Holy mackerel, what a haul (or present)! 1) DC CAB has more stars than JUDGEMENT AT NUREMBERG: Gary Busey, Max Gail, Charlie Barnett ("Noogie" from Miami Vice), Irene Cara, Bill Maher, Whitman Mayo, Paul Rodriguez, De Wayne Jessie (aka Otis Day), Jill Scholoen, Timothy Carey, and on and on. 2) BABYLON BERLIN is amazing. I like the interplay of the leads. Liv Lisa Fries is fearless and one of my favorite contemporary actresses. 3) Looking forward to your review of ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO which I've never seen.
Rough Night In Jericho is fantastic. Or I find it to be, since I have such affection for both Dean Martin and George Peppard. Dean Martin gives the only true villain role of his entire career, and he's SO GOOD at being bad. It's a fairly-smart script about a man who sets himself up as a little king of the the town and has to be deposed. Dean Martin wasn't necessarily convincing anymore as a charming, carfree cowboy as seen in Texas Across the River (though I still enjoy him and that film), but he clicks perfectly in Rough Night in Jericho as an egomaniac who will not be denied. Recommended.
I just watched Hound of Dracula a few nights back and it has a great commentary! The commentators do three Dracula films by Kino and if you ever want to listen to them chronologically it's "Zoltan", "In Search of Dracula", and "Billy the Kid vs. Dracula" being the latest. They are extremely entertaining commentaries and they still work if you listen to them out of order which I did haha.
Ah, nice to hear! My only regret about Billy the Kid vs Dracula (which is such a fun movie) is that the internal studio restoration team didn't properly replicate the day-for-night scenes, so we've got scenes that take place in broad daylight where the characters are talking about how it is night time. So now we've got a vampire western that takes place entirely in the day time. Unfortunate!
@@CerealAtMidnight ah yeah I wasn't sure if that was the same in the original version of the film. As I have known plenty of films that did poor day for night. But that's good to know!
The Hoyt Axton song you were referring to was called "Della And The Dealer", which he performed on an episode of WKRP In Cincinnati". My favorite Hoyt Axton song was the theme from the film "Buster And Billie" starring Jan-Michael Vincent from Sector 5 (Rick And Morty reference) along with Robert (Freddy Kruger)Englund in his film debut. I saw the movie twice at the drive-in. The first time it was second on the bill with ",The New Centurions", the second time it was first on the bill with "Aloha Bobby And Rose". I wish this would come out on Blu Ray but it didn't even come out on DVD.

Ive got a bunch of recent codereds and there not numbered on the spines anymore ive noticed. Have also noticed a lot of reissues have been happening between all these labels, really hoping Joysticks on blu gets reissued in a slip
Little nibble of trivia: if I am not mistaken, the Spanish term "vaquero/bacquero" became the English term "Buckaroo". Don't *quote* me, but the logic is there.
My 9th grade English teacher told me a story about going to a Drive-In theater. With her friends to go see the film "Dracula's Dog," all them thought the film was bad and laugh through out it. When watching the movie, one of her friends went up to a car, and jumped on the roof and started howling. The people in the car immediately got out of the car scared. When they went back to school, they all wrote to there teacher. That there favorite film of the summer was "Dracula's Dog" as a joke. She told me this, when I asked her if she heard about a few obscure movies. She then told me about this movie.
This was a incredible haul! I really wanted Rush with Jason Patrick , The Wild Bunch and Cool as Ice which is a movie that helped me through some hard times due to my handicap and I've been wanting to get it over the years but hopefully I'll be able to get it soon after it's release on blu-ray. I missed out on Solarbabies which was another movie that I want but they don't have it anymore but hopefully somebody else will release it? Ebay is always ridiculous. Great video and I love seeing what's available and what others have.
I want to check out The War blu-ray, but heard poor things relating to the transfer. Nice to note the often inclusion of commentary for KL titles. Thanks!
One Tony Curtis movie that I want to get is "Six Bridges To Cross"' which is about the Brinks robbery. My mother dated one of the robbers. Another person that Tony Curtis played, Albert DeSalvo in "The Boston Strangler", exposed himself to my mother and my father beat the crap out of him for thst. In the Boston Strangler film William Marshall (Blacula) played Senator Edward Brooke, who had an affair with Barbara Walters. My mother was his receptionist for Brooke after my father died. One more Connection with people I know, my best friend's mom was an airline attendant in the 60s and she had James Garner as a passenger in 1965. She didn't know who he was but thought that he was so handsome that he should be in movies. She also showed me a picture of herself with William Holden, who was still young at the time of the picture.
Hi Heath! I'm from the Canadian west coast in Victoria BC! I was just wondering if Kino Lorber ships outside of the United States? I assume that it would cost more to ship outside the states!
I don't believe Kino ships outside of the U.S., Wayne. However, a way around this is to order from a company that does, such as Amazon, Deep Discount, or others. It means that their epic sales aren't really an option, but their regular prices are almost always very fair, usually in the $15-18 dollar range. Good luck!
Hey Heath, bit of a random question, have you ever come across a release that was a limited edition not in quanity but in time? So for instance only available from february 1 2020 to october 1 2020.

