Don't shut me down has the magic of old Abba from the visitors era. Briliant pop track.
I missed the vote so I am glad that Bumblebee had a special mention. It is top or near the top of the list for Voyage for me.
The whole album is extremely moving to me. But two songs are very special. I can not decide which one is better : "Ode to freedom" and "Just a notion" The 2nd one takes me instantly to the 1970s..........we can hear Agnetha & Frida voices again at the peak of their careers. However in "Ode to freedom" the amazing Frida´s voice is soften for obvious reasons. The passage of time is unfortunately inevitable. I can´t help it. When I hear "Ode to freedom".......I feel sad.....but my love for ABBA is so strong, is eternal.....that to be fair, we must be grateful forever and ever.
It's 10 little stories that are part of everything i love in this album.I connect them to my heart for the memories they carry.
My 12 points go to....'Ode To Freedom".
Kilkenny song When u danced with me and I can be that woman. We love Kilkenny and country songs in Ireland!!
There's one song that stands out for me. "When You Danced With Me"
A universal representation of the music & words that unite Abba & their fans. And under three minutes, just like the good old days of music getting to the point & without filler.
I don't believe their singles from "Voyage" are better than this song.
WYDWM could have also easily fit the ARRIVAL album imo.
@@christianoazzuro6711 - Yes, it's the closest to anything they were releasing back in their heyday & therefore their best.
Thank you for all you do to celebrate the greatest pop group of all time. ABBA! You provide information about ABBA we would never otherwise know. I always look forward to your new postings! Please keep them coming.
My favorite is "I still have faith in you", a true masterpiece!
When I listened to “Just A Notion” for the first time, I couldn’t stop crying for hours and hours. I don’t know, which dams have broken in this moment, and I was not prepared, but I was flooded by emotion, joy, disbelief and the honest feeling that I had never before heard anything more beautiful than this song. Since then “Just A Notion” belongs to my all-time-favourite ABBA songs and is for me very best song of the whole album. As you know, it is also the only song on “Voyage”, for which the music was written by both Benny and Björn, and as much as I adore Benny’s beautiful solo compositions - the combination of Benny’s and Björn’s musical ideas is in my eyes unsurpassed.
Listening to “Just A Notion” later in the context of the album, I realized very soon that its lyrics are the perfect answer to what is sung in “Don’t Shut Me Down”, namely from the perspective of the person, who is referred to as “you” in “Don’t Shut Me Down”. If you listen to “Just A Notion” with this in mind, you will see what I mean.
I always thought that the B-side of “Voyage” has a rather “dark” atmosphere, so that I am surprised that many fans seem to prefer these songs to the “brighter” songs on the A-side. When I hear expressions on the B-side songs like “the pain that I feel is real”, “I feel sick”, “feeling sad”, “I feel so bad”, “why do I let it upset me” and so on, it may be a little bit heavy at times. I rather prefer “the good old times”, “little moments of happiness and of bliss” or the “funny feeling” and that “everything from there on must be right”.
But in the end it is fantastic that ABBA were able to create such a diverse album, for which I will forever be grateful.
just a notion has a great flow and a beauty to it and a innocent sound
Ode to Freedom - best wishes from Germany
No doubt about it
"I still have faith on you" is the master piece of the "Voyage" album to me...Frida's voice ..my God!
Ode to freedom is also my favourite. I often find myself singing or humming it. It's a haunting melody. A melody that pulls at the heart strings. It stirs the emotions every time I listen to it. It reminds me of the genius of Benny. Another great melody created by this man. Of course the lyrics too are wonderful and tell a story so apt for the times we are living in. The vocals too are haunting and angelic. Great having the four voices combined. The girls were the ABBA sound but I always loved hearing the men's voices too. This
Album reminded me of the excitement and joy that filled my heart as I awaited ABBA albums in the past. I was transported back to those beautiful times. This might have been more special because the wait was 40 years. ABBA very different people but the same ABBA sound. ABBA once again Thank you for the music. Bobby a big thank you to you also for your great videos. You have a very soothing speaking voice to listen to. You speak with a great sincerity and a true appreciation of ABBA. 👏👏🎼
Thank you for this very special comment and heartfelt feedback. It's encouraging and means a lot to me.
what message do u take from ode to freedom
Hello Bobby, congrats for your video, it's really rewarding and exciting to know people your age appreciate our loved group's music the way you do. I am 61 and I cannot compare my passion with yours. I started liking ABBA in 1979.
