Our German Shepherd also had epilepsy when he was 9 yrs. He did fine on medication for a while maybe a yr. After a year we had to double up on medication then it just stopped working. He had 18 seizures in one day. We couldn't go to work and leave him alone. Unfortunately we had to put him down. I never saw my husband cry so hard. It was a very emotional day for the whole family.
I am so sorry you had to go through that! Sounds like you did what was best for him. I used to have seizures and while I felt no discomfort during them, afterward I would feel so tired, sometimes nauseous and cold afterward. Luckily as I grew up the seizures stopped. My condolences. It's so hard to lose a pet.
putting your canine down is quite possibly the worst experience a person can go through. we've had to do it twice over the years and we cannot talk about it without an emotional jolt.
Me, if I were Zeus: "F (rhymes with duck) Duck." LOL I find the noise poor Duck makes kind of scary. If I were a cat or dog I think it would freak me out.
Mine howls like a woof when he hears sirens. I also swear he is going to talk any day when he looks out the window and sees our neighbors walk up and down the sidewalk. I keep telling him, Murphy, choose your words. 😊
King Shepherd is an upscale GSD bred with a softer temperament and it shows. These big dogs are fur babies, the perfect family pet around small children. Very gentle and well behaved! 😊
Gorgeous dog - and I know the point is the groom, but seeing a dog-shape in fur on the wall makes me think of how much time it must take to clean that room and I almost want to cry on your behalf! Thanks for the video!
Have to wonder if theres possibly an environmental trigger for the epilepsy, like certain lawn chemicals, or flowers or mushrooms. I'm sure the owners have investigated, this is just me wondering. So good to see Zeus again, and that was an amazing furnado! 🥰
It does make sense - two unrelated dogs, acquiring epilepsy? It does seem like there's an external cause. The food they feed the dogs, or something in the house or yard.
That was the first thing I was thinking. In the Netherlands we have a large population that are farmers or daughters of farmers that work especially in the flowerbulb industry that get for example parkinsons. It is related to the pesticides that are used. Being a dog you will probably need a lot less pesticides to develop something
Gosh, it is frustrating and heartbreaking when you can't get a dog/any animal to calm down. 💔 It's times like these that I wish we could speak to dogs telepathically or something in order to be successful at easing their mind. He is absolutely gorgeous, and has wonderful, loving owners. I'm very happy for him! Great work, Vanessa! 🤗❤️🥰
I have every sympathy for his owners. I had a pedigree German Shepherd who had epilepsy. I saw a specialist vet who was able to tell me the name of the dog way back in his line who was the source with even seeing his pedigree documentation. Every one of his progeny had epilepsy as a result of poor breeding methods. My dog died young as a result of the epilepsy and he also changed his character. He was a lovely dog and it was heartbreaking to see him having seizures and finally losing him.
Gorgeous boy. So sorry he has been struggling with epilepsy but I’m glad that he’s been controlled finally on meds. It can be tricky. Considering all, he did well. ❤❤❤
Vanessa's ShopVac gets one h-e-double-hockey-sticks of a workout when Zeus is in for grooming!!!😱😱😁😁 It probably takes her longer to clean the shop than it does to groom Zeus!!!
My brother had a beautiful Siberian Husky who had epilepsy. His epilepsy was controlled with medication. One day while my brother was out a man cut the lock on the fence and took the dog. Three days later the man the man knocked on my brothers door and gave the dog back saying there was something wrong with the dog and he couldn't handle him! It's a crazy world we live in.
I was never anxious before I suddenly got epilepsy at 30 years old. Not sure if there’s a general stress response happening due to signals in the brain, but I could not stop panicking as soon as anything out of the ordinary happened. It took both anti-seizure meds and benzos to sort that out.
Bless his heart ..it turned out well and he looks so much better. Your voice with him was very soothing and it obviously helped him get through it all. Well done ! ❤️❤️
God knew who to place him with to take care of him. He's beautiful. Thank you, dear, for taking care of the animals & being patient with them. Poor fellow, bless the family. My son has epilepsy.
I Have had several Shepherds, he is a good boy! Mine would get bathed and soaped up in the backyard, and then the garden hose, and towel dry, we didn't have money for a groomer, it was a funny site three of us holding the big shepherd! Zeus is a beauty!😅
I wouldn't say strange, I would say terribly tragic. He is a beautiful puppy. You absolutely amazing me how these protection breeds just love you, you give it straight, and they all just love you. Watching the before and afters is nice, but your interaction with these amazing creatures can brighten almost any day. Thanks for the cheap therapy. Wishing you and yours only the best of all.
I can really! Relate to that because I was diagnosed with a seizure disorder when I was 5 years old and also when I was diagnosed with a seizure disorder when I was 5 years old my mom had no idea what a seizure was at all so she was very scared and I was very scared as well
1:09 Actually, most dog breeds that originated from the past hundred years are inbred, which makes German/King Shepherds (unfortunately) related to one another. Not so strange when distant cousins share the same degenerative condition; King Shepherds originated in the 1990s, after all. The first King Shepherds probably lived long, full lives, but once breeders started with the inbreeding to maintain their "pure" bloodlines, yikes.
In my experience as a vet tech in the distant past, the majority of our patients with seizures were GSDs pure bred or mixed, long or short haired. No matter the breed, seizures are tough to watch & can be difficult to get under control. So glad Zeus is under control with medication now. 🖖🏼✌🏼🤟🏼
Maybe he's traumatized from all the medical procedures and vet visits. He needs to remember that grooming means less itchy skin and a lighter fur load.
"zeus has a lot of anxiety, he does not like leaving his house" same, zeus
I felt that deeply
Same 😂
I also relate to, "He does not like me touching his bum."
Bless your heart, Ruth, bless your husband's soul. He cried for a beloved family member.
Oh hugs, this made me cry.

