The movie is during the time of Tribulation. Which is a 7 year period after the rapture, a time of suffering. I think the baby being born is the Antichrist. Which then transitions into Armageddon and then finally the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Was looking for this comment. Also, those left behind get another chance to make it into heaven.

Is this a Purgatory? As I learned it, Purgatory shapes itself to its occupants. However, in Islam and Candomblé , Azrael is the Archangel of Death.
Islam is also a death cult started by a child molester. So, I’m not sure it is a valuable resource.

She was SO GOOD in Ready or Not
She already was..way before Mia Goth was on anybody's radar. Just one performance and (like Shelly Duval), she is who I think of when I think of modern scream queens. Mia hasn't even truly earned her laurels yet. Her acting suits the echelon of low budget 80s horror (forgettable) scream queens.

Is Samarah Weaving's character part cyborg, perhaps? She endured SO MANY entanglements that no human could possibly endure!! The cut leg, the barbed wire to the leg, the head-on collision into a brick wall, numerous body hits with guns, numerous body hits with sticks, buried in a coffin, beaten by a pregnant demon, etc.,etc. I was like, "You go gurrrrrl!!" 😳🎉
Imagine my surprise when I saw this today, completely blind (never read a synopsis) and was like: "Why is no one talking?!?" 🙊😮🎉 It definitely threw me for about 10 minutes, then I accepted it!! 😅
I always try to predict what Nick thinks of a film by how he says the film title at the top.
Every time I see the name Azrael, I think of Gargamel from the Smurfs (his cat is called Azrael). 😅

This movie I saw tonight. I enjoyed it. It wasn’t cheesy and it goes fast. Gory enough to keep you interested and action was decent

If this is supposed to be purgatory, the creatures are either from hell or undead. Azrael looks to be an agent for the devil since the movie hints that she has supernatural powers. Did anyone else notice they kept cutting to the wind blowing the trees whenever it looked like danger would befall her? And if these creatures are undead or reincarnated, then that would explain why the pregnant woman gives birth to what looks like a demon baby after Azrael slices her stomach. I assumed the creatures were underground because this religious cult would bury their members alive. I totally expected her boyfriend to return as a creature at the end.
I could be totally off base here but the movie is really vague so whose to say what it means? Is Azrael a victim of a religious cult or is she the spawn of Satan? Can't say I cared much by the end.
They had such a limited screening of this movie! I’m glad I caught it, the tension wouldn’t be the same in a living room!
My mind kept wandering as I tried watching this. I couldn't get into it at all. My audience reacted to the gore but nothing else and were left mostly befuddled when the end credits rolled. A film so pretentious that you'll be forced to decipher cave drawings just so you can make up a logical story to what you see happening on screen. Although short, it felt much longer. Hard pass from me.

The Bible doesn't reference the Rapture directly, there are a few parts that have been interpreted to mean Rapture, but there's never a direct time frame given which is why there are Pre Trib, Mid Trib, and Post Trib believers.

I came away wondering if like the baby was a demon baby because the cult failed to kill Samara. Like what if they were the “good guys” the whole time, and Samara is like the angel of death and they needed to sacrifice her before the pregnant lady gave birth
But even in religious text Azrael is a good guy .The angel of death is an archangel. Archangels work for god. Azrael's job was to transport souls to the afterlife after they died.

Not to get too technical, but it would be more like they were judged unworthy and left behind in the rapture. Hence abandoning the "sin" of speech. I would have said they were a cult centered on penance, but the demons are confusing me. Lol.
My theory about the crispy demons is that they’re the bodies of the people who were raptured. Since they don’t have a soul but didn’t die, they became monsters that prey upon those left behind

Sounds like The VVitch, Wickerman and The Ritual type where it's very secluded and gives no real time for casual drama.
