I upgraded to shoot 10 bit CLOG3 for weddings about six months ago and literally pulled my hair out watching 100's of videos that did not improve my skills one single bit. This recent shoot, I vowed to change that. I then found you. You are the secret sauce in my world now. OMG bless thee forever! Spot on tutorial.
Thank you for your help Qazi. I have learned so much about this video. I have shot my first wedding and this was the perfect video I was searching for. Ofcourse I had not the best camera ever and I actually had bad lighting, but the footage turned out better because of you. Ofcourse I cannot achieve what you did here, but I am beyond greatful.
Man this was really nice. Great job!
Thank you, brother. keep pumping out epic content.
Saw the screen grabs on Instagram and HAD to come check this out because of how good the skin looked. Keep up the great work!
epic!
This color grading channel is the best I have seen in TH-cam! 🔥 A hidden treasure of the internet 🌟🌟🌟
Ayyyy. Much ❤️
Love seeing another colorist's techniques and approach to grading weddings. I always come to watch your techniques and ways you approach grading. Very helpful in this video and excited to see you work on wedding footage! Loved the glow effect as well. Subtle but powerful. I will mention though that like 75% of wedding videographers do not shoot in LOG or even 10bit much less raw like this video. Would be helpful to see a wedding example in 8bit and with a location involving more than the blue wall and skin tone colors since that is a more real life example. When using the HSL and adjusting the luminance of the red point, 8bit footage showcases artifacts most of the time even with that much adjustment as you did in this video. I have a lot of trouble using any luminance adjustments in 8bit in the Hue vs Luma section. What other ways would you recommend lifting just the skin exposure without introducing artifacts on non-log non-raw footage?
I agree with looking at an 8-bit file!. Something out of a Sony A7 III or Canon 5D Mark IV would be cool to see. As always grat info! Between the -30 on color boost and the Glow effect - we win!
Yeah, 8bit not so great for heavy grading. You probably better off with Qualifer than Hue vs Luma (in my opinion useless at 8bit).
@whiteinrevery I loved this approach and technique as well. I also enjoy your content :) I actually did this same grade on an 8-bit clip and worked really well. It was of course in a really good natural-lit clip I had. I would love to see like you suggested some other grading approach to a not-so well-lit footage wich happens more than 60% in weddings.
Hey it's WIR! You guys aren't shooting 10bit with your GH5s? I figured that's what you would be sticking with, but I know each situation is different
@@avsvisual6786 We are now shooting Vlog 10bit on the S1 and S5. Vlog is so much better than V-Log L in our opinion which is why we never worked with V-Log L on the Gh5 and stuck with Natural Profile.
This is the best wedding video color tutorial I've ever seen. Taking my grading skills to the next level!
Much love brother
Why you didn't do CST on this one? Thanks for the awesome tutorials!!!
I bet he still doesnt know about it that time. I mean this video uploaded 4 years ago hahaha
YOU GOTZ TO BE MY DAVORITE COLOR-GRADER, AT THE MOMENT! ! !
Thanks so much for all your SUPER content and TIPS!
Midtone detail to -30 just solved a problem I was having doing 4K videos of family members. Thanks man, you really saved my bacon!
Waqas Qazi with your tutorials I am going further to the professional point.
Thank you for that willingness to teach beginners.
Thanks greetings from Ecuador.
Thank u mann, love your video. Can u make a video how to color grade travel video ^^
Thanks. Will do.
Super helpful! Helpful to see your keyboard inputs. I'm going through a wedding video I shot using this tutorial and it's really helpful. Love your teaching style.
Awesome.
you are my mentor for color grading thanks a lot for all the tips !!
😀🙏🏽
i love your videos! can we have more tutorials on 8 bit footage? maybe sony HLG3 this time.
in my masterclass bit.ly/2YGHMJO
Hey! I really appreciate all your videos here. I've been learning a ton!
Could you do a video on how to grade Real Estate videos?
They're a lot of people who do them for work (including me) and I can't seem to find out the best way to do it.
The client wants it bright inside the house but we don't want to maintain contrast and keep details in the windows because the view often sells the property. Also, mixed color lighting. We might have white walls, with blue coming from the windows and orange from the incandescent.
How would you color grade a real estate video?
Thank you! As always and amazing video. I was just hoping you would touch on how to copy and past that node tree to all clips? If it is even possible..
"Value bomb" signed, sealed & delivered. THANKS WAQAS!
😂💪🏽
I am premiere pro user , but after watching your videos, tutorials , I wanted to switch in Davinci resolve from now 😊 thanks for such great videos ❤️💻
Of course. You'll never look back.
Wish I could watch this now, but hopefully you’ve got this one set to be viewable tomorrow!!
baldwinvp yes please make it viewable!
Respect from Russia! It's really awesome! We have no tutorials like this one on russian youtube. Thank you for the great example)
This video was amazing, thank you so much 🙏
You’re chanel is absolutely amazing! Thank you very much for what are you doing! I will definitely get your masters class! But at this moment is very difficult!
looking forward to it. Let's go!
