  • There are many famous and controversial figures to emerge from World War II, but General S. Patton is arguably one of its most controversial. During World War II, Patton commanded victorious battles in the Mediterranean, North Africa, and mainland Europe.
But even though he had won famous victories and employed effective strategies during WWII, Patton was also known for his many controversies that included slapping shell shocked soldiers and sending a doomed task force to free his son-in-law from a POW camp. However, few would have thought that this man of war would die in a hospital bed after a car crash. This is the tragic death of General S. Patton.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

@@chris93703 Quite simple really. I read the reports of the incident and several books about it. There's no way that the "accident" would have created the damage to general Patton. Not to mention that General Patton had a cut on the back of his neck. According to the books, the shooter used a heavy, low speed bullet to break his neck. Is it true? IDK, as I wasn't there. But the records and books make a very compelling case.

@@stevenbass732 I have done my own research and feel quite differently. There was a lot of secrecy surrounding the crash because the guy who hit the car Patton was in was drunk and was a soldier in the army and Patton did not want to get the guy in trouble. A few years ago Patton's daughter was on a TV show and confirmed this story. There were 2 different hospitals with one being further away than the other but Patton asked to be taken to the one further away because it was a military hospital. I found nothing out of the ordinary of the injuries Patton suffered. HIs wife also did not have an autopsy done on Patton after he died so she didn't suspect anything either. The secrecy surrounding the crash is what started the conspiracy theories.

Do you honestly think that the American public, not to mention the politicisans, having just seen Germany defeated, and war in the Pacific remoresely and brutally still going on, would then want to carry on fighting, this time against Russia?
I think the armchair generals here have no idea as to what that would involve.
They would have had to fight the Russian army, probably four times the size of the US Army in Europe at that time, expell them from Germany, fight them all the way through Poland before they even got to the Russian border, and then be at the starting point where the Germans were when they attacked Russia in 1941. The German army, then the most powerful effective army in the world, fought savagely but could not even take Moscow or Stalingrad, which if you look at the map, are only a small part of the way into Russia,
You will argue that nukes could have been used - no way, after the two were dropped on Japan, three months after war in Europe was over, there were no nuclear bombs left, and it would be several years before there was any stock to deploy.
The uncomfortable truth is that in May 1945, the most powerful force in central Europe was the Red Army and there was nothing that the US and their allies, could do about it but resist it without going to war, by creating and maintaining NATO, and successfully seeing the end of Soviet Communism in due course, without firing a shot.

Patton was I feel and believe the greatest General and had great and larger than life charisma. His worlds were big and he meant everything he said and was a man of action. There's no way he could have lived much longer without fighting in a war and when he wanted to take troops and march into the USSR and push Stalin out of eastern Europe, his actions would have helped avert the cold war. He knew Stalin was evil and a murdering dictator and couldn't be trusted. It can not be ruled out that someone who was Patton's enemy head or set up to cause the accident that got him paralyzed and ultimately causing his premature death.

Wow! I did not know about the story of General Patton before viewing this clip which I ran into by incident.
But I remember fairly well s story that my dad who passed away two years ago had told me, many years back.
He was taken into war right away from classroom at school at the age of 16, first serving at the 8,8 FLAK near Frankfurt, a year and a half later being sent deep into Russia (being on a train for about 10 days, heading to the east). He ‚celebrated‘ his 18th birthday running for his life between German and Russian tanks and exploding grenades, losing the golden watch of his father that German army postal service had delivered to him only a few days before to his post.
Later in war, must have been early 1945, when the remainder of his unit had merged with others, all together desperately trying to escape from the Russian army that was quickly moving towards the west, they found themselves (somewhere in Czechia) nearly completely surrounded by Russian units. On one particular day during this deadly hunting by the Russians (my dad called this day the first of only 2 lucky days during his war time!) their spotters had identified an armada of armed vehicles heading towards them from the far distance, and they thought they where now completely trapped by the Russians. But those troops were US troops, and they had spotted the German unit, too. So, the US guys sent out 1 or 2 Jeeps with white flags mounted on top of their antennas, heading towards the Germans, and a GI, fluent in German language shouted at them „Hurry up, guys! Throw away your guns. We are here to rescue all of you! We have trucks, ready to pick you up and bring you back home, hurry, hurry - we have only few hours left.“ None of the Germans knew for sure whether this was a nice trick to de-gun all of them quickly with no resistance, but they all understood within seconds that the US troops were their only ticket back home. My father described this completely unreal scene for a couple of times to me, always making it very clear that they were not taken prisoners by the GIs, instead being aided by helping US hands to climb the trucks and find a safe seat inside. The Germans have been throwing away their firearms, ammunition belts, Knifes, hand grenades while running, yes, running towards the trucks. Back behind the lines of fighting at night, all German soldiers where officially taken prisoners by announcing it to them. They needed to stay for about 2 days on a large fenced piece of farm land with only a few armed US guards, telling them ‚If you want to go somewhere, feel free. We won‘t be shooting at you. But reflect that this ground might be Russian territory in a few days from now“‘. According to my Dad, nobody even thought about escaping. Instead, rumors were going around the improvised prison camp that the US army would bring them all back home, and then, after a few weeks of relaxing would provide them US uniforms and guns to unite with the US forces to jointly go against the Russians. We all know that this never happened. And my father and all the others were treated very well by the troops of Gerneral Patton, according to his narrations. Later, when a US truck with him and other captives on board crossed a bridge over a German river, was my Dads 2nd lucky day of those terrible years of fighting and killing because they were now in the US sector.
Interestingly, this part of WW II I never found in any history book at school. Do not know why.
I always felt that I needed to thank someone of the US army for the rescue of my Dad. Perhaps it now finds its way to the right address, and does not fire up new theories of conspiracy which is not my intent.
May such a terrible war never happen again and be nearly 200 million casualties of WW II be a warning to all of us - there will be no winners in such a war in the end.

