    I just bought a pair of black Corcoran Jump Boots size 11. I followed Corcoran's recommendations, Where them for a 3-5 hours a day, on the 3rd day, they are broken in. They hurt like hell on day one, more comfortable after 20-30 minutes. I know where them everyday at work. I found mine at a thrift store called Savers, they were brand new, with tags and only $50.00 I bought them because we used to wear these in MP school in the Army with bloused dress pants. Mine are a high gloss, mirror like spit shine on the toe and heel caps. Everyone at work is blown away at how mirror like my boots are.

    I just started watching some of your videos. Guns, Guitars, Jump boots and monkey boots, all great things. Surprised you don't have more subs. I am enjoying the videos so far. I particularly like how compulsively thorough your reviews are. I can certainly relate which makes them quite entertaining for me. You just got a new sub.

    Ive found the best all round treatment for boots, new or old, is an australian product, oakwood leather conditioner, its way better than saddle soap, neatsfoot oil etc, it will soften up old boots that have been neglected for years, and doesnt harm stitching!!

    With the return of the Pinks and Greens uniform here's hoping the US Army re-authorizes Corcorans for wear. They've already been talking about bringing back Brown Jump boots, so why not bring back the originals?

      I mean current boots are also made by Corcoran so if anything the military has brand loyalty through tradition at this point

    Wore these boots during my army career, including jump school and flight school. Unfortunately these boots are 1930s design and technology and with those smooth soles, were dangerous in wet, muddy conditions. They also had a very thick leather for the tongue and I still have scars on my anoles from running and from normal wear. They fit nicely after broken in, but getting there is the problem.

    In the military you break in two Pair at the same time. But as we've just learned it is impossible to pick yourself up by your boot straps.

    dos'nt the sole drop off when the stitches are worn out?

    • @OklahomaLubeDude
      @OklahomaLubeDude 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      no it does not. there are multiple layers of stitching as well as the soles being glued on. For better comfort on breaking these in you may try skipping the fourth or fifth eyelet as well.

    • @scdevon
      @scdevon 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      metamaggot The soles never fall off of Corcorans. The stitching is there to stabilize the sole layers until you walk on them a bit and bond the glue forever with the weight of a person walking on them. Once the soles take a permanent set, it doesn't matter what happens to the stitching.

    May I recommend for break in..... DO NOT POLISH them when you first get them. Give your boots a good coat of LEATHER HONEY on the outside, and let them sit for a couple days to soak and soften the leather. Then, when you wear them, wet the inside of the boot with warm water, and wear a thick pair of socks. Tighten them snug top to bottom, and wear them hard to work in the leather.
    After broken in for a few weeks, then mink oil or polish them.
    Oh, and if you use the supplied nylon laces, rub them in bees wax to prevent them from coming untied.

      Condor1970 I would not use too much mink oil it soften em too much maybe to break em in but that’s it then use bick 4 or obanaufs every year should be ok twice if your in ruff environment

  • @pacovl46
    @pacovl46 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Use mink oil on the outside and inside of the boots. Works wonders when it comes to breaking them in.

    • @Murtagh653
      @Murtagh653 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i heard that it's a bad idea because mink oil can rot the leather and the stitching

      if you wanna believe that, but it is better to be safe than sorry. i just came from another video of the same sort of boots and the dude said his ended up rotting after using mink oil on them

    What is the sizing like on these? I wear a 13 in a tennis shoe/sneaker. I'm size 12 in a Converse Chuck Taylor.

  • @Swoop180
    @Swoop180 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wear them in the shower, get them soaked and wear for the day. Let them dry for a few days then clean well with saddlesoap and condition with Bicks Number 4.
    Be sure to spitshine before use.
    Also, Midwest Boots sells Kevlar laces that will never come untied unintentionally and they last forever!😉

    The sole is putting me off. I mean that is a tremendous amount of wear after just one month. The stiching just looks very vulnerable on a flat sole.

    • @boborabona8133
      @boborabona8133 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go a half size smaller. That's about normal but sometimes it may require a full size down. So if you're a 9 in normal civilian shoes go 81/2 or an 8. You'll have to try the 81/2 first and if you think they are too lose try 8.

    I've found the best way to break them in is to soak them in water for about 5 minutes while you are wearing them. Then wear them for a good 6-7 hours take them off and stuff them with paper towels and let them sit over night. Then put them on the next morning and wear them all day and run in them. It may take two days more but they should be broken in.

    I have a question. I have a pair of these that are black, they're a 10.5 because I was afraid of them being to small but now that they've broken in they're too big. My toes barely meet the toe caps and I have to tighten the laces a lot to get them to my feet. My foot moves around a little in one of the boots. I'm considering getting a new pair. Should I get a size down or half a size down?

      The Corcoran Jump boots are made on the Army Munson Last, you can look up what that means, however, they will run about 1/2 long. I wear size 10ee in Red Wing measured by the Brannock Shoe sizing device. I ordered 10ee and the are 1/2 size long, but no big deal. However, they run a little narrower in the width. They will stretch out a little so they are a good fit now, just a tad bit long. I soak mine with neatsfoot oil inside and out and break in is a breeze. Either that or i have just got really used to them. I have owned about 8 pair over the years, trust me, 1/2 size long is no big deal. I tried sizing a half size down and my toes were almost touching the end, uncomfortable. I went with my regular size and was fine. Just remember use neatsfoot oil inside and out the first two times oiling them and you will be good. After that you can just polish or oil the outside. However, with the tanning and treatment they use to get the finish on them that they have oil does not penetrate the leather on the outside too well. That is why I did the inside... softened the leather right up and by day two it felt like I had been wearing them for several weeks.
