    Thank you! I'm here because my stompbox died, and replacements are expensive. Your video tells me that the markup must be HUGE and DIY is a real option.

    Love this! Just wanted an acoustic click sound to practice with, and the closest thing I found was the $300 “pivot pedal”. Your velcroed quarter idea might be all I need… I’ll velcro it to my heel and tap on a piece of wood, or a cake pan, and skip the electronics. 😊

    Great video! Very cool how you try this and that. It gave a good idea about how the pickup works. Thanks!

    Well done sir. Thump and smack both. And fairly simple.

      Thanks! I'm still finessing it. I actually started using some digital processing to get really specific... though I kind of feel like that's cheating a little. Maybe I'll do a follow up video soon.

      @@ClosetHymnologist My version - best one on the net IMHO because it sounds decent, is all acoustic, is the same volume as an acoustic guitar, and is the same height as someone standing, th-cam.com/video/8xgeViflAV8/w-d-xo.html
      But I like the fact that yours is compact, and you can stand on it. That's great.
      By the way, something we should both look at is how this guy does an amplified snare using a contact microphone: I wonder if somehow one could have a board, kind of like you have, but with a container of rice underneath, and a separate contact mic for it, for the sname?

    Great vid.
    I am jealous of your studio!!!
    Your guitar sounds really great.
    I wanted you to sing but never mind.
    You have a good powerful style of playing.
    I need a box like that to keep the beat with my solo old time fiddling.
    Stomp box I mean. Not your guitar!!!!

    Loved your video and how you moved scene to scene. And the simplicity of how you made the foot drum. Thank you for all the experimenting you did. Oh, and at the end when you were playing with the foot drum and guitar. There could have been MORE foot drum, the guitar over played it.

    Is it safe to assume that your church is opposed to the use of drums?

    • @ClosetHymnologist
      @ClosetHymnologist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually quite the opposite. But we only have one drummer, and I don't want him to burn out... so on his days off, I've been using this to fill in the sound a little. It's fun, but I much prefer a full drum set.

    What microphone did you use for the voice recording?

    • @ClosetHymnologist
      @ClosetHymnologist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think mostly the MXL v63M. At least for the parts where I’m standing and talking.

  • @barteringlines

    Very nice work and will be making one this weekend. Question for you though, do you see any issue with making it long enough to stand on without having to have the extra board behind you for your heels?

    • @ClosetHymnologist
      @ClosetHymnologist  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Do you mean sort of make it deeper, almost a square, so that the part for the heels is connected? I will say, while it’s a little annoying to have to bring around a separate board for my heels, I think the separation is good. It helps prevent unwanted noises from my heels. It’s pretty sensitive, especially when I’m running it through a compressor. That said, I’m sure there’s a lot of ways to make this kind of thing. As I’ve used it more and more, I’ve come to realize that it’s less about having built the right instrument, and more about figuring out how to work with the thing I DID build so that it sounds cool.

    • @barteringlines
      @barteringlines 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ClosetHymnologist That is exactly what I meant and thanks for the insight, that makes perfect sense. This will be the 3rd or 4th one I have built and once I have this one done I will take the latter advice as well and work with the thing that I build. Thanks again, much appreciated.