There was a time during the last months of WW2, General Patton sent 300 men in a failed rescue attempt (more like a Suicide Mission) to rescue Patton's son in-law who became a prisoner of war since 1943 during the Battle of North Africa and was at a camp deep in Germany and out of the 300 that were sent, only 20 made it back to US lines, also during the fight back to US lines, the commanding officer that led the mission was captured after being seriously wounded along with Patton's son in law.

One of the Americans who observed the strange behavior of the Amer-
ican government was General George S. Patton. He had seen enough to
cause him to want to resign from tbe military so that he could "say what I want to" about America's "soft on Communism" stance during the war.
Patton knew enough about the military that he couldn't merely retire and
speak out, because military men of high rank, even though retired, are still
under the control of the government. This subjection to government
authority includes their ability to speak out on the main issues of the day.
Should Patton resign, he would be free to speak as he saw fit.
Patton had a strong dislike for what happened as the Russians acquired
much of Eastern Europe, and it is said by many that he was going to speak
about this betrayal to the American people after the war was over. But, before he had a chance to resign, he was killed after an automobile
accident caused him to be hospitalized.
In 1979, a former undercover agent for the Office of Strategic Services,
the OSS, gave an interview in which he claimed that he had been asked to kill
Patton. This agent was "... Douglas Bazata, a veteran intelligence agent,
who said he received a contract on Patton's life in 1944. According to Bazata,
the order for the 'hit' came down to him from none other than the legendary
Office of Strategic Services direct from [its administrator] 'Wild Bill'
Donovan." When Bazata was asked why he was finally going public with this
admission after so many years, he said he " . . . was in poor health and wanted
the American people to know the truth.'
It was Bazata's contention that, although he collected more than $10,000
for the death of Patton, he was not responsible for Patten's actual death. He
claimed that he knows, however, who did kill him, and that Patton was
killed by a dose of cyanide in the hospital where he was taken after the
automobile accident, and that it was the cyanide rather than the accident that
    took his life.

You throw politics in here by focusing on Bill Oreilly's boOk (and mentioning Fox News I notice too) while not even mentioning Target Patton which started the whole Patton Assassination therory going again in recent years, with much more speculation on the accident being a set-up with a steel ball that left no marks being shot into Patton's neck immediately after the accident occurred.
In any case, the reasons for killing Patton aside from his anti-Soviet stance was the fear of him talking and releasing his autobiography (as an independently wealthy man, he could forfeit his army pension and write whatever he pleased), especially speaking openly about the political decisions that cost thousands of Allied lives, like stopping in France and letting the Germans escape in September, etc.

General Patton was duly "eliminated" by the Establishment at the time because of his positions against Moscow, Patton, after the defeat of the German government, called on the allies to continue marching towards Stalin's dictatorship and this angered the "allied command" at the time . Josep Stalin was a great supporter of Adolph and his regime and later on it was proven that Patton's view of this regime was very correct.

      Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
      2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6

Lol are you saying the Japanese killed paton...I never understand how people idolise generals. They are paid servant's. Who put into operations plans, to get an objectives done. They don't fight. Don't get covered in blood. They Don't stand alone in a hole in the ground. They Don't have to piss and shit where they're hiding. They're courage is never tested. A general is the one that decides who's most likely to die. While dressing in nice clothes laying down in a nice bed. And judging others... Remember that when you say the start of the 2ND WORLD WAR. ..IT STARTS IN CHINA WITH THE JAPANESE. THEN OTHER COUNTRIES JOINED IN AT DIFFERENT TIMES FOR DIFFERENT REASONS
