    If I can reach the moon ball in the air I absolutely love hitting swing volleys around chest height. Takes more time away from the opponent and the fact that the ball is dropping my return has lots of topspin.

    I do what you suggest but I take the ball on the rise at shoulder height. I feel that the ball is slows down more as the ball rises and it's easier to time. The ball is way too fast at waist height. I think it's easier to play these balls with a ball machine feeding you the same ball repeatedly but in a real match situation, it will be too challenging to do at waist height.

      Hi Wally, many players prefer what you suggest.
      But as long as you don't swing too fast, waist height is fundamentally easier.
      Look at Federer as an example
