I love the realistic way you at your collection ! I definitely prefer watching creators that have sustainability and responsible consumerism in mind ! However I think you shouldn't be so hard on yourself because your doing fine and your intentional even though some categories have grown ✨
Please don’t feel any shame. You are still a conscious consumer. And I appreciate all the consistent content you’ve produced over the years. Thank you for the hours of entertainment!
You needed to go through this to learn where you want to go, how you want your inventory to be. No need for shame or embarrassment. We're all learning.
I'm so impressed you only bought 6 products in 2021! I think getting PR can throw things off, since if you receive any PR then your collection will grow faster than you can pan things. As others have said, nothing to be ashamed of, just part of the process of learning and deciding what kind of consumer you are/want to be.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Your collection is well under control. Watching your inventory video last year compelled me to inventory my makeup collection. It was eye opening. I think I might have a problem with eye shadow pallets. 😬. Doing the inventory has made me more mindful so thank you for that. I really enjoy your channel.
Turning off PR is one of the bravest thing I've ever seen done in beauty channel. I know this is not what you intended to do but we all can only look forward and not look back. I'm also in the same journey to use up my products and you're an inspiration.
I love how honest you are about your collection and purchasing. You really don’t need to be ashamed that your collection hasn’t decreased. Because you try to be more of a conscious consumer and to use up your products which is something most people on YT and irl don’t really do. You did the first step and acknowledged that some categories of your collection are too large for your liking and now it’s time to work on minimising those categories. It’s no use to cry over spilled milk 😉 What you could do to use up some products is to use them in different ways, like mixing highlighter in body lotion, primer, or foundation. I did this in 2020 when I was really unhappy with the amount of highlighters I had (because I rarely wear them) and now I only own one liquid highlight.
Thank you so much for your insight and for your suggestions!! I'm enjoying using this collection while I still have all these products, but I definitely want to see some changes in the coming year!
You have a really really beautiful collection and I really also love how you see everything it’s curios and also loved. You don’t have to be ashamed. so lovely from you to share this with your community ❤️
Don’t be ashamed you have an awesome collection! I have over 400 items and I don’t receive PR. I have gotten better and I stopped buying brow gels. I want to bring it down substantially this year!
Be kind to yourself girl. I love your honesty and how you share everything with us and I would turn the negative energy into focus to work through things that are making your stash feel like its "too much." Being a conscious consumer and also being on YT is a hard balance to do. I look forward to your panning journey this year!
Since you were saying you want to finish some of your cream blushes, you could totally finish the flower beauty blush, think it took me abt 3-4 months of abt 5 days a week of use to finish up. It’s the type of product where you can apply a lot of and it blends out seamlessly! So you could defo get that out of your collection you got this!
I think that is my oldest cream blush, so you might just be right... I should just bite the bullet and give it a try! I'm feeling inspired now, thanks for the suggestion 🥰
While I'll miss seeing that monstera grow in the background, I'm so glad she's grown so big and is healthy living her best life in a new space! And now we get to see some new plant friends grow 😊Also, I think you're doing great with your collection! You have such a great mindset looking at the numbers and being mindful of your consumerism. No need to be so hard on yourself or feel ashamed of what was brought in. You're still trying to use up and love what you have, and at the end of the day thats all that matters.
I swear you get more and more beautiful every video I watch! Every time you wear a deep browny lip like this, it makes me want to buy one but our coloring is so vastly different I know I can't pull it off. I agree with all the other commenters- you shouldn't be so hard on yourself! Give yourself some grace. (side note- I wish you left the pictures of your collection on screen a little bit longer)
Awe 🥺 you are too kind!! Thank you!! And yeah... watching it back I wish I left the images up longer, especially for the bigger categories. Noted for next time 🤞
I stepped away from consuming beauty content in 2019 when all I was seeing was drama and consumerism. You’re one of the few beauty content creators I still watch because I really love your ethos and approach to your collection. Definitely inspiring me to consume less. I’m starting a project pan this year for the first time :)
Awe Jess that is so kind, thank you so much for sharing that with me! I really appreciate you being here & watching 🥰 Best of luck with your project pan this year - I'd love to hear some of the products you are focusing on!!
