@@adrianaavila8853 yeah - its one of the many details I love about this movie. It's like the story bookends the movie. The first telling is viewed through the perception of a young Mirabel. And then the second telling is through the emotional maturity of a lot older and empathetic Mirabel - with a fuller understanding of what that story meant.

Really? I feel a lot of people caught onto it early, I’m surprised to hear someone didn’t pick up on it. For me personally, it was the fact she acts so passive aggressive toward Mirabel, the “Family Madrigal” song referring to her as “The perfect golden child” in addition to the fact she is basically glued to Abuela’s arm, and Abuela’s semi patronising words or affirmations reminded me a lot of Gothel and Rapunzel relationship, where it was very one sided and only benefitting one party. This entire formula presenting itself so early on we’re dead giveaways for insecurity, high expectation and keeping it together for the family…. Nobody is happy having to do that, so I had Isabela’s arc figured out early on.

Oh yeah. Abuela has put a lot of pressure on Isabela to be the one who takes Abuela's place as the keeper of the house, the keeper of the candle, and the mother of the next generation of Madrigals. Abuela puts that pressure on Isabela specifically, because Isabela reminds Abuela so much of herself when she was young. (They look almost exactly alike!)
In the end, though, that role ends up getting divided between the grandkids in a sense. I think Mirabel didn't get a "gift" because she was meant to take over for Abuela as the keeper of the candle and the house. Since it looks like Dolores will end up with Mariano, it also looks like Dolores will take on the responsibility of bearing the next generation of Madrigals.

There's a theory that Mirabels power is control of the house, the same as Abuela. That's why the house is breaking, because Abuela wants absolute control and the house is tearing itself apart between the two. It's also why Mirabel never got a room, the whole house is her room.

    • @thosesiblingss
      @thosesiblingss  2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

well the other theory is that she did get a power, She is becoming the candle. The candle's power started to go down when she came of age to receive the gift. The cracks happen when she is upset , sad or angry, no one else causes the cracks but her. She is the light of the family and at the end the power is fully in her and she gives everyone back their power. The hints are the butterflies on the candle and butterflies on Mirabel's clothes and if you watch all the other characters their clothing have things to do with their power. Disney is heavy on symbolism.

Basically she's the steward for the miracle, the way Abuela was. Fun fact: Mirabel is derived from the Latin word mirabilis which means "miraculous".
One detail I love is that in the pictures of all the door ceremonies, the doors show their adult selves, but they're still kids. Because that's how Abuela sees them - as the responsibilities their powers come with. But Antonio's door shows him as a kid, because it's actually Mirabel who gives him his gift, and she sees him as he is.

LOVED the balance between gushing about the light hearted things and laughing at the jokes while also making amazingly accurate theories/predictions on what would happen (mirabel not having a gift, isabela not being happy, the house breaking and getting rebuilt), while also picking up on themes like Mirabel being upset she doesnt have a gift - yet those with gifts are just as unhappy. Even being reminded of Hamilton without knowing Lin Manuel Miranda was involved ! The man is a genius. Very good video, ive watched the movie a thousand times so its fun to see what first timers pick up on and theorise about (and cry at hahaha)

Although she actually did have a gift. The whole time. Her gift was to take over for Abuela as steward of the miracle. (Fun fact: Mirabel is derived from the Latin word "mirabilis" which means "miraculous".) But Abuela is too controlling to relinquish her role. As a little girl, Mirabel just accepts it, but now that she's older, she wants her gift. That's why the cracks start forming - a tug of war between her and Abuela. Culminating with the final crack literally running between them.
In the pictures of all the kids at their door ceremonies, they are all little, but they are standing in front of their doors which depict them as adults. Because that's how Abuela sees them - as the responsibilities that come with their gifts. But Antonio's door shows him as a child. Because Abuela didn't give him his gift - Mirabel did. And she sees him for who he is now.
Plus she is the only one other than Abuela who understands & can communicate with the casita. The final scene wasn't her getting her gift as much as it was her claiming the gift she already had.

The colorful river is a real place in Colombia, the Caño Cristales. And, if anything, it looks more beautiful in pictures than in the movie!

They even included a sad fact about Colombia's history: forced migration. Colombia has suffered internal wars for more than 50 years, and people who live in rural areasare the most affected, they have to left their home in order to survive, and, sadly some families were separated or incomplete in this process. It is an amazing movie and the hidden hints and foreshadowing were my favorite part of the story and design... watching it a second (and more) times, I noticed a lot of things abut Mirabel' scenes and i think she seems to have hints of everyone's powers in her... she interacts with the house like Abuela (Casita listens to her throughout), she sees hints of the future like Bruno (predicting Antonio's gift), she heals the family like her mom, (she embroiders things and is always trying to decorate like Isabella), she is always carrying more than she should for the family like Louisa. She fits into every situation like Camillo and knows everything that's going on like Delores...