Keep up with your excellent videos
Regards from Lima Peru
My favourite song is always the song that I heard most recently. A great album. In America, the only one that I heard play on a radio was "Don't Shut Me Down".
I live in the US, never heard ABBA's new songs being played on the radio. What state do you live in?
@Petlover10000 Philadelphia Pa. Heard it on the University of Pennsylvania radio station while driving. Around the time it was nominated for a Grammy.
I. I Still Have Faith In You
2. Bumblebee
3. Ode To Freedom
4. When You Danced With Me
5. Little Things (without the children at the end)
6. No Doubt About It
7. Keep An Eye On Dan
8. Don't Shut Me Down
9. Just A Notion
10. I Can Be That Woman
Every one a great song. I love this album. Not their best, I guess, but their most special.
I think the person who hasn't listened to the Album yet.... feels like in the ABBA universe is a really good film and they are happy but don't want it to end....listening to Voyage would end the film.
Great video, glad I was with the individual vote ode to freedom.
At least VOYAGE is (imo) the 'happy ending ever after'. move...'The missing" part to get the circle happily, succesfully and gloriously closed.Something which had been 'silently abandoned" since 1982/'83.
My favourite song Is Don't shut me down. Big hug from San Luis Argentina
I said Ode To Freedom, just before you announced the most popular. I love Abba Voyage and like many others ordered before listening to a single note, such is my faith in their musical genius. I laughed so much at the comments that were somewhat different 😅
I feel you in every word!
@@bobbysbrother137 thank you ⭐
Every song is amazing. A 10/10 album
I still have faith in you ❤ without doubt heartwarming
Mes chansons préférées sont : When You Danced With Me , Just A Notion , I Can Be That Woman , No Doubt About It et Ode To Fredom . Continuer à nous enchanter cher Bobby avec vos vidéos et prenez soin de vous
I appreciate you. I have been a huge fan since 1975, and seeing you admire them sometimes brings a tear to my eye.
It's "Don't shut me down". When I heard "And now you see another me, I've been reloaded, yeah", the old ABBA was back. It was at that moment when I wished I could fly to London from the other side of the Earth to enjoy Voyage in person!
Just a notion and ode to freedom for me
Good to see you back on TH-cam, thank you for all your time and efforts, very much appreciated. DON'T SAY SORRY to anyone, you are an awesome person! I am an Australian who has been a fan since 1974 when I was 10 years old, it warms my heart to see young people like yourself discovering and embracing ABBA. Sending you a big virtual hug. xxx
Ode to freedom
So glad to hear that "Ode To Freedom" was the number one choice for favourite song from the Voyage album. Benny has said in interviews that it's a favourite of his as well. I fell in love with it right from the start. I liked it so much that I wrote an arrangement of "Ode To Freedom" for choirs. You can hear it on my TH-cam channel. It's been purchased by choirs in Canada, USA, Europe and Australia.
Keep an eye on Dan because of the many layers in the song...........very very good. I heard it over and over and over..........
Minha favorita: Don't shut me down.
Thanks once again for a brilliant video..I love the idea of 'sit and chat'..It seems like you are talking to each one of us individually about our love of Abba...Take care..
I can be that woman. Incredible song. Sung so beautifully by Agnetha.
