@andrewadams6905 weird, because it looked like Russia was trying to find every which way for peace and calling for stopping the killing of Russian speaking population. It was the west dragging things with bogus peace agreements to arm Ukraine for this conflict. Btw a lot more regions would've seceded. But the nazi battalions had a firmer grip on populace in other regions. Voices of dissent were and are a death sentence. I am grateful to you for the interview with Arestovich. I want to say that to restore the full picture, you should conduct an interview with analyst SERGEY LYUBARSKIY. This is why I was so surprised when Trump implied that the US might reduce its commitment or even withdraw from NATO if the other members won't increase their defense spending. I was surprised for two reasons. First, the US makes the most amount of money from being in NATO - Americans are pissed that the US spends billions on military aid for Ukraine, but who do you think benefits from that the most? Who fullfilles those contracts? The US military complex.
You think those billions should have been spent on improving the lives of Americans and you're probably right, but the reality is that money was never meant for American citizens. Only American interestes.
Second reason is that since 1990 only one country truly benefited from NATO - the US. The only time when Article 5 was activated was after 9.11.
Do you really think that Trump will be able to go against the US military complex? This is a genuine question, I'm not being facetious. Republican voters seems to think so, but I think it's naive to believe that.

In addition, the Russian people (the “Rus”) really began in Kiev a thousand years ago (see also Prince Vladimir accepting Christianity in Kiev 1000 years ago as well). One needs to also see invasions by Vikings, Poles, Mongolians, and many others over the centuries, culminating with German invasions in WWI and Ii. In WWII Russia lost a full third of their population, thus having the biggest body count. So, as the saying goes, “it’s not paranoia if they really are out to get you!” So, irrespective of me not being a fan of the Communist era there, put in context a fair person would have to see their concern over NATO expansion and putting troops and missiles ever closer to their borders is not an unreasonable concern for them. It’s really no different than China engineering a pro-Chinese government in Mexico, making an alliance with Mexico, and allowing troops and missiles in Mexico on our border. We would also freak out over that (see Cuban missile crisis). As PBD points out, there were opportunities for NATO and the US to have made better diplomatic choices.

The foreign agent law is not something unique to Russia: The US has a foreign agent law since 1938. The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) (22 U.S.C. § 611 et seq.) is a United States law that imposes public disclosure obligations on persons representing foreign interests, requiring such “foreign agents” to register with the Attorney General. As amended over the years, it applies broadly to anyone who acts on behalf of a “foreign principal” to, among other things, influence U.S. policy or public opinion.

Pretty good simplified explanation of the conflict. Very unexpected to hear it from someone in US. Very brave of you, sir. No doubt you just earned a lot of haters. Just wanted to point out one very important fact. Ukraine never possessed (owned) nuclear weapons. It was Soviet Union weapons stored on a territory of a newly created state. Ukraine had no controls over them at no point of time. We no doubt have nuclear weapons stored in a state of California. If California declared independence and it was accepted by the rest of the country, would governor of California get the nuclear codes and all of the nuclear weapons would remain in CA? No, absolutely not. It is the same with Ukraine which never had (owned, possessed) nuclear weapons.
