarist recently? Hint hint wink wink
Not the case at all. We worked hard playing local shows for years, but what really got our foot in the door was connections within my previous band Broadcast The Nightmare.
Augment is my favorite album of all time. I've listened to it hundreds of times. It's borderline life changing

Augment is definitely one of my favorite metalcore albums of all time
I love u
And they've never been the same since you left. You can hear from the later stuff that the earlier work is clearly more influenced by your style of playing. Always preferred it to their new stuff (although the self titled one was their best so far without the original lineup). It was more technical sounding back then. Every ones loving Augment (which is great don't get me wrong) but where's the the love for Impulse? Every song on that album is gold. Didn't they lose their guitarist recently? Hint hint wink wink
Erra had someone’s daddy funding their rise.
Not the case at all. We worked hard playing local shows for years, but what really got our foot in the door was connections within my previous band Broadcast The Nightmare.
