    Your wrong for that assertion. As a AM married to a filipina,I would like to own a bussiness here . I consider the Philippines my home. As it is I can just put a bussiness in my wifes name . Ether way she will have an income after I die . Im 65 now. Note the whole point to owning a company is making a porfit for your family. Id like your thoughts on my comment

    I totally agree that foreign investors don't want to own land. They want ease of doing business and to make profit. HK and Vietnam do not allow land ownership by foreigners. Have you seen in the news let's say big BPO companies (the biggest employer in the Phils and no. 2 contributor to GDP) asking that they be allowed to own? Nada. Only our greedy politician land owners want this so they can make huge profits when they sell to foreigners. Remember the political family who sold an island for billions which was turned in to a Chinese pogo hub? If allowed, Filipinos eventually cannot afford land similar to Filipinos not able to afford the purchase or lease of houses and lots and condo units during the ascent of Pogos.

    Exactly, foreign investors only want profits! Economic reforms are needed. You can’t avoid dynasties and term limits, the same here in the United States.

    With ownership , the foreign investors can better secure their profits. In fact, by ownership they can borrow more from local and international banks for business expansion which will in turn generate employment and increase tax collection.

      @@Mr.DMac123 Of course that's true with critical infrastructure, but lower level infrastructure I say let foreigners in with 100%. Filipinos are allowed to buy houses in Australia, Europe etc without being citizens, extend the same courtesy to the world and they will invest in and love the Philippines.

    You mean the president is the director, such crafting policies, while the premier is the executive director, executing the policies laid by the president. Admin and mgt is then separated. While parliament checks the president, while premier is head of parliament but is also limited to the powers of the president. Is that it? If so, then i agree, or mostly agree

    this guy makes sense. I hope a lot more engineers and scientists with practical professional practice and employment go into political office to inject more critical thinking. the Philippines needs to develop a profitable nuclear power industry and vertically integrated steel and precision machinery industry. the Philippines needs to encourage its people to innovate and encourage curiosity like flying drones, making rockets, producing jet engines, casting and manufacturing megaton presses. AI will very soon kill white collar jobs worldwide.

  • @kr.is.tougher
    @kr.is.tougher 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The question if the Philippines is profitable or not is very trivial. Look at all the local oligarchs dominating every business sector they monopolize. Aren't they getting richer each year?! Tell me if the Sys', Ayalas', MVP and Villar are going bankrupt? Aren't they the consistent wealthiest "Filipinos" in Forbes annually in Ph and in Asia and even globally? The problem really is the Philippine Charter basically blocks their entry into the local market with a meager 40% ownership, and the 60% to a local partner (is won usually by the local oligarchs as well). How would they maximize their earnings, yes profit, if you only have 40% of maximum allowable equity share in almost all the industries here? Not to mention a minority stakeholder means less influence to the very company they should own. The main issue here is not profitability but the openness of the market for foreign players. Unless we remove all these restrictions, then we will see if the Philippines is really attractive or not as a potential investment hub.

    You dont want foreigners owning land. He sewms to think its not an issue. But when foreigners with money come over and buy off every land there is because its cheaper for them then locals will find that land prices will suddenly become unaffordable way out of reach. Even australia is having issue with properties being so expensive because rich chinese people just come and buy properties sometimes leaving it empty after purchase. It cant be as simple as that. You need rules for different use of the land.

    It is a well-known reality that emotional decision-making, rather than rational and critical thought, frequently characterizes both government acts and public reactions. This tendency might stifle the country's capacity for growth and transformation by impeding the adoption of required changes and innovations.

    What most people, especially the policy makers are overlooking other things that discourages foreign investors from the Philippines such as the high costs of utilities, crippling bureaucracy, lack of infrastructure and the lack of diversity with regards to our workforce. These issues can be solved without bearing the risk of political instability.