I LOVE every song on voyage. It’s an outstanding album (as is every abba studio album) Just a notion makes me so so happy though, a true masterpiece ❤
I still have faith in you "
Thank you again BB for your WONDERFUL work and for sharing your passion for ABBA in each of your videos. It is amazing to see and feel your devotion for them being so young. ABBA will live forever because their music is a GIFT. To answer your survey, I would say Just a Notion: it brings me back to my childhood, to my youth, to my dancing days and nights. And I must confess that Dont Shut me Down is for me an all time favourite with Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes it All and Gimme, Gimme, Gimme... I also adore That's me. In fact, I ❤ all ABBA songs. Thank you ABBA! Thank you BB!
Thank you!
Mine has to
1 Ode to Freedom
2 I can be that woman
And that's before I saw your results 😊
Todavia tengo fe en ti gran interpretacion de Frida ❤❤🎉
Ode to freedom feels like the ending..
Knowing Me Knowing You is my fave.
That opening sequence where you walk past the chair is hysterical (in a good way!) 😁
Lol!Well "he knows how to make an entrance"...
Oh!! This comment coming from you, TheFridaFan, is all the more meaningful and so funny to me, and you don't even know why. Here's why. I also created a second version for an introduction, and it included me trying to make faces like Frida in "Head Over Heels". I was torn between this and the version now, but I decided for the walk-in, and so it's all the more meaningful to get your seal of approval for it!! Love to TheFridaFan 💙
@@bobbysbrother137 Oh I would have loved that! But this is better because a more casual ABBA fan might wonder what the heck was going on 😊
My favourite is Don’t Shut Me Down....pure classic Abba❤️❤️❤️
Hey Hey Bobby, Just a little late on this vote…“I Still Have Faith in You” got me through the toughest times of my husband being I’ll. So it is my favorite. Apart from that song it would be “Bumblebee” , a soothing ,calming melody .🇺🇸
Thank you for the lovely video!! It's always wonderful to sit and chat about ABBA. My favourite Voyage track is definitely I Can Be That Woman. Agnethas vocal delivery is incredible, it makes you feel every word. A talent she has had throughout her career. It's simply beautiful. What I'd like to know though is..... what is YOUR favourite Voyage song Bobby's Brother and why? Only 1 mind!! 😁
My top 3 favorites:
When You Danced With Me
Just A Notion
No Doubt About It
(Off the 2 singles, I prefer Don't Shut Me Down)
Really enjoyed that Bobby love hearing your thoughts and the fans of course.
I think mine has to be Don't Shut Me Down although When You Danced With Me comes close.
Thanks BB. Nice video! Sit & Chat - a great idea. We could have some interesting discussions - our differing views on topics you raise, and some fun "charts" or "polls" based on our responses to your questions.
Itś a tie between Dont Shut Me Down and I Can Be That Woman. I love them both.
Thankyou Bobby’s Brother for another excellent video & it’s nice to see you in this new style format again. It’s good to hear you read out some of the comments, even enjoying the ‘funny’ ones! 😉My favourite from Voyage apart from ISHFIY & DSMD is probably Keep An Eye On Dan but it’s a difficult choice as they’re all wonderful! Keep up the good work, from a very loyal fan from the early days of ABBA.
My preferred songs are Keep an eye on Dan and No doubt about it
Interesting to see how people voted. No Doubt about it is my favourite song on the album closely followed by Keep an Eye on Dan… but I agree with the comments on Bumblebee because it has the exactly same effect with me… The heartfelt lyrics and vocal delivery brings a tear to my eye…
Thank you for all your videos. They always help me to keep up with ABBA news ... my favorite group since high school in the '70s to today. From Voyage, Bumblebee is the song that sticks with me because of its gentle message about care for the environment that is important for our time. I also appreciated the other interpretation that this was a song about a woman in her older years. It is also so nice to have Little Things to listen to at Christmas.
Aside from those two which are obvious...I would say "when you danced with me."
I Can Be That Woman is a big favorite of mine, beside I Still Have Faith In You and Don't Shut Me Down.
Well, 'I Still Have Faith In You' is my absolute favourite but I also adore 'I Can Be That Woman' and 'Keep An Eye On Dan'.
