    Hi skraggie
    Thanks for a wonderful selection of cab ride videos. This particular video and the others you have uploaded are absolutely outstanding (probably some of the the best on TH-cam) and I'll tell you why.
    A securely mounted camera on the driver's side of the cab with very little wobble or vibration.
    The lighting, with an overcast sky, is good with no glare, shadow or reflection.
    A clean windscreen.
    No or very little bug splatter.
    Excellent audio including on-train announcements.
    Once again thanks for some great videos and I hope you intend to upload more.

      These units do 110mph when on the fast line, they were originally 100mph, but there was project 110, which increased their speed to 100mph, they are Siemens Desiro 350, originally only some of them could 110mph but I think they all can do 110mph now.

      @@cambsy37 correct all mark 1 & 3/4’s could do 110 from the get go, all our mark 2’s have had their pantographs updated so can all do 110.

    I got to the Red on the Euston Approaches then my time ran out on the Exercycle at the Gym. Curse those pesky Signallers! I could have made it Right Time into the platform 😏😉

    • @skraggie
      @skraggie  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is a habit the driver has of resetting the vigilance at every signal. due to driving units that for a while the vigilance did not always sound but still applied the brakes

      Not a Light house, a water tower for the troughs that used to replenish steam trains going north, back in the day. The troughs were laid in the 4 foot and a scoop was lowered from the loco to gather up water.

      Scrap steel; UK railways are littered with the stuff and whoever is running the show apparently has no interest in sending crews out to collect the rail for recycling.

    The flyover at Bletchley is gone now. Replaced with an ugly box. Strange how only 2 tracks go to Northampton not all 4. I guess the other 2 go to brom?? I bet it's a pain driving the stopper as all those stations between London and Bletchley lol.

    • @Russell_G
      @Russell_G 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The original railway was 2 lines only and totally bypassed Northampton, which just a wee collection of villages in the 1840's. The line was 4 tracked and the 'new line' to Northampton added in the 1880's. The new and old lines join up again just South of Rugby.

    • @g8ktx
      @g8ktx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      London Overground Euston-Watford service. Between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queens Park it runs over the Bakerloo line tracks.

    • @TheRip72
      @TheRip72 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Euston-Watford lines were built in 1914-1921 & for many years known as the 'new lines'. They were always electrified so the lack of headroom required to clear steam & smoke allowed the tunnels to be built with a small bore. They were later shared with LT's Bakerloo line.

    Yes. The journey on this line really is that dull. This is of course no criticism to the excellent quality of this vid though.
    BTW, at 52:00, is that the Chiltern Main Line crossing over your line or is that a little further back?

    • @TheRip72
      @TheRip72 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have to disagree with you about this journey being dull. Most cab rides played back at standard speed seem this way. This line is busier with activity & things to see than most. 52.00 is the Chiltern line. It passes over the WCML at an angle. Due to the way that the northbound WCML is actually heading slightly south at this point, the end over the fast lines which is further away from the tunnels is actually heading towards London.

    • @russouk

    • @russouk
      @russouk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      with black dash in?...they are repeater signs...repeats the signal ahead if its obscured....if round corner for example...and they are either on or off......ahhh the square ones are Sighting Distance Device for signals they are used when placing signals to see from a distance if place for the signal is suitable\visible etc

    • @Russell_G
      @Russell_G 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kriswarren2469 They were 1/4 mile markers, used so trackworkers could visualise how much sighting distance they had, they needed enough sighting to allow all staff to get off track and be in a place of safety well before a train passed, used in the days when staff could be on track at the same time as trains....not so much now.

    I though that the class 350/1s and class 350/2s are limited to 100mph?

    • @skraggie

    • @skraggie

    • @joelharris1335

      I would have thought so because of the 125mph Pendelinos and Voyagers would get held up by the slower 75 & 90mph class 86 and class 90/92 electric locomotives would cause conflicts which would make the trains late.
