Lovely recording of this transcendental gem of music. Hats off to these fine musicians for doing it justice! Gershwin integrates (to my ear) classical, jazz and Latin elements into a happy but still poignant piece. I think he might have subtitled it as "Everything will be just fine".
Even better is the Montclaire String Quartet's performance th-cam.com/video/qDwIlk_wrWE/w-d-xo.html. They give the edges and bounce that the best lullabies have--and which the diverse George Gershwin wrote so well!
Brings water to my eyes. Gershwin was a genius!
Agreed
Great musical piece.❤
That’s gorgeous. This was composed in 1919, way before Rhapsody in Blue in 1924. One of the best lullabies imo !
He was a student of Rubin Goldmark, and this was a homework assignment.

Among the great rock albums I had, this became one of my favorite pieces to listen to in 1972 (in college) - still is wondrous!
Absolutely beautiful!
Gorgeous.

Beautiful! Is this the original version for string quartet or an arrangement for string orchestra?
Gershwin's original version is for string quartet. :)
The pizzicato bass part suggests it's the orchestral arrangement, as it's not in the string quartet version.
Beautiful performance!where we can find the score?
There is a quartet score with four parts available from a lot of music shops. Or online.