@@RebeccaMorgan ☺️☺️ I’m focusing on clearing out some base products that have been sitting stagnant for far too long - primers (which I’ve decided I’m going to stop using altogether now since I don’t see the value in them), and clearing out my foundation collection and sticking only to one foundation moving forward once I’ve panned my others. I’m in my 30s now and realised that I don’t want or even really need to wear foundation and after discovering Colourpop’s Pretty Fresh tinted moisturiser, I’ve learned that I much prefer how that looks on my skin on a day to day basis. I’m also trying to hit pan on every shade in my Norvina palette and an old Colourpop warm toned palette so that should keep me pretty busy!
I have a stupid amount of makeup, more than you, and I don't have a channel. I went through an exploratory phase to try all the things and find what I liked, but mostly I have used makeup as a coping mechanism. I understand that is what it is for me and I am okay with it being part of my journey. I am on a low buy because, even though I don't need any makeup, I am working on myself and my mental health this year and I know I will fail at a no-buy. For now I will enjoy my collection and all it's excess because it is a reminder to myself that I value and care about myself
Awe that is such a great mindset! You'll do amazing on your low buy I'm sure, it sounds like you are very understanding of your journey and that is amazing!!
This is so satisfying to watch and love how you broke this down. I wish I had comparison numbers the way you do so that I could see how my collection changed over the years! Also this eye look was BEAUTIFUl and now I need to recreate it
Don't be ashamed! I think your numbers are very reasonable! In the last 2 years my numbers are grown so much and not for PR but 'cause I was stressed. I'm starting today to make my inventory after months and months and I'm a little scared about the numbers... I think that accepting some PR is a good thing, you can experiment new formulas and you can always declutter products to friends, family members or women shelters (I saw recently Kristi of rawbeautykristi sending to a woman shelter packages of beauty products that she received in PR)
Love this video and to second what someone else said: love watching creators with mindful consumption but also you are doing amazing and this next year has so much potential! Specifically the massive pan on multiple highlighters will be such a fun journey to follow!! Had a question about the bare minerals base product you love: how do you apply it? Fingers, brush, sponge? What’s been the way that’s made you fall in love with that product ?
Hi Mina, thank you so much for watching!! I love the Complexion Rescue applied with my fingers or with a buffing brush. I use very little product but it spreads a lot and makes my skin look so healthy and more uniform, without ever looking heavy or too makeup-y. I just feel like it's absolutely effortless and looks seamless on my skin, and it fades over the day so naturally! I hope this helps 😆
I totally understand how you feel with the shame and nerves because I’ve been there, but you’re such a good example of someone who actively both rotates and pans their collection and who gets the use of it, so I really don’t think you should be feeling ashamed of it. I’m so out of control numbers wise that I’m ashamed of it because I know even through project panning I’m never going to get my moneys worth and that things are going to go/are going bad in my collection but I honestly look to your channel and the way you use and consume as my end goal in comparison to where I am now! I know it’s hard to truly understand when you have that shame and guilt in your own head but I honestly don’t think you need to be hard on yourself over these numbers at all xx
Awe thank you for sharing your thoughts Rose, I really appreciate it 🥰 good luck as you continue on your panning and consumption journey! I wish you all the very best as you work towards your goals too!!
For the powder highlighter dilemma, how about if you crushed a couple into a body lotion? Only if you actually like that look, naturally. I’ve done that in the past with ones that were unexpectedly glittery and as such would have gone unused otherwise.
I will totally be giving this a try come the summer 😊 I think it would be a great way to move a couple highlighters outta my life, thanks for the suggestion!
I have a very hard time with highlighter too. I know that I have so much shade duplication but when I sit down to declutter, I just can't seem to do it. They are so pretty and they make me happy to look at them.
Prior to starting a no-buy or low buy year, they recommend doing an inventory like you have. I realized that I couldn't do it because it was too overwhelming. I decluttered 2 huge boxes to give away to my friend's girls, but it didn't seem to make a noticeable impact. I totally understand what you said about feeling ashamed. 2021 was a rough year so let's hope 2022 is more gentle on us.
It's okay to do an inventory when you feel ready, or never if that's not your journey!! Here's to hoping for the absolute best in 2022 🥳 Happy New Year!!