As one gets older (69 and a 1/2) It's the "Little Things" that mean a lot. 'So why don't we stay in bed for a while?' 🥰
I still have faith in you but it's hard to choose...😊
And Little Things.
I love the whole Album and it's hard to choose...
“Just a notion” is probably the best outtake from ABBA to be finished until “just like that” will hopefully get finished
Bobby people are haters Your doing a great Job these people who bad mouth ABBA are just jealous
I agree that 'Just like that ' would be brilliant instead of that horrible ' just a notion'. That song should be just that.
A catchy song with good rhythm and a good vocal performance by the girls!👍
Enjoying this format....it's good to hear your opinions on the fan's comments. I think that the " not impressed comment " might have been about the voyage cd🤔 The comment asking for your apology sounds like someone may have answered to the wrong video. Talking about visualising in relation to "I can be that woman now " I think that is Bjorn's exceptional talent in writing song lyrics. The majority of ABBA songs inspire visualisation for me when I listen to them and I put it down to Bjorn's lyrics. Also the comment about not listening to the Voyage cd after buying it...that's bizarre to me and I would never have the willpower not to listen to it after buying it 😁 Thanks for all your hard work Bobby keeping us ABBA fan's very happy 😍
Just a notion the Best!!!!
Keep an eye on Dan was an early favor of mine because it featured intense vocal harmonizing by Frida and Agnetha, like gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme gimme, and it featured “Voulez-Vous” era disco strings
I also love just a notion
Just A Notion is my submission. Thanks
After "I Still Have Faith In You" and "Don't Shut Me Down", the best song to me is "When You Danced With Me."
My ONLY problem with it is it's TOO SHORT!
My only gripe about Voyage is that they didn't do a disco/dance song the kids could dance to now in the clubs...
Keep An Eye On Dan exciting to hear modern and current sounding❤
"I Can Be That Woman" is actually one of my least favourites of the album. And I loved so so much the point of view about "Bumblebee"! This song has grown on me more and more as the time passed. "No Doubt About It" remains my favourite with "Don't Shut Me Down" - I can't choose.
Ode to freedom for me.
I couldn’t get into I Could Be That Woman for a while, it felt a bit clumsy & disjointed with awkward lyrics, but it grows on you & now I love it!
"Don't Shut Me Down", of course.
Don't shut me down!!!
And which is YOUR favorite song from Voyage, Bobby's Brother??. Mine is 'No Doubt About it'. Talking about 'Live in Wembley' CD/LP it seems hard to find nowadays, I suppose it went out of print and hasn't been reissued since it was released 10 years ago. Take care!
I love this...
My own favorite would have been "I Can Be That Woman".
Don't Shut me down is the best song ever.
Ok i'ld say :Ode To Freedom.....(runners up WYDWM The J&W channel extented mix/NDAI- preferably the infamous extented fan- mix firstly uploaded i think by themotownboy, the one with the additional banjo intro)
Both are different and no have favorite, but I can be that woman is my favorite, i really love it
Re asking if we have any questions for you, I wanted to ask as ' Just Like That' is actually my favourite ABBA song, is it actually completed? On my bootleg ABBA cd called 'Little White Secrets' the full 4.50 min saxophone version is included, it sounds complete with more saxophone than I've heard previously on other versions. Also was there any demo to 'Funky Feet' done by ABBA as I haven't heard anything re that song. It was a top 20 hit in Australia by the Studs or Silver Studs as they were known here. I read they thought it sounded a lot like Dancing Queen. Would appreciate your comments... As always, thank you BB...
You mention the animation for Bumblebee. Can see that deffo. It like when they done 'The Eagle' in the concert
Like that, yes! So they'd actually have a team for it already.
@bobbysbrother137 I believe that it was Benny who always wanted to do something like this. This was in an interview.
No Doubt About It gets my vote!
