Ekusu is literally the embodiment of Beyblade itself. It's meant to be A Game so he treats it like that. A battle of wits and strength. It's just that simple because at the end of the day you can't divide fun down any further. Ekusu knows this which is why everything he does is just for the sake of fun. He has both natural talent and has put in hard work to improve himself. No matter who you are he'll battle you. Beginner or Pro. It's not the fact that he wins it's the fact that he doesn't play to win or not to win he just plays and that's what makes Ekusu/Kamen X UNDEFEATABLE.
Ekusu reminds me of Yu from Metal series and Brooklyn from OG series to an extent. But I find his character too idealistic as we are yet to explore his vulnerable side (all previous protagonists had one). I can't imagine what will happen if Ekusu becomes evil.
I don’t understand why a Beyblade character needs to be “evil” to show their vulnerable side? It just feels out of character for a funny and light-hearted protagonist like Ekusu. If anything, I could see the possibility of the writers treating Ekusu like Gojo in terms of going through a similar journey as that character.
@@MrRed-le4ekit's just a speculation. But everyone has to have a vulnerable side, something which happened in their past that might have made Ekusu the way he is now. That doesn't have to be evil.
I actually started watching this show a while ago. I think it’s solid. Multi is the best character imo. And I appreciate the new insight on Blader X. I always saw him as similar to Nemona: he’s always so keen to battle and can be seen as a bit forward. But he’s also starting from square one like Nemona to battle someone that they deem would give them a good fight. It’s a really interesting perspective for a protagonist because usually we see them as beginners when they decide they wanna climb the top. But here it’s the opposite: it’s X’s choice to go back to the beginning and I find that interesting. My only issue is the fact he prevents progress for the actual protagonist Robin Kazami. Since the show continues to have Multi and X do all the heavy lifting and don’t want to undermine them, Robin keeps on getting the short end of the stick which is really annoying. He’s the main character and works the hardest of the 3! He deserves to be rewarded for the fruits of his labour and the show just refuses to give that to him!
I kinda agree. I feel like Bird should've been the protagonist. He's gotten more insight and development than Ekusu. There were moments where he should've won but because of the writers, he just doesn't. I really hope that changes in the next season.
@@Chilled_Blue Yeah I hope so too. I’m at Episode 25 now and Robin has been given nothing. It’s tragic really. And not even Multi being an actually great female blader fixes my issues with the show. So besides Ekusu, who’s your fav character?
@@WinterBlizzard689 between Bird and Multi. She in my opinion is the best female blader we have seen and Bird is amazing cause he's the most relatable and honeslty is the heart of the team.
@@Chilled_Blue That is valid. What Bird lacks in the traditional progress that a protagonist should have, he does make up for in having a good heart and solid dynamics. Plus, some of the comedy with him is decent. I just prefer there to be SOME wins on top of SOME losses so it feels like I’m not wasting too much time with Robin. And yes, Multi is the best female blader across every single series. She got a lot more screen time than Pri and Ilya from Burst who got introduced very late, she’s a lot more versatile than Pri and is honestly the most emotionally mature member of Team Persona. The only time I saw her be immature was when she lost to Jaxon/Ekusu in Episode 3.
@@Chilled_Blue But you know: I think you’re the first person besides me who doesn’t dislike Robin Kazami. Everyone else seems to dislike him for the reasons I have my issues with him. So who knows, maybe you could shine a light on him to balance out some of the slander?
Yeah but I still feel like Bird should've been a protagonist. I can't really blame the people for thinking he is because both Manga and Anime put more focus and development onto him.
At first it might be impossible, but now he lost his interest to beyblade since he had his best battle with chrome, he might be done with it instead of losing.😢
Beyblade X is the first time I was more focused on the real life product than the anime so I know very little of it, most of my knowledge comes from TH-cam videos on how Bird always loses and from there I thought he was the protagonist and for the first time protagonist of Beyblade generation isn't a boy in blue with an attack type beyblade so I was a little confused with the thumbnail calling Kamen X the protagonist until I looked it up and realized that he is the main protagonist not Bird who is the deuteragonist which makes sense because his beyblade is the one positioned with the previous protagonists beyblades. It makes sense if they're all protagonist's beyblades, I just thought they were the most popular beyblades from each generation.