"This is Duck. Make friends with Duck".
Why is this so cute
Gave me Shpilkes!
and then Duck throws up on his face. poor Zeus

GSD don’t sing with the song of their people, but they do recite the relevant parts of the Geneva Convention.
lol, that sounds about right

What a blessing for Zeus to be adopted to a family that knows how to recognize & handle his health issues he developed.
"This is Duck. Make friends with Duck!" **lick** 🤣🥰
That was Giggle-licious!

That was perfect 😂

Zeus is gorgeous. I think I saw a couple of Chihuahuas come flying out during his blow dry...

"Oh, yes! That spot!" when Vanessa blowed his chest. Love this! ❤
this poor baby. It's good to see him doing better!! ❤😊
I think it’s funny how he sits so still yet he’s so vocal.😊
Zeus was whiny with the dryer until it hit his itchy spots!
What a big baby!
Goodest boy
Poor sweet he was very unsettled. Bless him for being such a good boy.
You just cant help to want to give him a big hug. Poor baby.

Possible, but I think it's more likely genetic. Two dogs of the same breed are "related" even if they're not family.
Me too. My first thought.
Probably had local breeders with the same genetics.
Zeus! My dude! YOU are a big, beautiful, 4-legged, tongue lolling furnado! He's so beautiful when he's been groomed! ❤❤❤❤

One of my favorite breeds. Beautiful Zeus!
Zeus is fortunate to have parents that didn't turn him into a shelter due to his medical issues.

He has to be one of the most beautiful King Shepherds I’ve ever seen!
The auto-generated captions call his whining [Music] 😂
They're the right owners for Zeus! They know how to support him. ❤️
The King of Furnado returns! Hooray!
This guy is absolutely beautiful! I’m always amazed at the amount of fur that blows out!❤❤❤
It was fate that Zues was adopted by the perfect family.
"I'm going deaf" perfect parenting.
He's a gorgeous boy x glad he's better
Gorgeous boy. So sorry he has been struggling with epilepsy but I’m glad that he’s been controlled finally on meds. It can be tricky. Considering all, he did well. ❤❤❤
What a beautiful "after" and bet he felt better losing at that floof! Glad the meds are working on this handsome guy.
Zeus must feel a lot better with all that lose itchy fluff removed. He's such a good boy.😊
Hey Zeus, “This is Duck, Make friends with Duck!”😂❤😂Big Job for a Big Boy, done really well! ❤❤❤
Aww, big beautiful fluffy Zeus! Many many cuddles, lovely boy.
Poor buba! Thank you for helping him
Well that turned into Zeus-ical The Musical
As with any Shepherd you could brush for weeks, and the hair would just keep coming. He looks beautiful.
Doggos are so awesome … so many humans have changes when on meds or gets sick, dogs just don’t fake it until they make it! What a beautiful Zeus!,
Zeus is such a beauty. Hugs to you and the pack. 💙🌻💙
such a beautiful good boy!
He's BEAUTIFUL.
Zeus: "My stern? Leave the Klingons alone! Do NOT engage the Klingons! Repeat, do NOT engage!!!"

I remember him. Such a handsome dog. Very sad he has epilepsy. What wonderful owners to take such good care of him.

Did he hit the guy for taking his husky in the first place? What an entitled a-hole.
No matter how majestic you look, Zeus, you're always your owners' baby 👶🚼🤗😘🥰

Disappeared in a mound of fur😂,
He is a shepherd. He must scream.
EDIT: I have to watch this later. My shepherd heard him and won't stop screaming until his does. 😂
He's a big ducky baby. I love him.
Getting closer to 1M subscribers! Can't wait. Cheers from Edmonton.

I'm the same as Zeus, don't like to leave my house and when I do I normally end up screaming too......

Poor fellow, bless the family. My son has epilepsy.
Does anyone else want a Duck for their own shower? Just me?
The owners should check if there are any environmental factors that may be causing the seizures. Especially on a farm, there are a lot of chemicals.
I Have had several Shepherds, he is a good boy! Mine would get bathed and soaped up in the backyard, and then the garden hose, and towel dry, we didn't have money for a groomer, it was a funny site three of us holding the big shepherd! Zeus is a beauty!😅
