Some incredible musicians, who were groundbreaking. May they be remembered for evermore. And like the classical composers and Jazz greats of the past. Be acknowledged for what they were.
This was really really good. Well done, Barry. It's cool that you had Dean Brown on this list! One notable miss (not a criticism, just making a note of it) is someone Dean Brown played with and played the saxophone solo on David Bowie's Young American: David Sanborn as well as James Taylor's "How Sweet It Is" among others, plus his excellent solo jazz work-one of the most talented saxophonists.
Great tribute Barry, but one disappointing omission: Greg Kihn (1949-2024), age 75, rocker from the San Francisco Bay Area, he had a huge hit in 1983, “Jeopardy,” which hit #2 in America in 1983. It was then parodied by Weird Al Yankovic as “(I Lost On) Jeopardy.” RIP Greg.
It's deliberate to get a response, more comments, the more riches. it's a con ,it's very disrespectful and shouldn't be aloud, but you'll see this in quite a lot of these so-called tributes
They all made this world a better place.
Thank you for sharing. Very thoughtful of you.
You are so welcome
RIP to all these talented gifted musicians.

Thank you for sharing those talented musicians we’ve lost this year.
Thank you; also C.J. Snare, lead singer from Firehouse passed away.
The list is not complete without him. RIP
This was really really good. Well done, Barry.

Nice classy tribute 👍👍
We also lost Jimmy Hastings, who made such a valuable contribution to the Canterbury scene.
Pye's brother if I recall (?). Jimmy's sax and flute was lovely on those classic Caravan albums.
It must take you hours to put this together Barry but it is much appreciated.
Thank you very much. Can only think of one miss - Kay Russell died on the 28th September at the age of 72. Excellent work.
Thanks Barry. Very comprehensive. A few there that I didn't know had died too. All the best for 2025.
I played bass for 50 years and never heard of most of these people. R.I.P. I'm 70 and getting nervous. Maybe gotta wrap things up.
Thank you Barry.Just a mention for Françoise Hardy who died in june
A lot of talent there. Blimey, makes you wonder who we’re going to lose in 2025 🥺
Thank you, at least we have recordings.
Well done. RIP to all
What about Mojo Nixon, Toby Keith, Bob Bryar, Johnny Neel, Ka, Tommy Cssh and so many others?! RIP to all :)
Thanks for the tribute. I didn't know about Chris Cross and Del Palmer.
Ahem! - Frank Ifield (typo).
Not a well known name, but composer Cynthia Weil(of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil)passed, too.
Awesome tribute. Randy Fuller was in his bro's band Bobby Fuller Four. Also Jerry Miller of Moby Grape.
Você esqueceu do grande Sergio Mendes...
Gerry Conway R.I.P
Colin Petersen (24 March 1946 - 18 November 2024) (original drummer Bee Gees)
Beautiful tribute.
What is the music that is playing?
John Camp of Renaissance recently.
I'm still finding it hard to believe... 💔
Incredibly sad. He was brilliant.
Oh really? He was brilliant.
Dean Brown...1955-2024.....Age 49..!!!
Quincy Jones (1933 - 1924) @7:35
Died before he was born.
RIP
Didn't know Jack Green played with T Rex. I remember him from latter day Pretty Things.
Not really known over here but Greg's band were fairly big in the States. They were really good too. RIP Greg.
Didn't Colin Peterson of the Bee Gees pass too?
Karl Wallinger (The Waterboys & World Party)
I hadn't heard about IASOS.
Wow! I did not know that Melanie had died.
Great singer. I wonder if Brand New Key would get past the BBC censors today ?
I think John Hawken is probably better known as a member of Strawbs and Herbie Flowers is best known as a member of Sky.
Herbie also did a ton of studio work for Elton John.
Gerry Conway longer in Fairport than jethro Tull and Karl Wallinger more world party
@@TheGenreman Correct - 24 years with Fairport as against 5 with Tull.
* C. J. Snare - Firehoure ..........2024
Natural causes? The jab? Tribunal? The one that hit me the most was Mike Pinder, felt more personal to me. RIP
Looks like your editor died as well. Ya might wanna check some of those dates and ages...
