      I was a high school teacher from 2016-2018 and was just starting to get students who were born in 2001.
      I joined the army in 2019, in large part due to 9/11. I'm from NY so this event had a huge impact on my life. Took me a while to join but I eventually did... that's a different story.
      The point is, the 2 new kids in my unit were born in 2002.
      I know we just withdrew from Afghanistan, but to put this in sobering perspective, there are military service members who went to Afghanistan in 2001 and 2002 who have sons and daughters who've deployed to Afghanistan 18, 19, and 20 years later.

      As chief of staff Andrew Card walked into the classroom he whispered in Bush's ear that a second plane had hit the South Tower.

Antifa and BLM didn't desecrate America's Capitol in an attempt to overthrow a democratic election, and chanted death threats towards the VP, so to compare them to the insurgents on 1/6 is almost laughable. • @RDRF_SB13
      @RDRF_SB13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cpt_Guirk Yes I agree tribalism is a huge divisive force.
      I suppose what I mean is selfishness: You can be an individual but far too often I see people dehumanize others in an effort to establish a stronger sense of self identity. That's what I mean by "hyper individualism".
      I think it goes for both those who are selfish in terms of gaining material wealth, but also those who wish to gain some sort of identity/meaning in a world where it is increasingly hard to do so. I see it as a result of our culture, we focus so internally that we often neglect the community, and in turn hurt ourselves. That's just my opinion though.

    • @Cpt_Guirk
      @Cpt_Guirk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RDRF_SB13 I think they are dehumanizing others based on tribal identity. They do based on gender, ethnicity, race, status of material wealth, vaccination status, sexual orientation, add Infinitum. Our identity as individuals is the thing we share. We are all conscious agents. It's the only thing that unites us. WE are a network of conscious agents. I think you are way off in your assessment. What's wrong with gaining material wealth? Wealth is a product of innovation and labor. It gives people value. Your computer is material wealth and you get to share your uninformed opinions with others because of it. Gaining wealth alone doesn't give ultimate meaning but creating it and making people's lives better because of it does. Your comment reeks of anti-capitalist brainwashing. All systems generate inequality because inequality is a fact of nature. Capitalism, however, is the only system that generates wealth. Check the UN stats. It's lifting the world out of absolute poverty at an astonishing rate. If you have an issue with someone else having more material wealth than you then that's just jealousy. People should focus internally and fix their own problems and make themselves better citizens. Focus on the reason why you have envy over other people's material property. When you get that straight then maybe you can start to improve the community by creating something of value. It doesn't have to be a thing but it could be a service that requires excess capital and material wealth to implement. Individuals get to do that in free-market capitalism. I believe in your potential. I really do so go out and realize it and stop projecting online.

      Bush is a far better, smarter, capable man-and president-than he was ever given credit for. A number of factors account for that, including but not limited to:
      -the bigoted, offensively snobbish penchant of many in the media & on the Left (redundant) to portray anyone with a southern accent as a naive yokel;
      -the tactic on the Left to simply smear people they disagree with, rather than arguing the merits or faults of policies, principles and theories.

    20 years seems so long ago, but at the same time when I think of 9/11 it brings so many vivid memories like it was yesterday. What I remember most in the days that followed was the Unity of everyday people and of our own government. What happened later is a different debate. I've lost a father and a brother since that day and kids that have grown up and have their own lives, but still when I sit for a moment and remember that day my chest still feels heavy and there is a tightness around my heart. This country was at its best during the days that followed the September 11th attacks and it breaks my heart that we have since become a country of such bitter anger towards each other.

It is believed that had they not been used the death toll from an invasion of Japan the death toll would be much higher than that. As far as death tolls from the Global War on Terror you are also way off. Clearly you don't care about the actual numbers and based on your reply it is clear you didn't listen to his speech. I'm glad to see you enjoy and exercising a God given right that is denied to thoes in countries like Afghanistan and Iran.

      @@studyonislam3892 Not even close to millions of innocent killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. While I dont agree with the patriot act, you could easily blame every president after bush for continuing the act. Finally Japan was a terrorist state, peal harbor? Have you heard of it? They wernt going to stop, they wernt going to lay down thier arms in any conventional sense, we would have had to take every single island japan had conquered by force, and it would have lead to exponentially more deaths had the US not sent a message by dropping those bombs. The message being we've figured it out, we know how to wipe you off the face of the earth and are prepared to do it if you dont lay down arms right now.
