Ninja mudra combos feel great on controller also. Weird thing to like, i know, but some jobs -really- nail the controller feel, and ninja is one of them. The three mudras, and the ninjutsu button to execute all in one neat grouping of 4 is just perfect istg

Probably the best dps class in the game: Best flow, high skill floor and ceiling, great utility. I hope the FF14 devs continue to be intimidated by it so they stop touching it and wont ruin the feel like they did with SAM.
[EDIT: Fun bonus trick: If you're stuck on the boss's side (unable to get to the rear) for your -3 and True North is out of charges, Armor Crush is actually a DPS gain. Look at Armor Crush's Flank potency vs Aeolian Edge's non-rear standard combo potency. :D] I hate Melee. Like, I'm bad with DPS rotations at the best of times, so Caster cast times (a bit slower pace and more time to plan and think - 2.5 sec doesn't sound like a lot...but it's actually a lot) and non-set rotations (one reason I love RDM is it's a pretty slow pace and also pretty straightforward with a rotation that's more "balance your mana, oh, you have enough for a melee combo? Go wild!") ...but, OF the Melee...I really do like NIN. It's so mobile, it's too busy in burst but is wonderfully flexible. It's satisfying when you get it out right. The downtime is surprisingly chill considering how busy the burst is. Unlike WAR, DRG, etc, NIN actually shows its attack buff in a super easy to see way with the fanwheel and big number thing instead of just a tiny buff in the corner of my screen. NO FREAKIN' DOTS! (I hate DoTs). Oh, and of the Melee, it's one of the most pro-party support, which I love. Even if it has a bit lower personal damage, it's still higher than the Ranged, and it's got some fun random extra abilities, like faster run speed, less fall damage, 2 charges of a teleport, even the lightning gap-closer, and even a stealth ability for content where that could actually be useful. SO MUCH mobility! :D It's a little funky overall, but if I ever actually seriously pick up a Melee (and NIN is the one I'm TRYING to get better on), NIN would be it. Bonus points, it shares right side with Ranged, the other subrole I don't use much (my roles are Healer > Tank >> Caster >>>>>> Else), meaning my MCH and NIN can share some of my "fourth role" gear. If NIN would just bite the bullet and use Aiming gear (which honestly SHOULD be named Scouting at this point, since light/scout gear makes more sense for NIN/BRD/MCH/DNC where Aiming only makes sense for BRD/MCH, not even DNC...), that would make things perfect. For four gear sets, I could have all five groups covered, and that'd be amazing. :D
Its so hard to go back to other classes now that I have experienced the gcd speed of ninja. When I'm tanking dungeons now just gonna triple weave cause gcd is so slow. Also Ninja pvp is so awesome. Sniping people to half health and then limit break into oblivion and trying to chain that, you can basically wipe a party of timed well with party members.
Started FF14 free trial 2 weeks ago and progressed on pugilist but switched to rogue and continued to Ninja...and I had to grind exp to get to Lv 50. I love this job and the ninjutsu mechanic is very fun. Almost reminds me of an RPG called *Treasure of The Rudras where you combine magic words and the combination determines the spell effect* But since I am on Free Trial, I am locked behind Lv60. But I would consider continuing on Ninja after I max everything else within the free trial
I love the anime feeling ninja gives me. But I will default to monk for harder content, I fail at the mudras too often if I'm not paying attention to the bar. However I appreciate every ninja main out there who manages to put all their mudras and debuffs on time even in the hardest content
I remember when I first started I liked the idea of being a ninja, and all I heard from everyone was ninja did mediocre damage but gives great buffs to their team so it's a good class just not a great dps. Now here we are topping charts and injecting me with direct serotonin lol
Honestly? Love ninja to death. When my internet craps I do get the bunny of shame BUT until then I can hold high levels of aggro WITHOUT being a ninja main. I’m more focused on the fights when I’m ninja because of all its abilities and actions and I get the same good brain chemicals from hitting my ninjutsus and skills as I do getting my song procs with bard. Soooooo good hahaha
I kinda """enjoy"" positioning.. well.. i just don't hate it.. but I recently joined a few EX/Ministrel and positioning were a big bummer because the group were never behind the boss and since I didnt know the fight I didnt want to stay alone behind and take the risk of dying. At least if I die..I prefer to bring everyone with me :D so yeah, it might not me a crazy dps drop when avoiding positionals (since you can still use True North) but when you suffer from ADHD and can lose focus easily, for that reason, positionals can be very boring.
Black mage needs a buff it just isn’t fair how mobile ninja is and many black mages in my party deal less damage than summoners. They should make fire 4 at least 350 potency and buff xenoglossy to 900 potency
I agree it should get a damage buff but its mobility isnt too bad, it has a lot of resources for movement you just need to optimise them per fight. Ninja skill ceiling is its fast paced opener and rotation, black mages is knowing the fight and planning cooldowns accordingly
NIN would be great, and probably used a LOT more if it wasn't for some of its animations. Especially the running one, it is probably the only job where you can't escape that full on weeb shit. When it is a rogue it is great.
Real talk. If I was not obsessed with Scholar/Sage healing this would likely be my main. Ninja is THE king.
