- The Princess of Wales has publicly taken the blame for the manipulated family photograph released by Kensington Palace as she issued a personal apology for the “confusion”.
The photograph of Kate and her children, taken by the Prince of Wales, was the first to be issued since the princess’s abdominal surgery and was released by the Palace to mark Mother’s Day.
But it was withdrawn with a “Kill” notice by international picture agencies hours later because of suspicions it had been manipulated.
TalkTV’s Mike Graham discusses the story with author Laura Dodsworth, The Telegraph’s Madeline Grant and commentator Candice Holdsworth.

You're so right. The only ones complaining are these so-called pundits and the media outlets. The former because it gives them an opportunity to pontificate about what a future queen should be like. The latter because it gives them an opportunity to bash the Wales for wanting to preserve some privacy and not use professional photographers. There's money to be made. I loved the photo and truly don't care if it was photoshopped. These days, most photos are.

If it weren't for Prince Louis 's missing finger (edited or not), no one would have dissected the entire photo. That was the first thing I noticed. She's protecting her kids by not releasing the original photograph and good for her. Whether for good cause or not with the photo, the family felt pressured to release something. Let it go and let her rest.

She didn't send the picture to the agency, didn't publish it in an article, didn't publish it in a history book. The picture was a Mother's Day card, she could also post a picture of puppies or chickens with a hen. IT WAS A CARD on social media.

If I were them, I would never provide another photo, especially of the children. They are not obligated to do so and the media has now certainly proven that they don't deserve to receive these pics if they're going to be so pathetically scrutinised under a microscope for the tiniest amount of editing. For goodness sake, this is unnecessary bullying when other (ex) members of the royal family have posted photos of their young children that are highly edited and questionable, to the point where one even questions whether the children even exist. Let's rather focus on that explosive can of worms that the media seems to avoid like the plague for who knows what reason.

Charlotte’s skirt was manipulated - gasp! Will I ever be able to trust that a photo of Princes Charlotte again? Catherine apologized and she’s been given enough grief during her sick leave. Move on. It’s a simple casual family photo not a photo of them flying and wanting us to believe that they can fly.

There's a difference between a photo being "doctored' / "manipulated" and making "retouching" changes. I have used PhotoShop to retouch photos without, as with this photo, changing the "authenticity and integrity of the photo". It's not a portrait, it's a lovely family photo; Catherine has every right to use PhotoShop. It's not the media's call. Chances are the media has blown it with their harassment and with their ignorance, which may result in the public not seeing any more beautiful family photos from Catherine.
If the situation is tainted it's the media's arrogance in the way they deal with Kensington Place; not only has William coped with the way the media treated his mother, he now has to contend with the way the media is treating his life partner, Catherine.
This has been ridiculously blown out of proportion. Surely there's something more important to be talking about.
Professional photos of the RF are routinely photoshopped. The professionals, however, don't get paid for photos taken by the family. That's where the real issue is; money.

Use some of that public money and hire a professional photographer. I think most of her past photos were only released to the British media who are trained not to critique members of the monarchy. Worldwide agencies cant afford to have photos they accept questioned
