A real trip down memory lane. I remember you could drive down the first main street you walked down. I could never remember the names of the streets. Place looks great though.

Lunchtime on market day.
Retford has become a ghost town.
It's a great video diary, especially compared to previous videos over the years when the town centre was jam packed on market days.

I haven't been to retford fore must be 44 years since my cousins lived there. So fascinated to see what it like as only a child last time.

@@GimbalWalkTV even years ago my sister in law mentioned she was amazed at the toilets on way to the park and shop mobility , never seen anything like it in sussex

I don't know about anybody else but the cloud above the church on the left handside looks like an Angel looking down on the church, u really have to look hard to see what I'm seeing, looks fantastic. Great video like always 👍👍

I used to live here and now I’ve moved I realised I never appreciated the town properly

Interesting , I searched under Retford as part of my family history interest. It would have been useful to have a few more captions, re the oldest buildings. My ancestors are recorded as being ‘weavers at the mines’,… not quite sure what this means…..we’re they part of some industrial process,( like weaving ropes or some such ?) or handweavers ….but why ‘at the mines’ & where would those mines be, exactly ?

It's on the East Coast main line, (Edinburgh/Leeds/Hull to London). Just off the A1 too. Famed for centre for the Pilgrim Father's.

Good question - I think it's quite quiet but not 100% sure
Yes. I used to live there. At kings park. There's a free water park and park. It's open 24. There's also a canal u can swim in ( don't recommend) they often have pantamimes.
Is Retford posh or a deprived town?
I would say a very average Town