Bro, you're a beast with them grades! Absolutely mindblowing! Subscribed. Jazakallah.
Let's go!
Dude you're so good. I hope you're a millionaire because you deserve it
Close 😜
Look and Tutorial are amazing ! Thanks about that
I was just wondering with which camera was this filmed? Because I think you did not mention it but just said "Shoot in LOG"
Thanks a lot
This is a very good vedio, and may I know What Mac do you use...?
Hey there, thanks for this great content.
One question : why did you choose to not do the CST on this footage and do it manually ? Thanks
Wow'd again as always, Mr. Qazi. Thank you so much; I am definitely using these techniques in my future wedding films.
Have fun!
what a great tutorial men many thanks...
one thing i need to know sir when u pull the highlights why didn't use ur 1st node as highlight node?
I'ma def register on that class, one day!
First thing first: that lens I wanted to buy since a year or so.
I REALLY wanna take that class and pay for this knowledge.
It seem that you think of every aspect I am also curious about and put it out in such a meaningful and simple way!
AN INSPIRATION!
Looking forward to seeing you in FCM, brother.
I was so stoked on this video. Why did you take the last one down?
Can you tell me what kind of equipment you have? What is all this stuff for? is it really necesary? and how much does it all cost?
Amazing work! Thanks for the incredible content. If you don’t mind me asking why do prefer not to start with a conversion LUT for the camera? You work directly with the log? Is that for better control? Thanks 👍🏻
gives me much more control of my image to start with LOG.
Waqas Qazi Thanks for the reply! I’ll give that a go as well then. Do you ever use the REC 709 conversion LUTs to see what the DOP was viewing when they lit/recorded it? Or always just start with log?
I've been watching and learning from your videos to become a better color-grader...honestly, I think you're the only one teaching this subject. My question to you is the wealth of knowledge you're teaching on color grading using is it better to start using DaVinci or can I keep using FCPX?
Ur video made me educated...thank u so much sir😊
Glad to hear that
So good, so clean colors. The style of grade is perfect.
Thank you
Seems like one of the nicer lighting scenarios you can ask for. I'm trying to use this video to color grade the wedding party getting ready in a yellow room with both fluorescent and natural light. I might throw my computer. Awesome videos though. You persuaded me to sign up for your Master Class.
Let's go!!!
@@theqazman Yeah!!! I am going to throw my computer!!! Thanks Waqas!!!
This video made me subscribe. You have legit talent!
Thank you 😀🙏🏽
can you also provide free slog footage to practice with? that would be of great help ty
I really really enjoyed all your tips.. So professional and friendly... And easy to understand. Thank you so much!
You're welcome 😀
Hey! Just starting to make the jump from premiere to resolve thanks to you and a fellow wedding filmmaker! Dropping bombs you are sir! First question (of many I have) how do you do that "swipe" at the end to compare node by node? I want to upload my progress using your lesson techniques! Thanks for sharing!
great video. First one of yours I've watched. I run almost the exact same process and extremely simular node try for fast turn projects. Encouraging...
Awesome
The difference this edit made is almost shocking👍👍👍
🙏🏾
waqas bro thankyou soo much you teaching is fab bro
Thanks
You best teacher I have met
Thanks
I don't see the brighness option in the glow part #21:02 do you know where I can find it in the version 17? thanks
Hi, can you make a vid about grading and working with 8 bit footage ? Would love to see you work around that. Thanks.
I have bit.ly/2wdU3Kb
I like it! Grain was a little heavy for my liking but love all impact all the other nodes had!
Keep up these great videos these tips always help me with my work
and my TH-cam channel Thank You 🙏🏾
Awesome to hear.
Qazi, love your content; it's a huge difference-maker. Keep it up!
Thank you. Will do.
You are the best Qazi, more skillz to you
appreciate the love
Did you start with log footage here? Hard to tell on youtube.
Thank you so much for this s tutorial
I'm going to join your class😁😁😁😁🌹🌹😉😉💖💖💖
Let's go!!!
Great stuff brotha! Thank you for making this 🙏🏻
Of course
@@theqazman this video is very useful for us, wedding worker, I hope to see more focus on wedding than general cinema/videomusic, such as specific workflow, how to recover bad footage (this is a common problem when coloring wedding), how to overcome specific camera defects, such as magenta skin problem with sony cameras etc etc, different wedding color styles, wedding is a whole different world! :)
Look forward to watching this tomorrow!
We only wish we could get project files with tutorials.. Qazi!! Thank you for your dedication though.
in the masterclass.
Amazing bro please do more tutorial for wedding
and we have to do that way to all footages??😃
Really took this Z Cam footage to the next level!
EDIT: this video might make me switch to Resolve
真是一個很好的影片 謝謝Qazi 🥰🥰🥰🥰
That was too amazing its very nice after result came out of the video
Thanks
please tell us what camera the bride clip was shot on?
You may not answer , but why you didn’t use the cst?
great job man, but isn't it the same or easyer when we colorgrade it premiere pro? it ask to mutch time if you must color grade a full wedding movie :D
I have
in what format to shoot?HLG or rec709?