I think you need to cut yourself a break. You are on You Tube. When your channel grows, PR comes with it. PR is an accomplishment and part of your job. Yes, it has to be managed and you will do it. The expiration dates are a good guide, but generally I only really consider them for liquid or cream formulations. And even still, if the product hasn’t changed in terms of texture, smell or application then I will continue to use it past it’s suggested shelf life. I am really starting to gravitate more and more to minis to ensure things can get well loved as well!
Hey Stephany!! I can't find these exact earrings anymore, my sister gave them to me as a gift a few years back. They are from www.frug.ca/earrings which is always launching new, unique styles :)
Have you swatched your highlighters next to each other. Perhaps, you have more duplicates in your collection than you realize. I bet you can declutter rather easily. I do that with blush, too.
I’m wondering PR is sending you with no message ? I think they are trying to get you use their products for it . Most likely beauty TH-camrs are for the reason free makeup . That’s their happiness . I guess . And you can use it and share the thoughts during project pan . I’d love to know about the projects . I love makeup and try to do more use up my makeup ! Happy new year 🥳
I have to say the amount of shame you express in this video is really disheartening. Your numbers are nothing compared to mine! It's clear you work very hard on working through your collection, so I don't understand why you feel so embarrassed? You're doing amazing!
Awe why thank you! My collection is definitely larger than I would like it to be, but that is my own personal opinion for my own personal collection! It's not meant to dishearten or shame anyone for having more than me!
It is discouraging to me to see you, or any beauty content creator for that matter, be ashamed of the amount of PR that is given. That should be seen as a blessing because not everyone is fortunate enough to be in a position like that. The only time anyone should be concerned about their collection is when it goes up by their own doing & in response encourage themselves to spend less & I can see you trying to do just that. Intentional Consumerism is a life long process that you have to consistantly monitor. But never be ashamed of the opportunities given to you through PR & if anyone tells you otherwise, they are most likely jealous of what you've been given because they wish they had what you do & they don't serve a purpose in your life. Focus on the people and things that lift you up, not what or who brings you down.
Hey Tara, just curious why it is discouraging? It is a blessing, and I have spoken about this feeling before. I do agree, I am in a fortunate position, but it doesn't necessarily align with the type of consumer I want to be and can negatively affect me as it can feel like a large weight (the responsibility of the waste, the implied requirements of posting & more) This is not my job and this is not an opinion of any outside source either. It may not be my mindset for forever, but it's where I'm at in my mind & life right now. I just feel differently than some others may if they found myself in such a fortunate position. I hope you can understand 😊
@@RebeccaMorgan it just breaks my heart to hear someone feeling shame over something like the size of their makeup collection. Being aware of the size of your makeup collection shouldn't evoke shame. Most of your collection either stayed the same or did decrease in size. That is what you should focus on when reflecting on your collection as a whole. Any categories that went up are just a work in progress area & that is not anything to be ashamed of. None of us are perfect. We all have something that we need to work on. Regardless of your feelings torward your collection size though, thank you for the pin! ❤
Products only start going bad as their expiry starts when you open it...and so I think with products like mascara even if you have 5, don't open one until you finish the other.
No need to be ashamed. I have more makeup than you do. It's hard to resist getting new things. I've also noticed during covid my usage of products has gone down.
It makes me a bit sad how much shame you are attaching to your collection. Anything worth doing is worth half doing, and I think you did so good through your no buy. I’m currently starting one myself, and I hope future me gives myself some of the grace I’m hoping you give yourself now. I think you did amazing.
I love the realistic way you at your collection ! I definitely prefer watching creators that have sustainability and responsible consumerism in mind ! However I think you shouldn't be so hard on yourself because your doing fine and your intentional even though some categories have grown ✨

If I have 5 mascaras I open all of them 🙈 I have no chill lol
No need to be ashamed. I have more makeup than you do. It's hard to resist getting new things. I've also noticed during covid my usage of products has gone down.
This is so true, I've definitely noticed my usage has decreased with everything going on! 😭
It makes me a bit sad how much shame you are attaching to your collection. Anything worth doing is worth half doing, and I think you did so good through your no buy. I’m currently starting one myself, and I hope future me gives myself some of the grace I’m hoping you give yourself now. I think you did amazing.