I reached the end! I loved the conversations! (And body language! Hah!) I've watched a lot of reactions to Encanto and it is a great way to enjoy Disney's storytelling expertise by observing how people react the same at certain scenes, or differently based on their personal experiences. For example, some people dance and smile through Luisa's song and some people sob their way through it and think it is the saddest thing ever. Everyone laughs when Mirabel drops Bruno in the pit though. :D You two were really in sync with the plot from the beginning, more than I've ever seen, but you can see so many more different facets by watching different reactions. I especially love reactions from people who live in Columbia -- you get a deeper understanding of how Disney is choosing to portray the culture. You two were a pleasure to watch! Liked and subscribed!

Haha, my tía's name is Maribel and we're from Colombia so everyone in our family kept mixing Mirabel's name because of how close it is just like you both did so no worries! Oh also, fun fact, Mirabel means "wondrous" :) I also loved how expressive all of the characters were--especially Mirabel. She's just a total goof who doesn't just have, flat, pretty facial expressions like a lot of animated and live action female characters often have. Stephanie Beatriz (the actor who voices Mirabel) and the animators did an absolutely phenomenal job! This is my first video of yours that I'm seeing and I love your thoughts and commentary

This was so fun to watch because you guys remind me a lot of my brother and I and how we watch things. I dont think its that no one cared about protecting Mirabrl as her parents are desperate to reach her. Casita literally throws the entire family out of itself to save them, but you guys made me realize why Abuela never said anything in this scene. I really think she was reliving what happened with Pedro. Not only was she losing her home again, but she had to watch her grandkids do exactly what Pedro did. They desperately wanted to save their family and instead of running from danger, Camilo, Isabela, and Mirabel all ran towards danger. However, theres a darkness in that they were willing to throw away their lives for the candle because they thought that was the source of their worth. I think that was probably the biggest reality check for Abuela Alma. She was so hyperfocused on preserving the magic, she almost lost her real miracle.

"Hay que partir y construir su proprio futuro"
Which means "needs to break and build your own future"

A point that didn't come to me until after a while: Luisa could never have done it, because she's too busy hauling donkeys. Isabella could never challenge things, because she has to be perfect. Everybody has their assigned role, which rules out the possibility of changing the status quo.
Mirabel is the one that doesn't fit in, doesn't have any expectations, and doesn't have assigned duties. She's the only one free to actually do what she does. Perhaps that's why she's perfect for the job.

    Fun facts about the movie:
    - Abuela's (Abuela's name is Alma, which means Soul btw) backstory is a reimagination of the colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novel "100 años de soledad" (100 years of loneliness) were the main character also gets his homeland taken, he sacrifices himself for her wife an children; he was often sorrounded by yellow butterflies, so much that most of the time you couldnt even see his face
    - In the Madrigal's song, Abuela is singing in another melody, the one from his Backstory "Dos Orugitas" (2 caterpillars)
    - in " We dont talk about Bruno", we can see Bruno in the background during all of the Dolores' part, and she's dancing and pulling Mirabel around so she doesnt notice him
    - Not a fun fact but i just love how Luisa is so dedicated to care for his family and the lines:
Give to your sister, your sister's older
    -----------------------------, your sister's stronger
    -----------------------------, it doesn't hurt
-----------------------------, and never wonder, if the same pressure would've pulled you under
    - In Isabela's song after they rise in the Palma de cera tree, Mirabel sings about how she thought Isa's life was always perfect, with the melody of Isabel's part in "We don't talk about Bruno" where she said that her dream life *someday* would be hers and that her power would grow
    - Luisa's song clearly references Hercules and Titanic, Isabel destroys a flower figure of her in her song, like Elsa in Let it go
    - Bruno was repairing the house's cracks and hiding in the walls; Disney World created a unique shade of green paint (Bruno's Green) to “erase” backstage buildings and camouflage construction walls from your sight, because it blends with most backgrounds and landscapes