Love the sit and chat format, keep it up. My question for you is what is your favourite item of ABBA merch? (Can be something that you own or something you wish that you owned)
I love your calm voice ❤
Thank you for this kind feedback. This is very encouraging for me.
Mine is When you dance with me.
АgnetНa is still so pretty, very tender, a symВol of tenderness and kindness, love.Нow I love Неr !!!
When you danced with me!!!!
My favs are HIt By A Train & My Story Ends With You
Ha!ha!You nailed it!Hugs.
@@alexioverdo5225 I wonder will we ever hear them?
The title Hit By a Train reminds me of the Frida out-of-tune solo gem Shot Down in Action. Searrch for it here on TH-cam!
@@alexioverdo5225, Thnx!
I would have voted for When You Danced With Me!
I can be that woman, I'm a teenager, I'm just have 13 years old and i'm from Venezuela 🇻🇪
@@sigridscholz4893 oh thank you ❤ darling
This is amazing. Thanks for your comment!
Keep an eye on Dan. It's a brilliant song.
Wow, that's such a different ranking from mine. My absolute favorite is "Just a Notion", followed by "When You Danced with Me" and "No Doubt About It" sharing 3rd place with "Ode To Freedom"
"Don't Shut Me Down" is the overall favorite, but of course not available for this ranking. "I still Have Faith In You", would be ranked after "When You Danced With Me"
"Bumblebee" and "Little Things" are pleasant, but a bit boring and not important in the big picture, while "I Can Be That Woman" and "Keep an Eye on Dan" are my two least favored tracks on the entire album.
I'm pretty amazed by this ranking you present, but that's one of the (many, many) good things about ABBA that they appeal to such wide audiences.
Thank you for sharing your ranking. What you said is exactly what I love so much as well. The vast range of completely different opinions. Someone names song xy as their top favourite, and another mentions the very same song as the least appealing. I just love to read all of it so much.
Abba's candy music box has lots of variously flavoured cookies. There's always something good to fit in everyone of us.
Interesting! Ode To Freedom is my last favorite track from this album. 😅
Ode to freedom is mine, Alexa play ABBA Ode to Freedom, I say a lot
Ode to freedom and I can be that woman...
.
Will it be another ABBA ARENA? ❓
Maybe America Asia Australia or Sweden? ❓
Add my vote for No Doubt About It. It gave me vibes from Frida’s solo albums… FINALLY the guys wrote a song for Frida to sing in her uppermost register. It only took them 50 years. Lol. Look I love a sultry Frida ballad as much as the next guy, but she had so much more range and the guys rarely utilized her full versatility.
My second choice would probably be When You Danced With Me. I also enjoy Little Things, I Can Be That Woman, and Ode to Freedom. Keep an Eye on Dan is a skip, as is Bumblebee. Don’t care for either of them. Prefer the original arrangement of Just a Notion… I don’t like what they did on the Voyage version.
If playing the album. The main songs i play while cleaing or getting ready to go out in this order.
STILL HAVE FAITH IN YOU
DONT SHUT ME DOWN
KEEP AN EYE ON DAN. (have a question, which of the ladies sing this song, )
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, finally
BUMBLEBEE. if time, play the whole album.
Do have some other questions, and opinions, but save for another time... 😂😂
0:40 Never heard the French word rubrique in English before.
(In ABBAs language, rubrik means heading and has the stress on the last syllable.)
just a notion😊
I am not impressed with the Voyage album but I must admit that I am not the same person as I was in 70's and the begining of 80's when I was a big fan of Abba. There are only 6 songs on my playlist from Voyage album: When you dance with me, Don't shut me down, Keep an eye in Dan, Bumblebee, Not doubt about it and Ode to freedom. The best song among them seems Keep an eye on Dan as far as the music and lyrics are concerned. Wish you all the best.
Yet 6 songs on your playlist is a fine score!
6 songs that made it, quite an achievement.
Also my thumbs up in your comment for being honest and kindly explaining why 'not impressed' but being generous including 6 whole songs on your list that's more than half the album.