@@Chilled_Blue I remembered them so I specified the first time protagonist of each generation and Valt is the first protag of the Burst gen and he matches description of being blue with an attack type Beyblade. I also think Dante fits that description as well, I feel you can go either yellow or blue with him, correct me if I'm wrong isn't his resonance aura with Dragon blue, if it is then I think he would count.
@@richardmorgan3665 Yeah, first gen protagonists is blue, you're right. At first I think Dante was gonna be Rainbow but no, I think it's just both blue and yellow together.
This is just my opinion but i really do like beyblade x. I feel like robin and ekusu are essential Co-protagonists. In the past we have seen a lot beyblade shows that talk about fun and winning as you said. But for some reason, it seemed as if there was more of an emphasis on winning than fun. It sort of made it feel like beyblade was a “you have to be a 1 in 1000 winner” sort of thing. But in beyblade x ekusu portrays the winning aspect while robin portrays the losing aspect. I find this rather interesting to behold cause if you think about it, it focuses on the different paths that are apparent. Ekusu is genius unrivaled, yes his wins are so great and amazing but after a certain point it becomes boring which was what he faced. Which is why he restarted from the bottom. Robin lost every single match and no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t win. Partly because he isn’t talented but also because he’s fighting professionals. Having a winner’s mindset gets old and degrading fast. Its one thing to want to improve but another to be better than someone. Robin realizes that at its core he can’t improve himself if he doesn’t enjoy it. As the saying goes success comes from a stem of failures. All one can do is go at their own pace and gain success from one of the millions of things they have done. I find it rather lovable to see. Yeah the battles aren’t flashing, i should know as i grew up with metal fight. But there was a greater focus on the characters themselves. There wasn’t a particular main character just individuals facing their own problems which made beyblade seem more grounded and fun. Which is the main aspect everyone joined in for. All the previous beyblade shows never showed a failure. Someone who decided to walk away or come close to walk away. Even in beyblade burst, while there were losses there were never anyone who gave up in the championship or anything like that. But in beyblade x the own of mont blanc nearly did and it really showed that if you ain’t gonna enjoy when you win. Then you ain’t gonna continue when when you lose which was almost the case by the end. Really brings out the reality of it.
Please do a video essay of Chrome Ryugu. He’s starting to become my favorite antagonist in the series, not because of his unhinged upbringing (well it’s part of it) but how he tries to cope when he thinks that he lost Ekusu from Kamen X. He’s not even a traditional Beyblade antagonist that we’ve seen before. I would like to see more video essays on Beyblade in general so keep it up!
We got into blading recently and my daughter and I started X and man we both love Jaxon she just loves team persona to where anytime she sees one of their blades it’s a must have for her 😂
Personally speaking, Bird is the true protagonist of the series, we start the series off with bird, we are watching in his perspective, a presepective that idolizes Eksu, that looks up to him, that's why we see eksu getting the main character attention, but in birds eyes X is the main character, but spoiler Alert it all was bird, in chapter 15 we end in Bird being the one to close of the first Arc, not Ex, Bird was the last Battle, bird was the one with the most character development, ex never got a single character development, we only seen x grow in power but he has always stayed the same as a character x never learned to battle purely for fun, or to not hyper fixate on winning, it was all Bird, bird was the one to learn to not hyper fixate on winning, he was the one to learn to have fun and relax, he was the one who learnt from X and tried ti imitate him
Thank you! For the rest of the videos I make, I want to include more scripture and include my faith and possibly get others to think about this in some way. But for videos like these ones, I'll definitely include scripture.
