My travels in Syria continue with a visit to Damascus, said to be the oldest city in the world. Please note I am a tourist, a traveller, here in Syria and not of these videos are meant as a political commentary. These videos reflect my experiences as a traveller in Syria in November 2021.

Thank you! I had a wonderful time even though I can see how much the Syrian people have suffered. I can’t imagine what life is like for many locals and yes they are still friendly and welcoming.

@@JanetNewenham A very difficult life, no electricity for water, a huge rise in food commodities, and no job opportunities due to the destruction and the criminal regime, so many Syrians migrated to other countries

I'm so happy to see your vedeo about Syria..coz I've been there two times already., we spent new year at Beit Al Wadi so nice ...walked in the old souq...the ice cream haha the authentic sweets...and more to see hope to visit there again after ramadan

Yes it is one of the oldest cities in the world, more precisely Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city in the world.

The old man from the leather shop in behind welcomed u by saying in the original traditional Syrian Arab words ; "ya met hala bi ahsana" wish that means " the 100s welcome for the most gentle photogenic feminine"
P.s : in the Arab language world all the Arab can understand Syrian
+ its the most use in the media and in the market hotel business and receptions..
CuZ its so sensitive delicate full of details..

Is Syria allowing tourists who are not part of organised tours? My wife and I were going to use a tour operator out of necessity who is offering a good deal nothing like being independent and playing things by ear on the ground IMHO.

بلاد الإجرام والعذاب والموت ، كيف عقلي يتقبل فكرة السياحه في بلد كهذا وفي نفس الوقت هناك معتقلين وسجناء يصرخون من العذاب و الألم ؟ ،اذهب إلى قبري ولا افكر مجرد تفكير اني ازورها
الى كل الاغبياء الذين يطلبون من السياح عدم زيارة سوريا لانهم يظنون ان هؤلاء السياح سوف يثبتون نظام الاسد و يضخون المال في خزائنه
اقول لكم انتم مخطئون
اولا لن يعود عدد السياح الى سوريا كما كان عليه الى ان يحصل تغيير سياسي حقيقي في سوريا و لكن في الاوضاع الحالية يزور سوريا كحد اقصى مائة او مائتي سائح في اليوم
اي في احسن الظروف لن يتجاوز عدد السياح 80 الف سائح في السنة
و هؤلاء الثمانين الف سائح لن يضخوا الكثير من المال في خزائن النظام لانه في عام 2010 زار سوريا اكثر من ثمانية ملايين سائح و ساهموا ب 14% من اقتصاد سوريا بينما 80 الف سائح في السنة لا يساهمون الا بواحد من الالف من الاقتصاد السوري الضعيف اصلا
و لكن هؤلاء السياح سينفقون بعض المال مباشرة في الاسواق و هذه الاموال ستتحول الى رواتب لعمال و باعة و هؤلاء بدورهم سينفقوها في الاسواق و هكذا
اي هؤلاء القلة من السياح سيعطون بعض الامل للسوريين المخنوقين في الداخل
اما بالنسبة لاعطاء الشرعية لنظام الاسد: فطالما انه موجود في السلطة فهو لا يهتم بمن اعترف به او لم يعترف
و الى ان تقرر اسرائيل و من وراءها تدمير ايران فان الاسد سيبقى
و لكن تدمير ايران هو شئ شبه حتمي و حتما اسرائيل ستجد انه الحل الوحيد ان ارادت ان تستمر بالوجود و طبعا اسرائيل لن تقاتل ايران لوحدها بل كل دول الخليج سوف تجبر على المشاركة و كذلك مصر و الاردن و المغرب
فايران ستقاتل عدة جيوش مع بعضها البعض و سينهار نظامها و بعده مباشرة سينهار نظام بشار الاسد و النظام في العراق و سيختفي حزب الله و ستبدأ مرحلة جديدة في المنطقة و بعد ان تهدأ الامور سيتدفق ملايين السياح الى سوريا و العراق و لبنان

I wish you would go to the city of As-Suwayda in southern Syria, because the city of As-Suwayda is an important place for the Unitarian Druze sect and a wonderful place for all classes of society, but there are protests and demonstrations in As-Suwayda