I notice this happens with Kino Lorber, too, but they don't advertise the end date of their deals.
I just re-watched The Allnighter a few months ago. I first saw it in 1987 when it came out and I liked it. However, watching it now in 2021, I realized it's not a good movie. LOL!
It has things to like (the best thing it has going for it rhymes with Loan Musack), but it doesn't quite hit the mark. Cool to see Susanna Hoffs, and I like the music and the beach-side 1987 atmosphere, but it's missing something.
did you hear of dvd disc rot ? from day one to now i have not lost one dvd disc but i have seen alot of used discs at used stores , have you hit up used pawhshops the dollar tree or stores stay safe ! and happy dvd hunting
I think disc rot is not much of an issue for people that take care of their discs. I also have never experienced it from my own collection, and I have thousands and thousands of movies. I believe it has to do with how the discs themselves have been cared for. Taking them out of their case, leaving them on the top of the TV, or in a CD wallet will definitely take a toll, but proper care goes a long way. Anti-physical-media people love to bring up disc rot, but those of us with large collections who keep the movies in their cases on a shelf seem to be largely unaffected by the phenomenon.
I do like Faye Dunaway, but frankly (hot take!) I like Brosnan's Thomas Crown Affair SO MUCH BETTER-- tbh I fell asleep during the original! I am *SORE* tempted to grab a few more of my digital books because I am afraid Scribd is gonna yoink them. College-press prices on books...Yikes...
Well, speaking of the Rat Pack's reaction to the psychedelic movement, it's noteworthy that Sinatra covered the Beatles multiple times and called "Something" the greatest love song of the last 50 years.
Oh, and ... DC CAB. One of the reason Joel Schumacher probably got it was that he had written the fil CARWASH and that was highly thought of in the black community. So, Mr. T. or his people may have been more open to his pitch for the project. Plus, Joel was one of the smartest people in the business. I almost worked with him once. Still regret I didn't.
@@CerealAtMidnight Feature film. He wanted to direct a property my business partner, at the time, and I controlled. He made an excellent pitch. And his approach was right. But we were worried his reputation at that time would make it hard for us to position the project the way we wanted to. He was great. We were being stupid. You live and learn. At least we got to have some nice chats with him.
Ah, that’s tough. Sometimes regrets like that can hang over us, but I’m sure you thought you were making the right call at the time. And maybe it had long-term effects on future business decisions you made in a positive way as a result. Thanks for sharing your experience!
@@CerealAtMidnight You make some excellent points. And, you're right, it's probably all for the best. But his passing last summer made me feel regretful. He would be a great candidate for a documentary. Because his life and career went beyond his list of films.

I like the white cover better on Zoltan.
Man of the east - I adore Terence Hill.
Audio sounding a little spotty
I commend you for using the word “bailiwick”!
Well, speaking of the Rat Pack's reaction to the psychedelic movement, it's noteworthy that Sinatra covered the Beatles multiple times and called "Something" the greatest love song of the last 50 years.
And he always credited Something to Lennon and McCartney!
And George hated that Sinatra added “Jack” to “Something,” as in “You stick around, Jack, and it will show.”
Oh, and ...
Can you say what sort of project you almost got to work on with Schumacher?
Puzzle of a Downfall Childzzzzzzzzzz...
no pickup of the wild life?
Not in this batch, and it wasn’t in the sale, but I’m all over it. Here’s my 2014 article on The Wild Life.
www.fthismovie.net/2014/03/heath-holland-on-wild-life.html?m=1
I've never seen you pick up a movie look at it and say "actually this movie sucks it just sucks" haha maybe its happened but I watched a lot of your vids.
I wouldn't just flat out say something sucks, but I would tell you why I don't like it and why I don't connect with it. I'm always honest, but I deliver bad news with as much tact as possible. Every movie is someone's favorite movie. I would say "this movie wasn't for me, but I know a lot of you guys like it." I gave a negative review to the new Ghostbusters movie, and also to The Suicide Squad.
@@CerealAtMidnight it's cool it's a good way to be .keep doing your thing.i was just thinking how funny it would be if that actually happened.
looks as if physical media was going away. you literally bought almost everything from their site lol 😂
Good grabs man ! Yeah Id forgotten bout that devils dog movie. Albert Band Charles Band Richard Band... yup a family affair. Charles band son is singer in band The Calling: If I could then I would I'll go wherever ... good stuff. Anyhow heres my humble kino haul th-cam.com/video/q2GlEzjBJoY/w-d-xo.html I had the Nick Nightmovie with Rick movie I think it was Anchor Bay, but never got to see it since I lost my movie collection.
Whoa, I had no idea the singer for The Calling was Charles Band's son! Truly a showbiz family.
@@CerealAtMidnight Yeah man some of the connections between these things that exist are surprising. I saw a video of Power Station live at Live Aid I think and Im like man that singer looks like the guy from ghoulies. Looked it up, turns out it was . He also wrote and originally recorded that song that was made famous by animotion: obsession.
Who the h*ll is this guy?! I've perused a couple of your videos, but watching this one astounded me with your breadth and depth of knowledge of movies. You're not talking popular successful movies either. You have impressive knowledge about more obscure movies from decades ago. Seriously, lots of knowledge and even dedication.
Thanks! I’ve been here doing this since 2017 (reviewing films online for far longer), and Cereal At Midnight is really starting to grow and be noticed. Glad you found the channel!
Another great video do some great releases do KL ship to the UK ? would love to own them
Karl, to my knowledge, they don't ship outside of the U.S., however, you can work around that by ordering their titles from other retailers that offer international shipping, like Amazon, Deep Discount, etc. Good luck, brother!