What happens with beyblade X is the same as with kakegurui where the one who was the protagonist narratively in reality was not (suzui) that would have the role of bird and X that does not seem the protagonist in reality is, it has been said that they are the 3, but since beyblade X was announced it had been said that dransword was used by the mc, so it was never bird from the beginning and today X is still referred to as the only mc in official media. Do people really think that they are going to put x as their mascot and next to the other mc just because he is the most popular without being the mc? Really? Nice video
@@Oliver-uw8rv I think in this case it is more in Beyblade, the mascot of each generation has always been its protagonist, (in metal although there is zero, gingka is the first and the one who represents the gen, the same happens with burst valt was the first protagonist that is why he is the mascot) and here you could say that it is the same
HELL YEAH THE GOAT OF BEYBLADE X btw if we get a world tournament in season 2 this is what i think is gonna be the semifinals: kamen x vs chrome and bird vs tenka
I wish Bird beat Shieru in the final episode of season 1 and that Persona beat Pendragon. Cool thing that Ekusu beat Khrome at least. Genuinely convinced that Khrome is a psycho.
I would'nt say X is the protag thats robin/bird's role i would list him more as a supporting protag kinda like multi but i do see why you say that he is a protag hasbro lists him as a protag for X and Kamen wins unlike bird anyway besides me conplaining great video really good
DUDE, awesome video! Kurosu ekusu grew in my eyes a bit cus of this video lol. BUT can u plsssssssssssssssss tell me the name of that music from outro, i like it
Sorry, I'm gonna have to chimp in and rant a bit, since I think TT is misleading everyone, including you, about Ekusu being the protagonist, especially with the upcoming anniversary set already the biggest misleading within the Bird VS Ekusu protagonist debate, and completely ignored Multi. As for my rant, Team Persona is the protagonist of X, not Ekusu alone, and neither is Bird, no but, no deuteragonist, no tritagonist, only team, the whole point of X is team focus, if Team Persona isn't the main focus, there would be no reason for the writers to do the whole team format hassle to make Bird look bad, and Ekusu could go solo like Multi at the start of the show, even outside of the battle format, the writers put a lot of care for both Bird and Multi more than X by giving them a lot more screen time and story for their development because they know Ekusu already got the gimmick that he's an unbeatable genius, everyone obsessed over him, and there no story for him as he remains a static character because they know Ekusu would take all the attention at this point if he get all the part of the story, and it was intentional, X at the end of the day is a story of a team climbing the top of the tower not a person climbing it alone.
I mean, if Team Persona is the protagonist of Beyblade X then the title and me calling Ekusu the protagonist isn't wrong. Now look, originally I written the script to say 13 protagonists which include Bird and Multi because I considered them protagonists. Still kinda do. But I decided to change it because people mentioned in my last beyblade videos that Bird isn't a protagonist or vise versa and so when I looked up online, most pointed towards Ekusu being the main character while I think the anime and manga contradict that. Regardless, more -and-so, Ekusu is the one who mainly drives the story forward and is mostly the main reason why the story of Beyblade X even began so that's why I changed up the script and excluded Multi and Bird.
Saying ekusu is the protagonist of of beyblade X is like saying Godzilla is the protagonist of his movies. To me it's it's more like the main plot happens around him and revolves around him. Despite what the wiki says about Bird being a deuteragonist, I think he is the main character.
"... the main plot happens around him and revolves around him." You just described someone who is a protagonist. Ekusu is the main reason why the story of Beyblade X begins and moves forward. If Bird is a deuteragonist then he is A main character but not THE main character. I do think Bird should've been the main character but honestly, I feel like all three of them should've been protagonists, something like Hikaru and Hyuga.