    • @NickCTorres
      @NickCTorres 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      - Isabel the Miracle Bearer:
      - Her door wasn't inside the house because, as sucessor of Abuela, her room and domain was the house itself except from the individual rooms (reason why Casita can't extent to those rooms), that way she can be connected to the whole family and be there for everyone
      - the Madrigal's song, starts with Mirabel standing in front of Abuela's door
      - While Casita interacts with everyone she only obeys Abuela and Mirabel, the only 2 who actually talk to it
      - The miracle was born from Abuelo Pedro's sacrifice, hence why the candle has a butterfly
      - Casita might be Pedro's spirit, since the Miracle created the house and we only see Abuela and Mirabel talking to Abuelos Pedro
      - Both Abuela and Mirabel blamed each other and themselves for the Miracle fading and they were both right, the Miracle got stronger/waker whenever Mirabel felt hopeful/desolated, so Mirabel was the force and abuela was the cause, but they didn't understand what was going on until the end

One thing I never see mentioned is that Abuela NEVER talks about the death of her husband!
      "He was lost..."
"This is where we were given our miracle!"
It is Mirabel in the end that pointed it out.
My grandma was a child/young teenanger in Germany when WW II ended. She nealy never talked about those days and when then only in "funny tales".....

Awesome reaction and so happy I found you! I love how you picked up on so much, not many do, and also how genuine your reactions were. Your “long discussion” was fun and interesting as well. A great duo!
Also I hope I’m not offensive by saying it, but I was very curious about the.. tiny round hat thingy (I’m so so sorry, I don’t remember what it’s called). I have always been wondering how those stay on whenever I see them, and I just wanted to thank you as I now finally saw the clips and know how! Or at least one way how. So thank you!
I am so sorry if that’s offensive of me, I swear I mean no harm and was genuinely just curious. ❤️
Also. The mushroom hat. Love it! And the hair! Got me jealous lol and I kept thinking “your hair is even nicer” whenever it was mentioned 😂❤️
Last thing (sorry, long comment) I have to say is that the Ursula impression was hilarious!
    Okay, that’s all.
    Much love! ❤️

Also thank you so so much for letting me know! I like the ki-pa (am I allowed to call it that as well? If not and only certain groups are allowed then I’m sorry!) and have always been fascinated with the mystery of how they stay on. I’ve imagined all from somehow braided in to glued on, haha! So it’s great to finally know that my top one guess was right. Thank you!
Hope you both have a wonderful day and are doing well! 😃

I've seen this movie so many times, in English and in Spanish and I've seen many reactions and yet every time I see it, I cry again, I laugh again,... of everything, I love, my favorite movie of life, besides which is based in my country Colombia, makes it even more special for us. React to the Oscars!, Dos Oruguitas and We don't talk about Bruno were featured; Dos O uguitas did not win (not fair at all), but the presentations were; one beautiful the other beautiful the first 30 seconds, then they ruined it but, I want to see their reactions from the Oscars!.

Was a very enjoyable watch, about to go watch your Wall-E video, I really like the way Disney has tried to switch over to very grounded movies about more relatable conflicts, where villains don't really exist, but is more about characters' relations or struggles. My more recent disney movie that I remember loving to hell was Inside Out (if you haven't then it's a must watch). Other movies I'm found of from Disney would be Tangled and the classic Aladin.
Back to Encanto, honestly, Sis (sorry don't know your name) is the first person I've seen that caught on to the "you must hug Isabelle" during the vision a lot of people assume it's Abuela, if I had to pick my favorite character then I would probably lean towards one of Mirabel or Luisa. I hope they make another movie like Encanto where the conflict is very grounded and is a joy to watch.

    • @thosesiblingss
      @thosesiblingss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you thank you ❤️
This is Ron speaking, since im not sure i can speak for Ayala(sis😉), i agree that disney has made the change, and they have done it well, but in my opinion the old Disney movies were very deep despite the apparent 'simplicity' of having a 'real' villain and everything...
I believe those stories were just more - archetypical - as in, grasped the essence of evil sins or elements in a very primal way, and just made it acceptable for kids with the personification of the characters...
      Any way😅 ...
We did watch inside out, it was great! And we hope you enjoyed our Wall-E reaction by now!❤️

I LOVE this movie it hits close to home and I relate to all the characters in some way but mostly the 3 main sisters although Isabela reminds me sooooo much of my sister Mia but she has called me the "Golden Child" and I thought it ironic, considering I always considered her to be the golden child and not me, but aside from that I really enjoyed your reaction and look forward to future reactions I'm glad you seemed to enjoy Encanto!

I read a theory that The abuelo Pedro’s spirit is actually the house since it came from his sacrifice. Which is why the house didn’t give mirabel a gift. He knew they were relying too much on magic that as the abuela said he sent her mirabel to open her eyes.
