I feel ya. This is one of the reasons I have gotten into refurbishing, repairing, and even a little bit of modding. I have less anxiety knowing that if something bad happens, I can *probably* fix it. I can replace the screen, I can re-shell, etc. Even still, I keep my handhelds and controllers in zip-lock baggies when they're not in use. I'm so paranoid. When I put my Wii U into storage I seran wrapped it. I've seen too many corroded and disgusting motherboards while refurbishing.
Might want to bust the WiiU out of storage and just turn it on then let it go to the Red light off mode. The Nand flash has been dying on hynix models when the wiiu is not plugged in for a long time. Look into it. Hate for your wiiu to die even though you tried to take care of it.
I've had more than a few consoles fall apart or become unusable. Each time there's always this sinking feeling because the future of the console has been cut short, even when you felt there was so much more to experience. I just have to be mindful that I got more than just my money's worth and was given a lot of great memories. I have had my fair share of successes and failures when trying to fix them, but I do think there is a ton of merit in trying to save something meaningful rather than throwing it in the bin. Heck I still have two broken consoles I can't imagine tossing away.
Back in 2019, I had a SP-101 display in a regular GBA. It was clear orange, a beauty. Then, one day, disaster struck. My Wii took a dive off of my shelf and absolutely body slammed that poor GBA. I still have the motherboard, maybe I'll go with IPS eventually.
It’s not stained just get some rubbing alcohol and get a cotton ball and then put the cutting bowl up to the rubbing alcohol bottle open it upside down in a few seconds and take it off and clean it
just recently lost my save on my copy of Pokemon Y. I didn't do anything wrong, it just went bad I was told. It froze on the 3ds start screen. That was the first 3ds game I ever bought (and with my own money from my first ever job) so I was pretty attached to it. This video just hit home in so many ways as a very sentimental person myself.
Nice mindset haha I was the same back in the day. Let's start repairing consoles and why don't start with the hardest one out there. I learned my lessons with a new 3ds xl. That thing is a nightmare to repair. But like you said mistakes will happen things will break. Learn from your mistakes and make it better next time. One day you will have a decent collection that you did a great job on.
My n3dsxl has a sticky power button which I imagine is easy to fix but idk how to so I'll just buy a new one, sell the broken one for cheaper and transfer the data :/
My main new 3ds that I use had an issue where the face buttons werent working anymore because I was living in a humid environment for a while Was not fun i tried fixing it but now only the A button doesnt work too well so i need to go back and see if I can fix it up again a little more Its so annoying
Worst part was, was that for NO reason 2 of the screws stripped for no reason so i had to literally drill a hole through the screw just to open it permanently breaking the screw through the middle lol
Also had a test new 3ds (from my friend) i tried to fix because the wifi signal wasnt working (found out the ribbon cable was loose ig?) But when I put it back together It could charge!!! And thats it it wouldnt turn on anymore but it could still charge and the light would turn orange lol
I also saved a DSi from a school friend who was about to snap it in half before my eyes I got it for free and the hinge was broken and the L and R buttons wouldnt work (even after cleaning them) there was sand inside too, i think.. Best part was that when i turned it on and reset the pin with the master key The eshop was LOADED with already bought games ready to download which was so cool Got photo dojo from it which was super fun lol
My PSVita got infinity stick drift going down. No matter how clean it or blow air in it it ain't fixin I can't fix it cause I'm dumb ASF and nobody fixes the console in my country QwQ Btw never owned DS series but I now want to have one ❤
I really liked this video. It was thoughtful and reflective in a way that I don't see a lot of in video games communities. I hope you continue to play games and make art and live life.

Much respect to ya. I’m committed to re-shelling that black DS lite, so wish me luck.
Theres something i find weirdly satisfying about seeing gen 5 gameplay on the original DS model

@@BlackMesaResearcher My Wii is still going strong. I have it in my truck at the moment, it's always a conversation piece.

That’s how I learned that making save backups is SO important.