@@Chilled_Blue I guess its perspective. I would consider him a main character definitely but not the protagonist. I would argue x is the deuteragonist at most. Again like godzilla or Gatsby. The plot revolves around him but he doesn't really do anything that drives the plot forward. X is a phenomenon that drives the other characters to grow. Now, a good character writer wouldn't make characters that one dimensional and x certainly isn't one dimensional. But i really havent seen him grow as a character yet as he hasn't needed to grow yet. He has had no obstical or dilemma he couldn't immeadiately overcome. I believe the real reason for this is to be something that the real protagonist (who i believe is bird) can compare himself to. Assuming im right (im not so conceited to expect you to agree with me :) ) I still really love that they make bird and x feel like they stand equally as characters in the show. I feel like they can do a bit better job making multi feel like she has equal standing with the boys but i do believe that is what they are trying to do with her character. But yeah, if we consider that most shonen protags follow the heroes journey structure, then bird is clearly (to me) written to be the traditional protag over x. anyway, i think im likeing beyblade x over og beyblade or metal series in terms of writing so far (only watched a little burst)
Ekusu is diffrents he not like other beyblade protagonist who seek glory and obsessing wining and strengh and seek embition that ekusu guy he is only intersting enjoying beyblade battle and Challenge many strong bladers its make him more excited
They've said bird and multi are also MCs, but common X is the main focus holding them all together. Basically, I'm tired of people just pointing to common X as the MC of X when he isn't the only MC
X isn't the main character, Bird is the true MC, the story is in his perspective, and since he idolizes X and always tries to imitate him, I assume bird would see X as the main character instead of himself
@@Crowgioh I think it's something similar to what happens in Kakegurui (redundancy intended), where the one who is believed to be the main character actually isn't and is the other.
@@kaigacha6475Soo basically you're confirming my theory?, because X is seen as the protagonist meanwhile bird is the true protagonist of the story Also a part of my theory comes from a dialogue from Queen Manju after she lost to Jaxon when she talked to Pakkun about how shitty of a person he is, she mentioned that bird is a Protagonist of beyblade, and when she mentions Jaxon whether in her mind or to someone she references him as the Variable X is Jaxon, not that he is a Protagonist
@@Crowgioh The truth is, I was talking about the opposite, where Bird is seen as the protagonist, but it's Kamen. In the chapter, after fighting against Kamen, Quinn says that those who overcome adversity will be able to shine to be the protagonists of their own story. Rather, in that chapter, instead of pointing out one as the protagonist, I think he's putting more emphasis on the two, and seeing a little of the last chapter of the manga, I think they'll be putting more emphasis on Kamen during season 2.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that every youtuber calls beys and bladers by the wrong name, even with the anime. For example, the guy who all youtubers call bird, is named Robin, and the person who this video is about is either called Blader X or Jaxon Cross. At least in the anime he is.
@@Thebloxfruitsguy11 in the dub version it is Robin, Blader X, and Jaxon Cross but Bird, Ekusu Kurosu, or Kamen X are the original Japanese names that I use.
I think some of the points you make here are also reasons why some people might dislike Ekusu. He’s given the strongest bey from the beginning and it’s seems he was just good at beyblade since the start (we never see him actually train). Ekusu comes in and easily beats the champion of the X tower in his first battle with him and seemingly never struggles in his future battles. His ideologies are never actually challenged and his character just feels incredibly one-note and stagnant. But hey, that’s just my dumb opinion
Yeah but Khrome wasn't even the champion when Ekusu beat him. And I mean, the part where he is given the strongest bey, that can also be said for every other character in Beyblade X or even in every other show of Beyblade out there. The strongest bey is also kinda subjective. His ideologies are tested but it's just Ekusu doesn't waver. I think it's actually the best and perfect ideology to have for a game of Beyblade and it is kinda hard to challenge that type of thinking but that's just me. Unless there's like a deadly or severe situation where his ideology can be tested like what the Metal Saga has but Beyblade X doesn't really seem to be going in that direction.
If I remember correctly the manga has a chapter about X past. I think Zankye covered it. Edit:OK never mind, the video covered it. He does train though.
