So I'm not buying or researching another dang piece of curriculum for my kids or myself until after I've read both of these books. I'm going to buy them right now
The article on recomendations for adult education was written awhile ago so I am just wondering if those recomendations have changed at all. Thank you for your time you are a very inspiring woman.
Dear Susan, How did you become so smart? I'm genuinely asking. You're one of the smartest people on the entire planet that I'm aware of and, given that I also would like to be smart someday, I'd like to know how you acquired your bredth of understanding and intellect.
Eliza--breadth of understanding comes with time and work--so read, read, read, read, read! Write about the books that you read. Read fiction, history, and LOTS of biographies. Read thought journals and decide whether or not you agree with the articles. Give yourself research projects on issues and ideas that you know nothing about. By the time you're my age, you'll have breadth!
Hi Eliza! It's been 5 years. How is it going so far? I'm just asking becouse I'll start reading Susan's book now. I would like to know if you have really benefit from it.
Dear Susan, What's your opinion about How to read a book, Didascalicon and The Intellectual Life? I need to be sincere: I bought your book thinking I was buying The Well-Trained Mind. =D But now I'm going to buy both.
Any book will to some extent help your vocab. This book is about educating your mind through many books and hence will help your vocab indirectly. There are some books recommended for improving vocab specifically at the end of chapter 2.
This woman amazes me. She's so young and knows so much it blows my mind. I wish I had found her a few years ago.
I am having book envy! Look at all the wonderful books you are surrounded by, Susan!
Obrigado Susan! Brasil.
You are so intelligent and well read, articulate...how do you do it? I'm trying to be that way (an intellectual) you rock..
My grand children as teens enjoyed Weis selected histories.
Jesus, this lady's style is so crisp. Bought two of the damn books even though I already know this stuff :)
