So about the oil and the pancakes, you don't really want your pan to be smoking like that before you even start cooking, because it means the oil you are using has too low a smoke point!! It means the oil is burning before you start cooking, and that's less than ideal, especially as with pancakes you need to keep the heat on for a while as it's pretty hard to cook more than one pancake at a time! Good oils to use are sunflower or peanut oil, as they are high oleic oils with lots of monounsaturated fats, meaning they have a higher smoke point and won't burn as quickly! :D Happy cooking!
Avocado oil is another option - it’s neutral and won’t affect the taste of your pancakes. But yeah, butter is the way to go if you’re not vegan. It got a bad rap back in the anti-fat diet days, but it is a healthy, helpful cooking medium. Anyway, as a Canadian expert on maple syrup and pancakes, you gotta use butter first before you pour over!

Deli, your pan was definitely too hot for the pancakes. The oil was smoking - which was possibly exacerbated by using coconut oil, which contrary to common knowledge, has a low smoke point. Maybe try vegetable oil or even no oil depending on the recipe and a lower temperature another time 👍 to be fair they really didn’t look burnt to me 🤷♀️
Tips on making pancakes: 1. Use butter, less likely not to burn and more tasty. 2. If you are not sure when to flip, time it. 1.25 minute first side and 45 seconds to 1 minute second side. 3. If all else fails, make the pancakes using almond flour helps. Almond flour doesn't burn as easily. Add at least 1 minute to the cooking time for each side then if using almond flour. I'm excited about the new channel. Love you guys so much. Taking a quiet personal moment and watching yours and James's videos really helped me last year, as I was looking after my mum as she battled cancer. She passed June 2nd of 2019 and I miss her so much. I'm sorry for your recent loss Deli. It gets better and your blessed to have James there to help.
The activated charcoal can be used in powde form for coating poison in the dogs stomach. If Bowser eats something he shouldn't, the powder will coat whatever piece of poisonous food he has eaten, allowing less of the poison to absorb, and allowing him to pass whatever it is safely. Keep in mind that if he eats something poisonous, it's probably more beneficial for you to induce vomiting than to only give the charcoal. You can give the charcoal after inducing vomiting to absorb whatever he might not have gotten up. To induce vomiting you use hydrogen peroxide. If you take him to a vet they will do both of those things, but would also be able to give him an anti-nausea after inducing the vomiting. You can find sources for this online, but this knowledge comes from my years of experience as a dog trainer, I'm certified in pet CPR.... And one of my dogs once ate an entire star fruit.
I use a ladle/scoop spoon to pour out pancakes, that way you can scoop some mixture, wipe the bottom of the spoon on the inside side of your bowl, then pour into the pan. I use coconut oil too because it has a high burning point, I start with the level on high then after the first pancake adjust to lower
The first pancake is ALWAYS the worst! Lol After i wisk the mix in a bowl I let them sit for 5-10 minutes and they get thicker resulting in fluffier pancakes. Then I use a measuring cup so they're all the same size. Flip when bubbles form on over half the pancake 🥰 sounds delicious with the yogurt and fresh fruit.

When cooking pancakes I just use a non stick cooking spray, the pancake mix, and a spatula lol I re spray my pan with the non stick stuff after every pancake just in case

Use a ladle to pour it in, also I usually use butter at a medium heat for it. It comes out great! What you need to do is when you start seeing little bubbles at the edges of the pancake, thats when you need to flip it over. Even for thick pancakes it doesn't take that long to make them.

I always use butter to cook my pancakes. They come out crispy and cooked perfectly.
A good way to pour the pancakes is to use a ladle (or a ladle-laddle-loo as I like to call them 😎😋😜)
I've found wiping the oil with a paper towel helps too

When cooking pancakes I just use a non stick cooking spray, the pancake mix, and a spatula lol I re spray my pan with the non stick stuff after every pancake just in case

Deli, oil is not supposed to be smoking 🙈
Use a ladle to pour it in, also I usually use butter at a medium heat for it. It comes out great! What you need to do is when you start seeing little bubbles at the edges of the pancake, thats when you need to flip it over. Even for thick pancakes it doesn't take that long to make them.
Deli, what if you two build a house in which each one of you choses a step then you flip a coin to see whose will be on the build. Example: james wants modern, you want victorian, james choses a small home, you chose a big one...
I'm so sorry for the loss of your Grandpa. I remember losing mine a few years ago and it's a huge loss to a family. I'm thinking of you and yours during this tough time.

Pan waaaaay too hot! Want it literally on low - it’s better when they cook super slow rather than quickly. No smoking of the pan of it is then cool it down!