This is so helpful for me thanks you sir😍
You're welcome
What was the picture profile used for the raw footage?
I'm on the glow part but the "Brightness" setting is missing in DR 17
Hi, which camera settings di you use to grab the original unprocessed footage?
Awesome! Learning so much these days.
Would love to hear "the worst nightmares of a colorist" from you!
Like - whats the hardest footage to grade on?
What could the Camera man have done better on Set to avoid these types of "hard to grade" footage? greetings from Germany!
FCM Fam
great suggestions I will add it to my live tomorrow
Fantastic
Amazing content you have here!
Which camera was used? In Portugal wedding's normally we use sony's most of the time, so we work with 8 bit. Is that 8 bit s log or it's from blackmagic?
Keep the amazing work ;)
this was shot on blackmagic
Thank you so much for sharing your videos here on TH-cam! Learning a lot.
I was wondering: do you know if it's possible to add a missing hair light in post using resolve? i.e. when the subject's hair doesn't separate well from a dark background for example.
There is no plugin for missing hair light you just have to lift your gamma and use maybe a custom curve to really get more detail out without losing the punch.
@@theqazman Thank you so much! Will give it a shot
im rewatching the old videos and im curious, is it a proper way to color grade footage without any kind of color space transformation?
CST makes the grade easier and a bit more predictable but there's nothing wrong with setting up rec.709 manually as seen in this video.
@@theqazman thank you so much for responding❤️ I've grown and keep growing so much thanks to your channel
Hello dude I need help for my project.. I shoot a scene inside rooom... With the BMPCC 4k and vintage lens...it's very difficult to recover the color in white clean
you are doing a really great job, appreciated
is this before cst? idt and odt
Great Video. Liked & subscribed.
Insane as always!
Thank you, my brother. FCM fam.
Amazing video! Every single node you worked on made her look more and more like a goddess! 😀 Just one small request, kindly put at least one color grading video out of Sony 8-bit footage, it would be a major help!! 🙏🏻
What do you think the difference it'll make? I didn't use any qualifiers so what in your mind is the huge change that'll happen that you're not seeing here? I can make 4 bit image look like RED. I'm teaching you the skills and majority is hung up on the semantics.
@ Waqas Qazi I worried if grading on 8-bit may result the outcome to be not so clean.. but if you’re saying so, the “8-bit factor” won’t matter at all.. thanks
@@PratyushTyagi Well, obviously 10-bit, 12-bit, 100-bit... helps the final footage look clean as heaven,
BUT the have you watched Netflix a lot, or at least lately?
THERE IS NO MOVIE, NO SERIES, NO VIDEO, that does not have "banding" or where the "black" areas look "pixelated" or the detail is lost!
That is because COMPRESSION.
People always forget this.
Especially on TH-cam!
Man, there are videos shot on RED, "Hollywood" cameras etc. that do not look that much different from regular aps-c/full-frame consumer cameras...
And, AGAIN, I mean this in terms of TECHNICAL image quality (cause TH-cam compresses the hell out of everything and converts everything to its own
format, which I think is 8-bit anyways).
BUT, the DIFFERENCE you DO SEE in "Hollywood", pro color-graders (like Waqas here) etc. and "amateur"-ish videos,
is ALL THESE STEPS this man put out in this video.
You will notice when someone just slapped a LUT on everything and pressed export or when someone stayed couple of hours, perfecting their final LOOK.
Much love,
L.
wow i am a full fan now i call you boss
hey brother how to high brigness video colore correction
What was this shot on? Held up really well!
Pocket 4k
No wonder.... 😍
Great job, thanx so much
You're welcome
Amazing boi

You're very welcome
Amazing color grading!

This is soo helpful!! , I’m looking forward to revamping my TH-cam channel, using quality videos
that is awesome. Let's go!
Thank you so so mush! This is golden information!!
Thank you
Love your videos..Have learned a lot from you !!!. However you should take a look at indian weddings man!! there are so much colors and most videographers here do not use even LOG footage ..let alone RAW :(
AWESOME as always 🎉🎉🎉
Much love.
Very nice content dude! I am looking forward keep it up great work!!!
What do you prefer to edit videos premiere pro or divinci? because I am thinking to switch to davinci over 15 years of editing on premiere ... I think the workflow edit and grading on davinci is besser then when we edit on premiere and then switch to davinci?!
cheers
Niro
I moved to resolve for everything and I'm not going back. 💪🏽
Dude your setup studio is dope! And wow what a great ideal footage to show how to colour your videos :D such amazing woman there :).. davinci to me feels comblicated.. i havbe filmora, but filmora cant fix video noise.. should i upgrade to davinci, i need video noise fix sometimes.
You totally should
Love your tutorials, you are treasure !
Thank you so much!
MY MAN QAZ THE BLUE MONSTAH ON DECK!
let's go!
I am from China and want to register for your master class. My English is very poor, but I can translate subtitles when watching on TH-cam. In your master class I think I cannot understand your explanation. What should I do?
can i have this footage for practice ?