@@Chilled_Blue The term strongest here I think comprised of several different components. Sure Dransword is strong, but without Ekusu behind it, it won't be as strong. Clear example here is with the balance users, Bird and Shiguru. Shiguru is said to be very weak and clumsy, when handling anything other than balance type. She used Bird's Hellscythe againts Bird's Hells hammer and shows that she is overall stronger than Bird when it comes to balance type at that time. Give Shiguru, a Top player, ultimate balance user, a Dransword, and she will lose. Plus a fully exposed Dransword is proof of Ekusu's hard work, he doesn't need the extra grams from metal coat to win lol.
So where does Kamen x place in terms of best beyblade protagonist? P.s. I know you said valt is your favorite and Aiger is your 2nd favorite so i'm wondering.
I could've but I wanted to use the original Japanese name. When you say Ekusu pretty fast, it does sound like X but I didn't plus for me it kinda felt and sounded weird when I would say "X" for his name.

"Eh-koo-soo" brother *please* Also 10:05 I'd be scared like those cheaters too, even when I'm against these types of battles. (Imo Bird should've been allowed to cook these clowns to show development, but I'm happy with seeing a beyblade protagonist absolutely lose it like this
@Chilled_Blue Its moresore *how* you say it. Ekusu when spoken fast sounds like how you say "X". Every time I hear his name in the anime they say it like "Ekes-u" or "Eks-u"

Funny how both Yu and Ekusu have an obbsession with a guy that has a left spinning silver dragon bey and both their names begin with "Ryug".
@@Darth_Malgus4627 wow didn't notice that!
The chosen one! Great video
I hope you do one for Bird, I really like him as a whole and i would enjoy a deeper analysis of him.
This was a really great video essay, also im glad you know he’s the protagonist cuz a lot of people still think bird is.
Yeah but I still feel like Bird should've been a protagonist. I can't really blame the people for thinking he is because both Manga and Anime put more focus and development onto him.
Funny thing is takara officially stated that bird is the protagonist, but hasbro made X the protagonist instead of bird

I wonder if Ekusu/Jaxon will ever lose. TBH that's what I'm hoping for. Maybe next season.
I doubt it tbh. But I hope we actually see something like that and we actually see Bird win for once (even though he should've long ago).
@@Chilled_Blue His first win should've been the street fight.
@@harutosoma7186Ekusu ruined the street fight tbh
At first it might be impossible, but now he lost his interest to beyblade since he had his best battle with chrome, he might be done with it instead of losing.😢
“Nah I’d win” in a character
Ekusu is basically Gojo and it is literally perfect.
More like nah, I only win
I mean, we still have Aiga, Dante, Hyuga, and Bell so they still count as ones without blue.
7:48 Shu when free beat him in season 2💀
The fact he was holding back heavily against everyone else until the finale where he went all out against chrome and kinda humiliated him 💀😭🙏
Please do a video essay of Chrome Ryugu.
I was actually thinking about doing a video on Khrome, I even have the thumbnail made and everything.
OMG YES THAT'D BE AWESOME CHROME IS GEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE ANTAGS

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Robin from Beyblade X.
We need more bayblade content please

I think multi is the best one

Bird = always loses because of plot

@@Crowgioh I think it's something similar to what happens in Kakegurui (redundancy intended), where the one who is believed to be the main character actually isn't and is the other.
@@kaigacha6475Soo basically you're confirming my theory?, because X is seen as the protagonist meanwhile bird is the true protagonist of the story
Also a part of my theory comes from a dialogue from Queen Manju after she lost to Jaxon when she talked to Pakkun about how shitty of a person he is, she mentioned that bird is a Protagonist of beyblade, and when she mentions Jaxon whether in her mind or to someone she references him as the Variable X is Jaxon, not that he is a Protagonist
HOLY COW ITS JAXON CROSS

But ekusu is the only character that hasn't lost in the whole series
Still can't believe they named the main character X Cross 😭, never seen such creative bankruptcy.
