"An Ogre and His Cake" reminds me a lot of Monte Cook's "The Orc and The Pie" adventure, which is the world's shortest (yet technically complete) RPG adventure.
Crows are my favourite dinosaurs! Seeing as the birds are the dinosaurs that survived the apocalypse. They're clever, remember you, and are mimics. Thank you for this, it was very helpful.
I just ran Shadow of the Dusk Queen for a group today on your recommendation. Thank you! We had a great time, though i do think it was a little long for a one-shot. I'm running it again for a different group in a few weeks, and I'm considering reducing the number of items that need to be collected by removing the location that took my players the longest. We'll be playing through Shore of Dreams next month, and I'm excited. Thanks for all of the great info!
It took my DM 6... SIX! sessions to get us through Shadow of the Dusk Queen (we spent 2 hours of real time trying to become "un-lost" on some forest paths). We didn't even know how or where to put the mirror back together, we just knew we had shards and we knew where the Dusk Queen was. The DM left out the encounter with the shadow dragon but we still got TPK'd during the final battle. I'm guessing we were TPK'd because though there were 7 of us, we were 4th level and it's designed for a party of 8th level PCs. Just because an adventure sounds and looks cool doesn't mean you should run it with your party. Know your players. Don't keep your secrets.
I’ve been running one shots only for the last year and a half. Your videos have brought me to some amazing writers and great adventures! Attack on Hellmaw Island is by far my favorite. There isn’t a real “Baddie” but more the island itself. The group is always in constant peril. It’s a bummer you don’t like horror much because The Haunt trilogy is great (Happy Jacks is one of the best horror ones). It Fell From the Sky is a really fun adventure if you want a flash of Sci-Fi. Thanks for the video. You’ve given me more fuel!
Shore of Dreams is alot of fun...and I will be checking out the fun house one. Love me a good horror adventure. As for my favorite dinosaur i suppose it would have to be a dead dinosaur
I really need to get a copy of Prepared! Also I appreciate the Ogre and his Cake shout out. I run a club at my son's school, which right now is only for 6th (11/12 year olds) grade and up, but it would be fun to do something for the younger kids that may be interested in role playing.
The best one shot I ran was called 'the bell must toll tonight' which was set in a mix between regular fantasy and steampunk with a halloween vibe. I wrote scene descriptions in poetry mimicking michael jackson's thriller
Thanks so much for this. My DM wants to focus a bit more on his work, so in a few sessions our campaign will end. So I'm thinking of DMing for the group so he can just relax and play, but dreading a big campaign at first. These one shots / short adventures would be great to see whether I'd enjoy DMing our group! Ow, and a Lickalottapuss, of course.
One of my absolute favorites is Murder at Sable Mansion from Adventures from the Potbellied Kobold closely followed by Hollow from Tales of the old Margreve.
I love the grey wagtail. OK maybe it is not a true dinosaur but it is descended from them as all birds are. The grey wagtail is a pretty delicate bird that is full of life and has come to symbolise for me my recovery from the hungry jaws of depression.
Have you ever checked out modules by The Arcane Library? I really loved her module Secret of Skyhorne Lighthouse. She also does some great horror one shots like Masque of Worms. Check it out. Also my fav dino is a triceratops!!
Whats the easiest one to run for complete newbies and a new DM with player experience? Im looking to run a short one for my family at christmas this year 😂
Firstly, amazing! If you want an easy to understand story with a plottwist, that is self contained enough to run for anybody: Shore of Dreams for sure. The prepared series is also a good option for this but most encounters are nothing more than an interesting encounter to put in a longer campaign.
@@MrTarrasquehey man just wanted to come back and say I ran the Prepared 1+2 encounters based on Dibb for my parents, then I made a mini 1 Shot involving a haunted forest with a green hag for my family, they loved it! This week I ran Shore of Dreams for some friends online over discord, I added some extra minigames in the pub like gambling and arm wrestling. It was an amazing one shot, absolutely great recommendation! It did take my group 2 sessions which was about 7-8 hours total, but they were all new players so I was teaching them as we went through! Thanks again!
Help me reach 10.000 subscribers in 2023! If you like my content, that is.
If you haven't already, you should really check out Wild Sheep Chase.
ive ran that one 6-7 times already, always awesome crazy fun sessions
That’s the one Jaiden did, right? The name sure fits with what went on in the video
@@blazingshadows7307 they just did the hook, the DM made it homebrew after the first encounter

I love one shots. Always nice to drop in a campaign when creative well is running a bit dry.
👆 this!

Oh cool! Yeah it’s more like a two or three session thing. Shore of Dreams should be doable in one tho

That’s a shame.

I like telling horror! I am very good and playing the creepy bad guy. But I don't like being ont he other end

Dead dinosaurs are good dinosaurs
Parasaurolophus. I love the KP one shots. The Lairs one shots are super dope too
I see that you were mentioned by Monte Cook Games on Blue SKy today (and a few times in the past!

This is perfect for that!
Thanks for sharing! I'm new to GMing and One-shots seem a lot less scary that diving into full campaigns 😅
Pterodactyl... I'd love to get the group together for the happy jacks fun house Thanks for all the recommendations
My pleasure!

That's what I'm here for! Exactly the kind of situation I set out to make this video for. Also, the Lickalottapuss is insane.

Googling grey wagtail now 😅, I hope you recover well from your depression my friend

Spinosaurus
Stegosaurus

@Fuzzatron3000 oh! So cool to wake up to this comment! Thanks so much!
HHow about a list of best Pathfinder / Starrfinder one shots!?
I don't own, or play pathfinder.....yet
Cool
I like the sound of the ogre one
I knew there where going to be people who appreciated that
The one that flies that I can't spell
Triceratops!
Stegosaurous
Ankylosaurus
T-Rex Always :)
Ankylosaurus is the best dino
Facts
2-4 sessions are not oneshots 😂😂
I feel like it’s one of those things where you get a group of people for a one shot and then with some role play it just turns into a few 😂
Which one of these was that long?
T-Rex
Classic
