@@Starrymauvy yana did a good job. The characters are very fun (some of them, especially azul are very relatable) plus she was quite sneaky hiding obviously similar character traits/design choices which look VERY similar to her previous work, black butler! (Looking at you Jade Leech 🤨)
I wouldn't recommend playing the localized version anyway. They censored and changed a lot of things and most of the characters don't feel like themselves at all. Not to mention the strangely racist addendums to Jamil's character. Until there's a better localization, it's better to support the original release.

@@Starrymauvy First of all, I would like to say that no, Yana has not been in hot water for any of these, western Twitter just freaked out over nothing. Starting with the Diasomnia uniforms, that was a mistranslation by someone who used essentially google translate and later issued an apology after people who know Japanese pointed out his mistakes. Diasomnia uniforms have a militaristic vibes but have nothing to do with the things this person accused Yana of, and Yana never got in any hot water for it. Same for the new year's event since clothing from a certain time period doesn't actually mean you support everything that happened in that time period and Twitter was just having a meltdown over the same type of clothing that all works inspired by or set in that time use because there was nothing better to complain about at the time. I'm not sure what part you mean about Tamashina Mina because there were two big Twitter blowups, one of them being that the outfits that were explicitly based on the Lion King Broadway musical were not 1:1 accurate to real cultures, which I'm sure you can see why that was an overreaction and didn't actually land Yana in any trouble, and then the lighting of Leona's groovy not being to some people's liking but again, Yana never got in any hot water for it. Now as for Jamil, the localization did a number of things to erase his whole arc by censoring the fact that he's a servant (and attempting to make him Kalim's cousin before they got massive backlash for it) but that's a class issue so I won't go into detail there. They changed Jamil's unique magic (special spell)'s name from Snake Whisper to Snake Charmer. Now, I'd be willing to maybe give them the benefit of the doubt as while this is a well-known racial stereotype, maybe they somehow didn't know? However, they then also went and changed Rook's nickname for Jamil from Monsignor Multi (to reference Jamil's multitude of talents and multi-sided personality) to Monsignor Pyramid. I'm sure I don't have to explain that one. These two are just the big things but the localization has done plenty of smaller changes to Jamil's character and dialogue that feel unimportant individually but paired up with these bigger issues, it doesn't paint a pretty picture. Among other things censored is also any queer or borderline queer content (the boys now insult each other in places there were compliments, Cater no longer says he'd date Vil, Rook no longer insinuates Trey and Riddle are together, Vil can't be called beautiful or pretty, Epel can't be called cute, etc.), violence (the twins didn't beat a sturgeon to then rip off its scales for their earrings nooo, they made a bet and the sturgeon gave them the scales willingly), trauma and child abuse (Riddle's mom went from an abusive control freak who withheld food from him if his performance wasn't to her liking to a mildly helicopter-ish parent and Trey's parents were made to yell at him instead), and most showcases of the boys caring about each other (they made Cater mock Riddle after he broke down after overblot, just as the worst example) among other things.

Those little adjustments make a huge difference to a player's connection to the story, who are they trying to appeal to? I understand that maybe Yana didn't get into much trouble as I assumed (even just scanning over threads in Twitter exaggerates most situations). I trust that such issues may be large misunderstandings, and perhaps people are grasping at straws to virtue signal their social awareness with no regard to the full picture. There's so much noise surrounding "controversies" with the game, and while some points are very valid to be critical of (such as the changes they made with Jamil and muting queer identities in the characters), the rest feels like the masses treat every decision as statement on how Yana perceives culture/history when it could be the execution of the ideas that people are sensitive to and readily defensive over. I won't hold my breath over that changing anytime soon, but I just wish everyone could have a peaceful and enjoyable time when they play or engage with the content.
